DF Adventure Mode Discussion / How to interact with army on the march?
« on: December 14, 2023, 03:13:53 pm »
Does anyone know how to interact with armies on the march? I went to a fortress that had an army on the way. Place was too laggy to wait. I did find and kill a random goblin patrol nearby that included a lord consort and some recruits. I went and talked to the fortress and they still said the army was coming.

Learning adventure mode.
1 elephantman. Killed by night trolls, specifically one with a broken neck managed to gore my neck and chip my spine.
2 dwarf training in river, tried to use crocodile as training. Latched onto me, RIP
3 elephantman, killed 100 zombies and several necromancers. Couldn't find secrets of life and death. Died finishing off the night trolls that got my first elephant man.
4 dwarf, died after a day of swimming when the river froze
5dwarf, tried to swim across the ocean, drowned
6 human, bandits in a tomb? Kk manage to kill the undead ringleader, random other undead grabs me and breaks my neck.
7 dwarf, died to a bunch of dwarven wrester bandits in a monastery
8 dwarf accidentally started in a fortress, managed to escape to  the surface. Took a long above ground walk through the mountains along a river. Some yaks helped me get to legendary fighter and wrestler. Found a kobold fort but they seemed chill. Looking for safe way to train defensive skills.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Can swords swings hit multiple people?
« on: December 16, 2022, 12:29:24 am »
were lizard showed up in my tavern, luckily armored swordsdwarf was nearby to put it down immediately. But then the dwarf stabbed a bard standing adjacent who hadn't participated in the fight at all? My best guess is the same attack that killed the werebeast happened to kill the other bard.

Well the elves brought crap pets anyways. Maybe I'll biuld a minecart shotgun to use up all this lead I've got because Galena is the only ore I've found.

Question in the title. It's funny because I just set up some beautiful magma forges so I wasn't gonna need to cut down many trees, then I offered a barrel full of fish when I wasn't paying attention. Do my relations with the elves go straight to war now or will I have to do more to piss off the knife ears.

How do I deal with bandits? I was told of some bandits at a town and so I went there and ambushed the warriors hanging out there, got through like 5 or 6 of 17 before started fleeing. And now that I'm walking around they arnt attacking me, only a few even spit at me or comment on all the murder.

Havent done anythung too horrific yet just standard wrestler stuff. Still my favorite game to play is, how many joint locks to give into the pain, the lucky ones give up at three. Still sometimes a poor human is on the ground with 2 broken hips and 2 broken shoulders , and I have to start trying to hit fingers.

OKAY TIME TO PLAY AS A KOBOLD IN AN ELF CIVILIZATION AND BE THE BEST ARCHER THERE
Definitely doing this on my next play through. Been thinking about an archer build but didn't know about that night vision stuff.
Currently though I'm rocking a Polar bear man, finding any armor is a crapshoot(hunt goblin trolls?) But the size is awesome. Since I dont have any armor I've found I'm super durable, also you almost always win a wrestling and charges. I've gotten into the habit of grabbing and breaking the weapon shoulder of anyone who attacks me.

I will explore the world and create a party of the largest animal people I can find, then bring them back to my fort and make custom masterwork armor and weapons for all of them.

Were beast infected dwarfs are too much fun for me, I arrange for unfortunate accidents for any infected. It's somewhat cruel but better than a mistake leading to a loyalty Cascade.

First epic caverns battle for the first fort I've made went as follows,
Spotted cave dragon roaming around, decided that was dangerous and sent 1st square to take it out (4 macelords, 1 spear recruit, well made steel equipment) the recruit happens to get in front of the charge and engages the dragon... Can't land a single blow and is shredded to death by said dragon. Next in line is a macelord. Runs up to the dragon and hits it in the head with her steel mace, the dragon falls unconscious. She then hits it I. The head again, killing it.
Well recruits no longer get to be in combat squads till competent.

Different fort, were chameleon climbs outer wall(no overhang yet) into animal pasture, is spotted and mauls nearby donkey before charging the nearby dwarfs fleeing inside. No time to gather military, closest member get there and kill it!
3 fisherdwarfs fight unarmed against the beast before a competent steel clad hammerhead arrives. She promptly begins dominateing the fight without taking a single hit, until near death the beast manages to bite her hand, and is slain, one of the fisherdwarfs bled out but otherwise I have 3 infected.
Highest priority a pit is dug next to my well spillway, the infected at ordered there. Next month the 3 transform and the spillway is opened, 3 drowned heroes and the fort is safe. They are buried in personal tombs for sacrificing all for the fort.

Killed a Forgotten beast that warned "Beware of its deadly blood" or something like that. Didn't have much choice so my macedwarfs had to go smash it(curbstomp battle). Luckily the effects seem not to be fatal as none of my dwarfs have died to anything other than accidents and none of them show up as having injuries in the health tab. The only effect I can tell is that anyone whom comes in contact with the beast's blood will permanently bleed, but not to a point that it is lethal to even my cats(judging by the trails of cat blood and lack of dead cats).
So other than one of my squads painting everything red with their own blood wherever they go, things are going good in BellBasements, not bad for my first Fortress.
