I once tried to make a fort based on conservation.
The idea would be to minimize the impact on the surface buy having everything underground.
Other goals were to not kill animals if needed too, and no cutting trees.

The overal plan was to make elves more dwarven by keeping them from fondling the trees.

When I showed up in the misty pine forest on the coast, I ran into a lot of problems with getting elves in while keeping dwarves out.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: how do i make gem furniture?
« on: February 28, 2018, 10:17:47 pm »
Technically you can I think. As turning a specific type of gem into glass, and making it out of that glass.

Crystal glass uses rock crystal so it’s kinda gem furniture.

Five year plan?

This little red won’t need to plan past 5 minutes now.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: i've done some research on the dreaded kea.

And the giant kea is logically very bloodthirsty. Like the giant kea that strangled a herbalist to death with a wing based chokehold and flew away without stealing anything.

My avatar shows the reason.

The kea scavenges the remains of the squashed spider, then steals the book.

They liked dogs so much as to construct a giant statue of a dog made entirely out of dog soap.

Considering where dog soap comes from...  Perhaps they didn't like dogs as much as you think.

You need a lot of them to get enough soap, then you have the rest of the dog afterwards.

I am a big fan of analyzing the implications of what I’m doing to my dwarfs. Along with seeing what kind of culture they have based on stuff like food.
I also like to have interesting designs to taverns, noble rooms, and so on.

Like one fort apparently drank a lot of sake, liked raw mussels, and liked dogs. They lived next to an atom and a waterfall in the middle of a jungle.

DF Community Games & Stories / Re: WORLD-CONQUERING succession fort!!!

I approve of this greatly. In order to make sure the plan for global conquest works, the fort must be optimized for military strength rather than wealth.

If we want to ensure our plan of world domination works, we will have to plan and organize the specific industries needed to support the soldiers.

So if we can lay out our tail now, we can maximize the ratio for the teeth.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: why arent red winged blackbirds agressive?
« on: February 20, 2018, 06:59:40 am »
The thing I would think is that Red-Wing black birds are extremely territorial in order to defend their nests. It would be more difficult to program a seasonal behavior.

I wish to be dorfed as a farmer. Your gonna need to grow a lot of pig tails.

I will also ask if the biome is tundra or a very cold taiga (or one of each). Due to the need of paper making in such a great library. The aquifer might also provide water power to grind the necessary pulp.

A great library means heavy investment into paper making, with supplements of cat skin scrolls.

Name the cat "Kilo"

The ribbon....

Also, no on the sword, get a pole instead. And maybe find a kitten instead of buying one, use elf skills to take a stray.

I wish I found out about this earlier, I would've suggested one based on my most favorite Elder Scrolls PC concept ever.

Stan Stabby Stick of the Clan of McStickStab Son of Stu Stick Stabber the Spear Swinger.

I found out you could use spears in Morrowind, so I made a character solely based on using spears.

Her hair needs pretty princess ribbons and she needs impressive general medals.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Wanted: an emptier tavern

I just assigned meeting a area on a bridge after disallowing visitors. I now have a lot of statues of people getting crushed by bridges.

You can also use the same principle as a way to guard against megabeasts.
