I once got a companion called Tuco Greatconfuses.

How do I allow an adventurer to interact with a custom item in his inventory in a specific way using the 'I' key?
Also, how do I temporarily override the function of a specific key and replace it with my own callback, and then be able to change it back?

I'm talking about Lua scripts now, not C++ plugins.

River is a must, preferably a brook. Volcano if I can get it. Also, preferably Joyous Wilds, for both the feather trees and the awesome creatures, as well as allowing two animal groups per surface/cavern layer, thus reducing the effect of campers. It has to be at least moderately forested, and if possible not completely dead of vegetation. Definitely not evil, and almost all of the time needs iron & flux.

I am very picky.

I'd like to join!
If everyone's okay with it I'll build a minecart railgun in E3. If not I'll take D3 instead.

Or at least care so little that it doesnt make a difference?
They already care so little that it doesn't make a difference. Severity of the art defacement bad thought is inversely proportional to the number of masterworks already produced.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Best way to train fighting skills?

I think you misunderstood me. I don't get killed by wildlife and recruits, I kill them, but get virtually no experience from it. Consequently, I get aced by an average goblin spearman although I have full set of iron armor, an iron shield, and the starting attributes recommended by the quick start guide.
The quickstart guide is out of date and short on helpful information. High strength is only an edge at the start, by giving more carrying capacity and higher early damage, but strength above agility will reduce your maximum speed, which is far more critical. You want higher agility, and good endurance so you can get the attack rate benefit of staying in jog mode with less stamina loss.
What specific starting attributes & skills do you recommend then?

The dwarves weren't supposed to rebel, that's exactly the bug. If you order your military to attack a werebeast and the werebeast turns back, the assault is treated as attacking a citizen and due to the way DF treats loyalty, the military dwarves that attacked the werebeast become hostile to your fort. Then due to a complex process, more and more dwarves become hostile, and the whole fortress turns into a giant bloodbath unless remedied quickly.

If you're getting killed by cats, crabs, random wildlife and recruits, then you aren't fighting smart.

Though I get what you're saying about having to fight smart. I mostly self-learned how to fight in Adventure Mode, so I'm generally short of expert advice. I'll check out the Kisat Dur thread.

EDIT: I looked at the Kisat Dur thread. It seemed like some really good advice. I suppose I should substitute my sword in for scratching and my morningstar for punching?

Very interesting story! Are you sure it was a tantrum spiral? It sounds to be more like a loyalty cascade, and I think tantrum spirals were essentially removed in the current version.

Well, see, it's pretty much impossible to "just play the game" if you keep getting creamed by NPCs due to having low skills whenever you try to do anything even moderately interesting.

I killed several packs of cats, crabs, and giant tortoises and killed some bandits and dungeon men, but that only got me to Novice Swordsdwarf. I then went "screw this" and stormed a dark pit. I got killed by the first goblin spearman I met.

Cool! Also, how do you train weapon skill efficiently? And armor/shield using?

Also, the guy just regained consciousness, and he's not that hurt. It's mainly his right leg that's mangled pretty bad, but he refuses to use the crutch that I gave him.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Best way to train fighting skills?

Hello everyone. I'm sure this has been asked before somewhere, but what is the best way to train fighting skills? I'm looking for something repetitive that I can do for a pretty long time without moving around too much. Wildlife seems to be too rare to efficiently do this, and going crundle-hunting in the caverns usually gets me lost. Though I suspect that it's probably because I usually go for the kill once I disable an opponent, instead of practicing on it, but I'm not sure which body parts I should attack and in which order for best training potential. Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: Also, my companion got badly injured after fighting a cyclops and is currently unconscious. Should I leave him there to die or is there a way to carry him?

What's wrong with masterwork armor?
Also, it's funny how the overlord seemed to agree that he should be punished right until you decapitated him.

Several years ago I decided to kill a mummy with my swordsman. I was aware of the curse, so i had a plan to wake him up using my companion. But before that i wanted to make sure that there were no other corpses in the room so they could not be raised. So i hauled all of them one by one, while i was sneaking, and it took me at least half an hour. Everything was ready, companion came close to a dead mummy, disturbing its sleep, got a curse and then... I remembered one thing. Whenever I decapitated someone i took their head as a trophy. And suddenly, all of those heads of bandits, vampires, trolls, night creatures and so on began to move. I took one step and my character was already exhausted from all of the blocked, parried and connected hits. Next thing i know, he fell unconscious and died. So much time was wasted on preparation just to be killed by his trophies.
I'm imagining all the hundreds of heads climbing out of his backpack, swarming over his body, and devouring him alive.

Titans are randomly generated creatures created at worldgen, so they don't have any raws.
