Unless all my allies want to disengage, I'll try to run them down to stop them from stealing our hard-won corpses.

General Discussion / Re: Israel-Gaza/Palestine war thread

I would add that I think this is unlikely to be a "higher-up", that is, high-level Israeli government order because the high-level Israeli government, however barbaric, aren't entirely stupid - they'd know that bombing a WCK convoy would be the end of ever hoping to regain sympathy in the world media, and their public statements have not at all been consistent with them having reached that point yet.

The "cowboy" mid-level decision theory is of course much more likely. I also don't know how much corruption there is in the IDF internally - I can't even speculate how likely this might be, but I can't rule out the possibility that someone was paid or "encouraged" to do it, perhaps by Russia, who have a known hatred for global organizations and a vested interest in discrediting what they see as a US colonial project in Israel.

Waiting to hear the apologists to come marching back into this thread to say how Bellingcat along with World Central Kitchen are Hamas information agents.
I feel bad for you, honestly.

I vote for whichever side faces the sun (ie, south if it were here where I live). These old pyramid-building types are usually into sun worship.

Tennessee legislates for chemtrails.

Quote
The bill forbids "intentional injection, release, or dispersion" of chemicals into the air.

It doesn't explicitly mention chemtrails, which conspiracy theorists believe are poisons spread by planes.

Instead it broadly prohibits "affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight".

Does this include greenhouse gases? ‘Cause it sounds like it could include greenhouse gases.

I really want someone to abuse this for greenhouse gases.
The BBC is a garbage site that doesn't deign to link to the sources, but I managed to find the actual bill text (this is an amendment, but it's an amendment that replaces the entire thing and it was adopted, so that's what it says now), and I can confirm that it does not. It only applies to injections, releases, and dispersions *for the purpose* of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight; secondary side-effects are not covered.

There was also this other funny amendment that makes it about Sasquatch, though, but it wasn't adopted.

I'm actually gravely concerned that mail-in voting could be used to increase voter fraud.
Let's leave it at this: If I'm not mistaken, Russia has universal mail-in voting *and* online voting.

I'm good with emptying the list, since I did Supernormal already and it'll be a long time before I feel like doing another.

Yes, and how does one counter "mob-rule"?
Well, the founding fathers did it by restricting the vote to landowners, for example.

Well, to answer your actual question, I guess the most important place to start is: how do you define "democracy"?
I generally look towards democratic institutions, like an independent judiciary, check & balances, peaceful transitions of power,, and other things. What are your thoughts? My headaches are coming back, help a brother out here?
I'm not sure what any of those have to do with democracy. Lord knows the ancient Athenians did NOT have any of them.

The point I'm making here is that "democracy" is a moving target. The way "democratic institutions" has been defined is... specific, and not really related to the idea of democracy, on purpose. Ultimately, the problem of "democratic backsliding" is always about the people wanting something you think - rightly or wrongly - is wrong, and the only solution is to either disenfranchise or convince them.

I think it's unlikely that the US would order the strikes to end, at least. WE take up most of the slack when Russian oil leaves the market. The US is the largest crude oil producer in the world, so we're happy to have prices go up. It's probably a combination of 1 and 2; Russia is notably strong in electronic warfare, so they almost certainly would start putting up drone jamming around their facilities which didn't use it before.

Populism then =/= populism (and specifically right-wing populism) now. I normally hate the "ideologies change" argument but it's true when ~2500 years have passed.
Honestly, no, a lot of the things they complain about are about the same, really. It's not a 1:1, but it's surprising how topical it can feel.

11
You know the Athenians revolted in favor of populism, right? Conservative, aristocratically-aligned writing of the time continually satirizes the democratic system and its major orators as populists.

I don't think I know how to heal anyone, so better attack the... scytherunner, I guess.

I assumed origins were background, but I forgot about abilities because they weren't in the sheet (and I just copied that over from my old one). I'll see to that after dinner.

Only 10% (by weight)? Bro hydrogen you got to lift, before your health crashes down like the hindenburg... What are you going to do if someones pisses you towards the sun? Oh you're just going roll into a s'pisscicle? Be the bigger mass.
If you get enough of it together to make a sun, it will start fusing and become the bigger mass, yes. Hydrogen's got this all figured out, man. Trust the plan.
