I've always liked playing my cutebolds as scavangers from time to time, however with the melty-man bug (Acid rain/Rapid fat loss) I can't settle in most of the ruins cause they seem centered in the Scorching regions, usually with an aquifer somewhere underground.  (And they never build wells in Worldgen ... hmm)

Anyways now to up to KC .82

On a sidenote,  I've now learned that adding "Stone Pref" to the entity default does not constitute as "adding materials" for the primitive/stone weapons for the 'bolds.

It's a problem I'm still trying to figure out,  appearently they need the materials to actually build the weapons (as shovels are just picks codewise).  Otherwise the "Weapon" option doesn't show up in Embark, I still need to try something to see if it'll work.

I'll get back to everyone if it works.

Huh unless I'm mistaken,  alot of the fixes to the raws in 31.03 have poofed again, or the "fixes" weren't actually fixes.

No wait, yeah all the raws reverted back to the 31.02 version of the raws,  so... goats have horses again.

The uninstaller.

Thats actually part of the official game and not a mod.....DUH!

My fav is Companion Share and Recruit (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3066), with any of the various NPC addons, CSR can really make playing the game much more interesting.

You should check out  Companion Master (I think that's what it's called.)  Has bunches of controls for companions no matter the type I believe.

also yes Midas Magic is awesome.... when you get the gold nuggets to make the spells -mutters-

I've got a crap load of house mods most of which are either bought or Quested.   OH! there's also the  UL Mods for the eyecandy (If your computer can handle it)  I also got something that adds a bit more thiefy stuff for the TG to it... Uh -ponders- I don't remember what it's called ... OH! MTG's Thieves Grotto

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Reclaiming Non-Dwarven Ruins!
« on: April 14, 2010, 05:48:02 am »
I love taking over fresh ruins, mainly in Kobold Camp though, I always seem them as a scavenger tribe when they're not founding a new village.

But yes you can also engrave I think every surface you can access in Towers.

It seems like it, someone made a custom workshop that trained the PROSE skill.

No, it seems I forgot you had to smooth before you could carve the fortification.   My bad.

DF Gameplay Questions / Draining Underground farms (.31.03)

Now I know irrigation is really only needed if you decide to not inhabit the
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
But I was wondering how would one now drain the underground farms, it seems you can no-longer fortify the edge of the screen.

Right now my option is (oddly enough)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and let the water drain into that, as I am no where near ready to face the terrors of them.

I didn't take an area with a aquifer, but it does have a small waterfall.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Nice dorms vs. meager bedrooms
« on: April 13, 2010, 02:22:59 pm »
Early game my first 7 get beds in the entrance as there rooms (you know a 1x1 bedroom, aka just the bed) the migrants then get dorms that I name cause it seems fun to do.

I wish you could actually assign dwarves to specific dorms though, the closest I guess is lots of mini-burrows that inter-link somehow.

Though I don't get what other uses a dorm has, since dwarves will sleep in any free bed,  unless it is something with the new military/burrows at this point.

... Someone needs to make the drop bear for DF .31... like... seriously

Looks cool, sadly I had very little idea what I was supposed to be looking at in the various pieces.

Was I watching for the light blue flow number? or when I could actually see flow numbers? or is there something else I'm missing?

You know I'm looking through your raws and I'm noticing you have the Kobolds  Prog-trigger-trade to 0 instead of 1,  I think that makes it so they never show up in this version, I could be wrong though.

I'm gonna turn it on and see if I get a kobold trader

Actually compairing to dwarves in DF 2010, it might be the fact that you actually have a progress trigger set up,  I'm gonna try removing the progress trigger for that  kobbs and see what happens.

How did you handle medical emergencies Pre-Gobpocalypse?  You only get one chief-med dwarf, or did you let the rest of the castes fend for themselves and reserve the big-doc-cheese for the Gold Caste only?
