Life Advice / Strange bumps on head; unsure what they are, would like help
« on: September 21, 2022, 09:02:35 am »
Hello, my fellow forumites. I've never really posted on this sub-forum before, but I come with a dilemma.

I've noticed three small (started at around a size somewhat bigger than a pea, I think?) lumps that have formed on my scalp recently, particularly one that formed on where my neck meets my scalp, and two bumps on the top of my head that have popped and bled, leaving them kinda crusty feeling. Whenever I got a visual on any of them, they all looked red in appearance, and the rubbery one kind of itches when pressed down on gently. All 3 are on the left side of my head, if that helps anything.

A strange thing I've noticed is that they seem to grow and shrink with the amount of sleep I've gotten. I had some good sleep the past few nights and the bumps went and had gone down in size. However, last night was different because I had somewhat less sleep, and it feels like they grew back, even if just by a bit. If any of you have any medical degrees or any medical know-how in regards to this, I would greatly appreciate it.

ASIN'S MOD MEGAMIX

A collection of races from all across my history as a modder, fixed up for 47.xx, and some races fresh and new.

How to use the mod:

1. Download the mod.
2. Look at the folders that pique your interest.
3. Click on said folders.
4. Move the files inside the folders of your liking into the "objects" subfolder of the "raws" folder.
5. Start up Dwarf Fortress.

Changelog:

0.2: Divided into sub-packs, depending on what you want in DF. Files within the sub-pack folder that aren't civ folders or desc_.txt files are usually creature_.txt/item_.txt files that are shared by the races.

Races added:

*Humanesques: Horruks, Myrmidons, Severians
*Beast Peoples: Meletians (Monstrous Humanoids), Mayochi
*Dark Elves: Dusk Elves (Culture Shock Dark Elves)
*Human Peoples: Aurgelí (Culture Shock Icedwellers), Hito (Culture Shock), Gagorins (Culture Shock)
*Dwarfkin: Deep Dwarves (Culture Shock)
*Misc. Races: Kulurids

0.1: Initial release.
Races added: Catmen, Dark Elves, Moss Elves, Apuks, Guuths.

DF Modding / Idea thread for a "miniature hidden world" mod
« on: May 25, 2020, 11:30:40 am »
By a miniature hidden world, I mean one consisting of absolutely tiny races (like gnomes 4 inches tall or the like) trying to survive in a world akin to ours... Just much bigger than the sapients who inhabit it. What races would deal in it, and what would their culture be like? What would we replace the trees with? What tools would tiny folk use? And what beasts that a human could handle could be dangerous to the small folk who inhabit this land?

What sorts of words would I need to use the filter with in order to find these groups?

5
Is there a utility that allows you to view the raws of generated creatures, like generated demons, forgotten beasts, or perhaps the new experiment beasts/humanoids made by necromancers or demons?

DF Modding / Civ/Entity Idea Thread
« on: January 18, 2020, 10:36:25 pm »
Considering making more civs for an existing project or making a new project when the Villain update comes. Would like ideas/suggestions.

I'm simply curious on this topic. Say I wanted to make a Roman civ or other old civ in DF. What would be the best approximation of their ethics and values in Dwarf Fortress? I also ask this so that modders in the future who wish to recreate these civilizations can do to the best of their ability.

Civilizations from across the past I am curious about in particular:
  • Romans
  • Franks
  • Ancient Greeks
  • Anglo-Saxons
  • Sengoku period Japan
  • Holy Roman Empire
  • Ottomans
  • Ancient Scandinavians

Mod Releases / (-47.xx-) Miscellaneous Video Games Mod! (0.4)
« on: September 29, 2019, 06:24:14 pm »

Adds in six races from video games, with the majority half from Minecraft as of the time of writing, a couple critters, a metal and a gemstone. These civs are:

Villagers: Everyone's favorite bald traders from Minecraft. They arrive to trade in the winter, and have iron golems they can use against you, should you raid them. And hopefully, if I didn't screw up, you can buy the iron golems from them. They now have figured out the art of advanced smithing and have developed Testifium, a mystical alloy of iron and special emeralds, that the Villagers use for only weapons and ammunition. It's a little denser than iron, a bit more resistant to heat, and twice as sharp.

