anyone nice enough to share a few basic uniform macros with the community? pretty please with plump helmets on top? i usually have trouble making uniforms like misselecting often which i want. especially when it comes to macroing them. and it becomes even harder as i can only play at night.

what id like to request are some basic uniforms like a steel set (mail shirt, breastplate, helm, greaves, gauntlets, high boots and shields). without additional weapons and clothing.

ah, thanks for the additional clarifications. it seems the go to water controller is the pump and grate with wall. until the wall can leak that is

lots of great suggestions. at first i thought toys gave XP so i bought everything i see from trade. now i just buy them to smelt. if a modder could give us these tiny XP boost for the time being while this becomes a game feature thatd be great.

yep, a fire imp went through a 4/7 fortification, i thought it swam up, went through my refuse/corpse hole and started attacking. i usually put that stockpile near my magma sweatshops for easy magma dumping. so even non pressurized fortifications arent safe now. guess ill have to switch over to grates and pumps.

the wiki claims things (creatures and objects) can pass through fully submerged pressurized fortifications, but i havent seen anything being able to pass through it, not even a fishing zone which should be classified as a vermin. is this still true or has the wiki not had any more recent updates?

has anyone tried more science while baiting submerged things to come through? like using double fortifications, diagonals, a building directly behind 1 or so on? its gotten me a bit curious.

just picked up round 4 for windows, and ive noticed a weird infinite resize issue when using a dark theme. sure it only affects a minimum amount of players, but im just putting it out there. R3 didnt have this issue.

is this in a more recent version? im pretty sure LNP doesnt have armour wear. does wearing it like clothing reduce wear? how about sparring? this is terrifyng.

yep, and once a poor innocent puppy gets attacked, the warriors swarm in. my burrow is just to the next room. if im lucky my militia might get some experience, but most get caged and pitted later on. its hell when mega beasts arrive though as taveen patrons cant deal with them.

i also have a corpse and useless refuse stockpile there. it helps with their mentality. they feel nothing when A dies, but they still get horrified though.

im playing on a ramdisk. it does help a bit, but dont expect a miracle. heres the nicest ramdisk program on windows. nice and free, good performance, always near the top on comparisons.

for linux it does take a bit more time to setup, but the performance is actually better.

if you use the standard type (deletes all data when shutdown), you just make save game backups then extract it back when you want to play. or just set your power button to sleep and never turn off your PC.

as for world gens, i just set cavern layer to 1 to avoid pathfinding hell.

i actually use taverns as my gate house. warrior visiters will idle unless something attacks you in the tavern. its like having a temporary militia. i also reject everyone unless they have good equipment and stats since managing your own army is hard enough, let alone others.

AFAIK there are no side effects of killing them. they just keep coming. its probably because my tavern is also my dining room and bedroom. it keeps everyone happy and becoming cave adept. i draft everyone into the.military so i can at least give them leather armour.

can i have the links please? it sounds interesting. who knows it might be like 1 of those games where you send X amount of people off your map, then hope for the best. war efforts might be fun too. then when your party returns you get some rewards and corpses.

when i first started playing, i skimmed through dastactic tutorial 7-11 to get basic functions of the game, while also using the wiki. for more advanced things, id prefer a video example to help. ill jump over back to their channel and watch. i actually download the videos since i think its easier than watching it on youtube. for example, moats, wells, squad management/training, pumps, windmills, water wheels, and the dreaded minecarts. minecarts are still no mans land for me though.

we all know this is very open ended. when i done a blooper, i just cant fix it and will just DFhacks die and hope it all goes well this time.
