Cthulhu? Usually is, at least its not Flying Polyps. Those definitely haunt flesh as well, at least until they steal your brains for whatever nefarious means they plan.

And no this isn't an answer, its a random musing*... Ia Ia Cthulhu Ftagn

*side effects may include but not limited to: Insanity, Spontaneous Haemorrhaging, Projectile Vomiting, Chaos Corruption, The Inquisition, Death, Tentacles and Purring

The mantis is tiny and cute!
Agreed. Mantis cute.

Wish the UK had some (at least I haven't seen any). Though given its now winter they probably wouldn't like it.

I would use the size of a (single) door rather than a floortile for the base area because doors are meant for an average person to fit through without it being a squeeze. A 60cm wide door would (for myself) leave about 6.5cm either side of me or less.
If you ever have anything like mechs or power armour they would not fit in one (60x60cm) tile.

Otherwise That design looks okay to me, though I'm no expert on atmospheric simulation physics (dabbling at best).

I would suggest Rolan7 gets a qualified non-cowboy electrician to check that wiring is safe but random and not going to randomly start electrical fires. Okay it'll cost a few bob but its better than a few grand+ and/or serious permanent injury.

There is a spider in my curtain. Literally inside the curtain. Good thing I like spiders.

I'd hoped to find an NPR, but nope more precursors... and they have 30cm railguns with 6x range modifier. Clearly I am going to need bigger guns. Or just missiles galore as they won't be able to recharge those guns very fast. At least I am pretty certain they are the same size as the missile ships given the identical thermal signature and speed and they aren't going to runaway when they see us.

It wasn't diving at me, more flying towards my left or right and then back again to its perch. Besides, robins aren't aggressive toward humans and are often seen perched near people (on shovel handles for example) who might turf up bugs or provide food. And my mother has had one land on her hand so as to be the first one to get the day's food for the birds that was being put out (and proceeded to eat from her hand).

Also, the area I was in with the robin is an area where people often feed the birds (mostly the swans, ducks, geese and coots) so if anything it would have seen me as a potential food source (which robins see humans as anyway, well gardeners at least.)

Had a close encounter with a robin. Pretty certain the little guy was thinking about landing on me multiple times (as in flew towards my head then back to a stick fence). Then he hopped around in the leaf litter looking for bugs.

6x DSTS 400 that I snuck in and dropped off. Basically Passive EM sensors will detect active sensors.
That and I actually looted the sensor intact with my salvage ships after pincering it between 4 destroyers and 4 cruisers causing the AI to keep trying to stay away from them and bouncing back and forth between a rock and a hard place. (along with TH-18 and EM-18 passives, I know exactly what their passive tech is as a result)

As for research, I am building more labs but currently have 45 split between 4 projects normally (sometimes because the Scientist cannot use more labs, usually because more than one tech group has something important and when you have two 55% scientists in two different areas why not use them both?) Although I'm often spending too much, what with needing more ships and buildings and everything else while only having one major planet with two colonies one of which needs infrastructure.

Is there any way to force the sup-pulse to be 1 day? I'm sick of fighting NPR's taking up the entire time.
Setting "Detection" in "None without player presence" can help a bit with such cases. If they can't see one another they can't fight.

Precursors are confusing. They have two platforms I can see, and I can see their R1 sensor range as being about 4m km, I fire long range missiles to see if they have ammo still (they did) and they start lobbing AMMs at about 6m km, which is outside their sensor range.
The sensor range shown for other units then your ones is just a guess according to your current sensor techs. If they have better tech they can see you further then System screen shows to you.

Well I know they have EM sensitivity 18 vs my own 11. Don't know about their active grav but mine is 32 IIRC theirs might be 36 or whatever is 1-2 levels higher than mine. I know my sensor tech is about double what I started with (previous max size sensor R100 was 872m km, now its 1.9b km). I guess EM sensor sensitivity is another tech to research soon then.

It would explain why their scout stayed outside of what seemed to be its sensor range, I'm going with their sensor range being about 50% above its shown level but that still doesn't explain how they saw my destroyer, unless they have a smaller sensor I haven't detected that has longer range (such as an R80 or something, I know my S1 R100 is 39.2m km so a 0.5 or smaller could still be hidden but have 20m km range).

And they killed a destroyer at 20m km which they shouldn't have been able to see let alone track once it went back outside the range they fired at.

Also, which is likely to be the Gauss platform, the 18500t one or the 18050t one? Or should I just keep firing from outside their range until they stop launching missiles? (I kinda want to try and capture the platforms, would make nice trophies for earth's orbit)

Well good luck because you will need it. Its good to have a project to work on and its a learning experience at the very least.

Well I know R1 sensors do pick up ground units at their max range. And R100 missile fire controls can target them at point blank range.

Okay, precursor scout ship with big engines and no armour destroyed via pincer manoeuvre. Pity the Missile destroyers wouldn't split their volleys between the two fire controls no matter how many times I set them to. And my cruisers for some reason are assigning their Gauss cannons to the long range fire control and the 15cm lasers to the short range control...

And there are two platforms intact over the precursor base, pity. Why the larger wreck is there and what that ship's capabilities were I won't know for a long time.

Also nuked the smaller spybase they had because I could.

Which lets them get closer before being hit. Okay its useless for a scout but for raiders and infiltration ships its handy. And for capital ships where tonnage isn't as concerning but survival is due to build costs and time.
