Description
Danh is a rather tall Vietnamese man, standing at about 6’5”, and is quite large and husky. This is largely due to his visible strength, with large arms and a solid looking back. His eyes are black, much like his hair, which has been cut down to a buzzcut. Aforementioned eyes likely have bags under them, evidence of too many nights spent awake, either worrying, or trying to calculate various debts.
Backstory
Danh was born in Vietnam, in one of the many, many communal apartments, where he lived with his rather large family. His father was always working, as was his mother, leaving him mostly alone, except for his brothers and sisters. He never did very well through school, and barely graduated high school, however he always kept himself as strong as he could. Strong was good, made him feel good. Being provided a single credit by his rather apathetic family, he took to the streets, living there for few months. However, in a restaurant, he was offered a job as a bouncer, no doubt because of his natural strength. For four years, he worked there as muscle, before the club was nearly burnt down in a fight between the club’s employees, capitalist political dissidents, and riot police. The club destroyed, he left it, and continued wandering. However, there was one thing he picked up in that club that he took with him. A terrible gambling addiction. Oh, and a lot of experience with beating the crap out of people.
After another few months, he saw an advertisement offering nice pay, and necessities provided. This was fantastic news for Danh, and he quickly went to the corporation’s regional headquarters in Hanoi. He was quickly accepted, due to his physical ability, and breezed through exams. His large hands had some difficulty handling the smaller arms, but he eventually got medium arms down, and was given a carbine, and his first assignment. Patrolling.
This went on for about six years, six years of boring, but well paying work. Occasionally, he had to deal with drunk bums coming into the front officer, but that was about it. He spent most his off time feeding his vice, always at a gambling house. However, one day, he got a *tad* too drunk, and bet all his money in a dice game. All of it. Every. Single. Credit. He lost, too.
He began to take loans from Arkas in order to pay off his various necessary bills, as well as a means to continue gambling, which he usually lost in. He thought that by taking loans from Arkas, he’d be shown mercy and lenience if he couldn’t make the payments back, due to being a loyal employee for years. This is probably not the case. On a different note, Danh was involved in the Gaiaside Breach, and was one of the many security goons to hurl flashbangs at whatever the thing was.
It was his tenth year as a guard when he really fucked up. He decided that he needed his debts paid off, NOW, so he took a HUGE loan from Arkas, yet again, and put it into stocks. Of course, Danh had little idea how stocks worked, besides the fact that you get rich from them if you put your stocks into new companies. So he put this large loan into the newest company he could find. It collapsed in a month. Now Danh was really fucked. He owed Arkas alone 100 credits, and was behind several payments on his car, needing to pay 10 credits to them, too. And various other debts, adding up to...30 credits. All in all, he owed about 140 credits. Fuck.
So, he did the next logical option. He applied for the Gate Program. He knew the death rate, but he needed the money. Not wanted, he NEEDED the money. He had a good job, a good position, he couldn’t lose all that and go back on the streets! Soon, he got an email confirming that he’d been accepted. Implanted with a tracking implant, he began to undergo special training, that most gate candidates went through. Seeing as his natural strength would allow him to handle such weapons, he was designated as a Heavy Weapons Specialist, skilled in both large, two-handed weapons such as light machine guns, and explosive weapons, from 20mm grenades, to anti-tank missile launchers.
Danh was as ready as he could be for this new, and perhaps final, job.
