Every button that does something at any given time will be displayed in green text on the screen at that time, and usually along with what pressing that button does. At least in Fortress Mode, anyway.

Will this be recorded?

Yeah, the current release cycle for a while is:


-Huge release with lots of new features
-Series of small releases to fix new bugs
-One or more medium-sized releases mostly focused on fixing long-standing bugs, each followed by more quick-fixes
-Soap, drown, and repeat

A release with basic bugs still in it will be more frustrating than enjoyable.

Depends on the bugs, really. A bug that makes the game crash every time you press 'k' would certainly be frustrating, but I think I could live with zombies having backwards names for a week.

Technically, seperation of text and world tiles did get put in the game a while ago. It just caused crashes all over the place when it was enabled. That's what these fixes fix.

One time I found a bug where as soon as horses spawned some baby horses, the mothers would beat the shit out of them.

DF doesn't really mesh well with the pony craze.

Problems with vampires: 1) They will accuse other dwarfs of being vampire 2) They can't feed from other vampires, so at some point vampires will outnumber regular dwarfs and even new migrants can't help in that. So that will result vampires suffering from lack of drinking 3) Wouldn't they still pretend to be vampires even when whole fortress is full of them? So they would still move as slowly as regular dwarfs.

Did Toady intentionally make it so Vampires are like The Thing?

I hope everyones wrong about vampires and they are a dangerous thing to have around,
Other wise, Normal dwarves will just end up being cattle for Elite dwarves [vampires]
Which does not please me.

As noted previously:

1) Vampires can't increase their skills
2) Vampires can kill your legendary normal dwarves
3) Forts with lots of vampires will eventually deplete your population of normal dwarves, thus running out of food
4) IIRC, vampires that haven't drunk in a while won't die, but rather get significant stat and skill penalties.
5) The particular strain of vampires infesting your fort may be vulnerable to a material commonly used by your enemies.

I believe it only lists FLUX in the biome properties if the flux stone that is present is a layer stone.

All flux stones are layer stones. There's one that isn't but it only shows up in flux layers so it doesn't count.

It really depends on the player. Some people figure everything out in 2 days, some people take months just to learn how to use the military screen.

I said niche, not nice. I was referring to how the target audience is so small shutting down Bay12 and the DF Wiki wouldn't really accomplish anything, especially since I'm sure the majority of us already know about SOPA and are against it.

People are doing it to spread the word. Wikipedia didn't even shut down and it did a great job of that.
