DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Most Illogical, Captain

Thing that always pisses me off is when civilian dwarves encounter some enemy and then they start running randomly around the map instead of towards the entrance to the fort  where the military and all the traps are. A lot of dwarves die like this needlessly when they could just have gone  to the entrance that's only one screen away.

I think without a pancreas you'd be unable to effectively break down food or regulate its intake, so yeah you'd die pretty quick-like.

I'm doing this for my current fortress. My nobles are locked away in a vault underground, isolated from the rest of the fortress. They have a well, a farm, and their own tiny but lavish bedroom and dining rooms. I've used dwarf manager so that they will farm their own crops. As punishment for being nobles they don't get booze, only water from the well. They also are only allowed to ever eat the same food. I hope they like strawberries!

I can just see it
Urist McJunior: What we avin fo dinnah mum?
Urist Mcmum: Strawberries..
Urist McJunior: Awwww a'gain?
Mcmum: Wait and for dessert e'll have a DEAD RAT!
Mcjunior: Heck yes.

Does any body think the sight will crash on release day?
Maybe, but I have binoculars.

What?
It's the joke!

That dog is mildly disturbing.

Oddly enough I always believed that worked because the barracks floor seemed to  stay clean.

The easiest solution against having clothes laying around is to give them individual rooms, then the pants Urist Mcpervert ripped off that pretty number will get stored in a cabinet.

The god damn miner was giving water to someone and tantrumed in the middle of it,  he proceeded to chuck the bucket of water at 200 miles/hour at the nearest dorf mangling his upper body and penetrating his lung, said dwarf is probably not going to be getting out of bed for the next 10 years.

God dammit, in real life the loss of a pet is something we all have to face eventually. In dwarf fortress it causes the  collapse of a civilization. The miner threw a rock and angered someone else, now they're mad and throwing crap at other dwarves , all over some god damn dead cat!

565
I accidentally dropped half my fort like that once and most of them survived. Seems that dwarves take falling pretty well.

Ah yeah...! My block stock piles aren't far from my magma forges+furnaces, it's probable that snakes are crawling into it. Ive begun producing nickel bins instead I think that should stop the bin loss.

Now I do have a tantrumer - the miner loves cats, he loves cats so much that every god damn cat in the fortress belongs to him, all 15 (yes ive been butchering every kitten born, ever). 2 of them die and he goes miserable, jeeze.

Is it normal to get mega beasts in general so often? I get one nearly every year now (playing dig deeper). Also I have a stupid noble who requests items made out of dragon hide and I only have one bar that's worth an insane amount! What method should I use to get rid of him?

Nope the guy doesn't give a crap because I have a legendary dining room with 2 artifacts in it and masterwork meals+drinks. I am mostly investigating out of curiosity more than worrying that he'll go mad. I think most of his masterwork stuff is either deep underground or already stolen/destroyed so it's cool.

Oh, I wasn't asking if HE was tantrumming, I was asking if any other dwarf was... as they can destroy items while in that mood.
Oh sorry was sleepy, nah... not yet.

My  fortress thats going into its 5th year actually has had 2 black dragon encounters. The first time the dragon flew over my wall into some marksdwarves who I expected would be killed, a bolt  struck the dragon's heart and it died almost instantly. Second time around the dragon instead went through the front entrance and was captured, shortly after it was tamed and then placed at my Fortifications to spew fire at invaders.