Illagers: The gray-skinned outcast villagers we all know and may hate. They may invade relatively well-off fortresses at any season, and they bring ravagers, their weird cow mounts, during raids. However, there is a chance peace may be achieved, in which they'll be your source for evil animals. Illagers also have an Evokerblood caste that summons in Vexes.

Piglins: Denizens of the Nether who were actually introduced a day ago or so, at the time of writing. They are early-game thieves who come about in summer and winter, who can also ambush and besiege the fortresses. They have Hoglins, one of their primary sources of food as pets.

Miis: Somewhat short and cheerful abstract humanoids who live practically anywhere. They come to early forts to trade in the summer and they bare many kinds of animals. In Adventure mode, they're the perfect size to wear both human-size (70k) and dwarf/goblin/elf-size (60k) armor.

Fighting Polygons: Human-sized crystalline warriors who once took many forms, but have now stabilized into their current form. They'll show up to well off forts to either trade or try and pick fights in winter. They learn the ways of melee combat, as well as unarmed combat skills, much faster than other races, so they make for excellent combat-oriented adventurers.

Pac-People: Round yellow people with large mouths. They'll show up to decently sized forts in the spring, bearing similar goods to humans, in case you'd prefer shipments of metals over elvish wooden goods. Nothing to quite write home about in adventure mode (yet.)

FUTURE RACES:
*EarthBound's Tenda, complete with tamed dinosaurs!
*The inferior counterparts to the Miis, the Xbox Avatars!

CANIDIDATES FOR FUTURE RACES:
*The little guys from Patapon, maybe?
*The Echidnas from Sonic? (Game-based, not Archie-based, and significantly more Knuckles Clan than Nocturnus Clan)

CHANGELOG
0.4: Fighting Polygons and Pac-People civs added, Villagers gained Testifium, wild folk have begun implementation with Dream Penguins (Dedede's folk), a couple Subspace themed creatures have been added to evil biomes, blocky emeralds added to the underground.
0.3: Miscellaneous Video Game Civs is now compatible with the Villains update. an "Evokerblood" caste has added to Illagers.
0.2: Miis got some vaguely Miitopia inspired weapons, and Piglin Beasts have been renamed to Hoglins!
0.1: Initial release!

PLANS
*Make Pac-People be able to sense ghostly figures and more dark themed creatures.

CREDITS
*Toady One and Threetoe/Tarn and Zach Adams for making Dwarf Fortress.
*Nintendo for the Miis, Fighting Polygons, King Dedede, and the Subspace creatures!
*Mojang (and technically Microsoft) for the Villagers, Illagers, and Piglins, as well as mobs associated with them.

DF Modding / Civ ideas needed.
« on: April 21, 2019, 05:32:50 pm »
Okay, part of me wants to recreate the "green man" part of those sever humans I dreamed up here: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=173782.0.

However, the only idea I have is to make them a desert civ, based on the shawl they wore in my dream.

DF General Discussion / A DF based dream.
« on: April 21, 2019, 01:29:28 pm »
I had a strange dream last night where I was playing DF and things were... different. When I started, the text was too small. For some reason, dream-me pressed f12 and the screen's text changed from almost normal, to big, to too small again, and back to almost normal. Dream-me thought this was the best he was gonna get so he started playing adventure mode. The thing is, adventure mode looked different.

Right next to picking the race was like a parchment with a picture of the races. The only one I remember with any real detail was the "sever human" race that popped up. It appeared four times in the list and each time I went down, the appearance changed.

The first one was the head of a green man with large pointy ears and a beard in a shawl of somekind. The next two were similar, but their ears were different kinds of pointy, like one had elf ears, the other had bat ears. The fourth "sever human" had none of these.

It had a parrotlike head with no color and it looked like it was drawn in pencil, and I remember there was a description next to it reading something along the lines of "A humanoid known for its' curiously avian head."

So, yeah. That happened.

Is that a thing or nah?
