DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Funniest things said in dialogues

"My third eldest daughter is named Arkur Fortuneweakness. She is also my aunt."
This is either incest or a time paradox. Possibly both. I can't be sure.
Only in Dwarf Fortress can such a thing happen.

I can't wait to see the forum threads popping : "my legendary adventurer got grabbed by a roc and now I'm 50z above ground, what do I do" :D
Climb up and ride it, obviously.
Then piledrive it into the ground.

I decided to create a peasant adventurer instead of my usual demigod. I recruited some companions, traveled around a bit...
And was dismembered by a pack of giant hyenas in my sleep.
Jeez.

Pulling out stuff still stuck in you leads to increased bleeding, just like in real life.
Also, adventure companions can jump. It's a bit weird considering that they won't swim after you.

I remember having a vampire in one of my first 43.03 forts (fifth, I think). I tried in vain to figure out who the vampire was while he drained 6 more dwarves of their blood. I eventually gave up and used DFHack cursecheck to find the bastard. I locked him up in a room for later use. Never did use him though...

Huh, I'm getting "no controllable entity definitions available" errors. What do they mean? Worldgen seems to fail right at the moment before civilizations are planted.

I think there's been a longstanding bug where it is sometimes impossible to get out of dwarven fortresses because there is no connection from them to the outside. Maybe this is related?

You can also use advanced worldgen to control the quantities of megabeasts, night creatures, etc. with great precision. You might want to, for example, set "number of bogeyman types" to 0 to remove all bogeymen from the world.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / How to find out map rejection reasons
« on: July 29, 2017, 11:32:47 pm »
I'm trying to gen a world using the PerfectWorldDF utility and am having some trouble. I would like to know the reason my maps keep getting rejected; I didn't see anything in gamelog.txt or errorlog.txt, other than the acknowledgement that the world has started generating. Is there some setting I could use to log map rejections? Pretty much everything else seems to be logged in either of the two aforementioned files.

Oh wait, you need an empty hand? This whole time I've been grabbing with my arms, not my hands. Thanks for the explanation.

However, what I didn't notice was a stoneborn axeman hiding in the middle of them
Mowgli found an axe and decided to use it to avenge his animal friends.
I retired at my hometown of Pastlegends, figuring that there isnt much glory in dying when I can't even walk. Wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight.
You shouldn't have given up so quickly. You could've traveled to a mead hall and picked up a crutch -- after you've gained enough Crutch Walking skill you even would be able to walk faster with the crutch than if you had never lost a leg at all.

Anyway, my adventurer recently stormed the capital of the local gobbo civ, specifically the slade tower. I rescued 25 children (though one has a mangled heart) and killed innumerable goblins, trolls, and beak dogs. I lost my companion though. I attacked a goblin and decided to back away once it started running away faster than I could chase it, but my companion continued to pursue. I later found his mangled carcass in a hallway filled to the brim with blood and goblin bodies. I took it to later burn or maybe even entomb it.

Edit: Umm...the children seem to have started attacking each other. It's not everybody-attacking-everybody, just occassionally one of the children somehow stops being my companion and gets attacked by everybody else. This may have been because I told one child that I was starting an insurrection, and then that child told everybody else, so now those who support my claim are fighting those who don't.

I looked in the interaction menu, but I didn't see his weapon there. I then tried the grab & dodge technique, but it just released all my wrestling holds.

The answer to this might be obvious, but how do you rip away a weapon? I've been trying to learn Kisat Dur by storming a goblin fortress and have successfully grabbed a woodcutter's axe. The only options in the wrestle menu are to take down or to release.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Ashes left over after forest fire
« on: July 27, 2017, 03:42:57 pm »
I have several questions about the ashes that are left over after a forest is devastated by a dragon or other such fire-breathing creature. Can they be removed at all, using water flushing or something like that? What will be left after the ashes are removed and can trees & vegetation grow again after the removal?

Breed a bunch of FB's and titans and watch natural selection do its magic. Then fight the resulting supermonsters.

Yeah, "no one has really defeated demons" is a bit too far. Just look at Archcrystal. It conquered hell with nothing more than the might of dwarves and cave dragons.
