...Trump better not be rude to the Queen.  That would be pretty much the last straw IMHO.

And I'm a USian.  :v

Trump admin is leaking like a sieve probably because it's full of crazy.  Crazy doesn't like to be classified.

If the camel's back ain't broken already, bub...

I hope he is rude to her, 'cause it'd be funny having him start a Twitter feud with the royals, and having British conservatives up in arms about this oafish foreigner.

Obama literally gave her an iPod.

He's only fat by President standards if he gets stuck in a bathtub.

Don't say that.  He could end up on the Supreme Court, like the only other President who got stuck in a bathtub.

Come on muldrake, it's better to have a constructive conversation....

But he weighs too much.  It is seriously a bad signal to send to a country that is already suffering from morbid obesity on nearly catastrophic levels.

Shouldn't we care about the health of our citizens?

Michelle Obama did before her entirely correct opinions were thrown down the Memory Hole.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What does the manager do?

The manager is my favorit Noble also.
Love to print barrel "30" or what I right now need instead of searching for the workshop. Love order all sort of things that way isntead of running around in the fortress.

I particularly love the conditions sub-menu where you can be like "do I have less than 30 barrels?  Make more until I have 30!"

That stuff is awesome.

Although in my current fort it's like "Do I have steel battle axes for everyone?"

Anyway, if the question in the subject line still applies, what does the manager do?  The manager does AWESOME.  That's what the manager does.

Trump is Negan.  Discuss.

US politics locked again? I wonder what the trigger was, seemed fairly sedate last time I looked.

Lol I thought I'd just been personally threadbanned.  I was confused since I had been trying to be nice.

I've seen this happen a number of times. Kobolds are much weaker than the other races, but they can engage in site claiming/reclaiming like any other civilization. I'm not sure if the Kobolds killed the previous owners (who were likely weakened by a rampage or war with a more powerful foe) or if they claimed the site after everyone else died in it.

I've had a kobold be the guy representing a human civilization before.  Kobolds hadn't actually taken over the civilization, though.

DF General Discussion / Re: Save scumming
« on: February 02, 2017, 02:52:46 am »
I feel really stupid asking the question, but how do you save scum in this game?

All I'm trying to do is figure out whether it's better to set up the manager before doing much of anything, or setting him up later, possibly after piercing the aquifer, or maybe even later. Ideally, it would be best to do it from a common point (play up to a given point, save, do x, do y, see where you are, save scum, do y, do x, see where you are) but I can't get these copies to even show up on the continue game list.

If I recall correctly a few versions ago, all you had to do was copy the save folder (region2 or whatever) into a different location, then paste it back into that same folder when you wanted to roll back. That is no longer the case? Or am I thinking a different game?

Thanks!

If you use one of the newb packs, you can actually set it to make seasonal saves and those will be stored in well-named directories.  I generally don't do this myself because of some dumb ethics or whatever, but I would if I lost a game due to some pure crash situation rather than my own dumbness.

Scumming is as simple as just saving those save directories somewhere so you don't lose them.

Good thing you never posted about it on the public internet using an account likely set to automatically log in or save username, with internet history to point them at your account. The first rule of actually-important opsec is to never talk about your actually-important opsec. :P

Good luck.  I'm behind seven proxies ;-)

Oh okay, so he's basically just a guy who lets me say what I want and no newbs can do it and such? Neat. Don't think that it'd help me much though, I only ever let one dwarf do every major labour, turning it off for everyone else the moment they arrive, and just let them chug through basic crafts until I need something else.

Managers are awesome and about the only noble I care about at all.  They enable you to streamline workflows to a ridiculous degree and not have to think about stuff.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Opening moves
« on: February 02, 2017, 02:31:01 am »
This isn't a super opening move since it doesn't immediately pay off, but if you have iron ore, just immediately start smelting it.

Then the moment you have flux stone, get pig iron going.

And the moment you have pig iron, turn it into steel.

Forge battle axes.

Turn every dwarf into a woodcutter at some point.  So they pick up one of the battle axes.

From then on, watch every single encounter with a nasty turn into a report with various body parts flying off, severed, and look at all the new kinds of meat your cooks have to cook.

Good luck hacking my Bitcoin wallet, pigs.

They demand that you log into it, on the basis that it doesn't need a warrant because it's not actually your *password* that they want.

The fourth amendment's a shambling corpse these days.

They have to know it exists at all first.

So today was ... eventful, in an uneventful way.

- 62 bpm, 138/88

Aren't those pretty good?  I haven't seen numbers that good in a couple decades.

It's amazing how hostile he is in fact to governments he should be allied with. The ruling party in Australia are anti-immigrant pro-business types, who also include the Christian Right and rural types in their coalition. Yeah, but Trump snubs them and only has glowing words for Duterte and Putin ... which is worrying. Center-right isn't right enough for him. Basically that's the biggest warning sign: that Trump isn't in fact making friends with the governments that he should be friends with, given his ideological stances.

This is why I'm of the opinion that he has no grand plan and is, in fact, exactly the imbecile he looks like.
