DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: beware the batsword
« on: January 13, 2008, 02:02:00 pm »
the drunk hacks himself in the head with the iron long sword.
the drunk loses the hold of the jaguar leather cap.
the drunk's head flies in a bloody arc.
the drunk has been stuck down.

well.. it will be a usual log if you enable the "things with no skill uses weapons and hits themshelves". also change the words "iron long sword" with "Racoon leather pants" and you will get a closer idea ^^

nteract with your waterskin near a body of water (river better than pond, because you dont get stagnant water) for filling it.

or drink the blood in your armor   :roll:

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: A couple of questions about wrestling
« on: February 11, 2008, 05:24:00 am »
you can break some limbs with any part of your body (like hips... or strangle the throat), but there are some that you can only break with your hands (head, ankles).
for stop wrestling things in random attack, press A and attack (not wrestle). it will free all the grips and then he will punch-attack with weapon.

and for the dwarves... dont know. i think they wrestle and punch.

i think organ damages dont make dwarves to lay down... i had my mayor damaged in a fight with a goblin thief (the mayor has max strenght, agility and thougness, but...) and he was walking happyly with his red lung... he got winded while he was mining, he recovered, winded again and death.

in the elf leather earing are engraved a dwarf, cage trap, cage full of elves, a bridge, a lever and a masterwork gear. The dwarf is setting the cage trap. The dwarf is putting the cage full of elves in the bridge. The dwarf is pulling the lever. The elves are screaming.

end of the legendary bowmen.

well...
underground river= infinite amount of water
cave= closed space
infinite amount of water+closed space= massacre (for your cpu at least ^^)

yes, i had this just 5 min after the start... but it was only 1 kobold thief (it said ambush, not thief... minor bug?), and the dwarf near it was the woodcutter... well, not really a hard ambush... it left me some kobold bones to play with

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Ideas for a blood altar
« on: February 05, 2008, 05:27:00 pm »
something like this
code:

#X##
L>_#
####
L=lever
>= bridge raising in that direction
_=a hole
#=wall
X=no return point

put a door in X if you want to use this with animals or goblins, or nothing if is only for dwarves.

then just below the hole you put this

code:

SIDE VIEW

Fall here
   V
   _
 _| |_
_|     |_

you put some chairs in the stairs and... everything gets covered in blood and limbs!

(well... it has a fall... and you dont want falls...)

edit:
put some clear glass walls, a lever, and water... with enough presure you will get some blood.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Most useful defenses
« on: January 30, 2008, 04:24:00 pm »
i have a 3-wide passage with 9 weapon traps (in a 3x3 square) filled with masterwork obsidian swords, and then 30 cage traps.
if a enemy doestn die while stepping on, at least, 3 weapon traps, he will be caged. also this gives me lots of limbs...

the caged goblins are freed in a 5x4 room with a bridge. they try to run to the door, and then the bridge launches them into a 15 story pit.

so every invader gets its limbs looped off.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: My leader has a moderatly wounded back.
« on: January 30, 2008, 05:46:00 am »
all the organ wounds dont make dwarves rest... you can have a dwarf with 2 red lung walking in your fortress, working as usual, and then it suffocates and dies... spine is organ damage, so you could be lucky and have it heal before the yellow arm, or the arm will be healed before and he will work as usual, but wih brown spine. maybe he will colapse time to time, or something like that.

a *100 quarry leaves roast* is enough to buy the world.

its nicer if the water is on a column just over the room... the pressure will make the room full in no time, and the <insert> will be smashed in the wall.. and then the water turns red, and you can drain the system.

« on: January 21, 2008, 05:07:00 am »
i got a peaseant with 2 eyes ripped off, red troath and he managed to jump off the  third attack... in the direction of the pit assigned to the goblin snatcher. then another peaseant comes, gets the goblin, and throws it in the pit, without battle, just like another tamed animal, dont know why...

also i have seen a untrained peaseant with a iron spear kill a cougar in 1 hit.

i think is just a luck strike. like a one-hit decapitation.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Slaughtering animals-how?
« on: February 03, 2008, 06:47:00 am »
you have auto-slaughter animals in options (or something like this... i dont remember exactly).
also try to free the animals of cages and chains.
i think the butcher gets the animal and takes to the butchery, so animal hauling isnt required...
put butcher an animal work in the butchery...

i have no more ideas, but in my fort, the animals where slaughtered ok.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Does water "Push"?
« on: February 02, 2008, 05:05:00 am »
i have seen my miner to be killed by the pressure of a underground river... he mined the wall, the pressure made him to crash with a wall, and then he bled to death.
also running water destroys everything in its way... dosnt matter if bones, silk, corpses, or metal armors, water dissolves everything (i think thats because dwarves prefer booze ^^).
