Octal aims his arm, destructive energies coursing throughout his body. The magic bursts out, hitting the dragon’s wings. They crumple and disintegrate into ash, blown away. The Dragon writhes in pain and falls into the sand where it slowly gets to its feet.

The fireball crashed into the Starlady, blowing it into fiery pieces, and sending Octal and Grognor flying off into the air, burning.

Dragon Health: 1/8

Causes level 3 harm to both Octal and Grognor, but can be avoided by Grognor spending 2 might to resist it. (Pretty much all negative effects can be resisted, basically you telling me, “nope, didn’t happen like that, this is what actually happened . . .)

Edit: This was not a full turn, Dgr, Jerick and Mallos can post actions, and Max Spin if assusted by 1 might from an ally.

Power crackles out of Grognor, twisting about and reforming the particles of the air around him. The lines of electricity start to take shape into a streamlined cutter. Octal, landing upon Grognor’s chassis, helps him channel and direct the power, catching stray arcs and putting them into place.

The electricity begins to die away, leaving behind the starlady (describe your creation dgr, like what it looks like, and how does it fly?)

(4)
After assisting Grognor create his ship, Octal aimed to free Ravana from his mental domination. Seeing the thread connecting the two, Octal empowered his spear with anti magic, making it shimmer in the light with distorting waves. He then threw it through the mental link connecting Ravana to the Dragon. The spear cut clean through, sailing away into the air. While it freed Ravana from mental domination, the delusion remained in place, making it hard for him to concentrate.

(3)
Ravana was joining the friendly dragon plummeting to earth. He would crush those assassins seeking to kill him! He would . . . A spear flashed by, and suddenly Ravana felt very woozy. He dropped.
Ravanna remains incapacitated, though no longer mind controlled. He can push himself costing 2 might to take an action, or just ask for help while dropping through the sky.

(5)
The Child forms his parachute, ballooning out and slowing his fall. While he does have control of it, it’s not fast and could be an easy target for, say, a fire spitting dragon.

(5)
John cackles as wings begin to sprout from his back. He turned and looked at them and smiled. They were large and beautiful! John is no longer falling.

The Dragon, unharassed for the moment, regains control of his flight. He swerved around to a pillar and lands on it, and raises his head. Fury fills his eyes as he summons his rage, and launches a fireball at the the Starlady. The driver or someone can spend 2 night to dodge the attack, or make a roll to avert it. (Changed the consequence from calling for aid because his vocal cords have been damaged.)

Clocks:
Dragon calls for aid: 3/4!

Crash into the ground: 3/4 (I believe only Ravana is currently in danger of this)

Dragon Health: 2/8

Amelia evaded her attackers, throwing scrolls and loose stones crying out for guards and words like “Freedom!” And “China!”  Guards soon rushes in and fought the attackers and killed them. Amelia went to her Nu-Sindari, who had begun the charging process. They hunkered down as they waited.

Octavian easily avoided the attack, sending her stumbling away. The other two soldiers collapsed as they fell on their swords. The woman got to her feet and turned back to Octavian. Her eyes seemed to clear, then widened in horror at the sight of the two dying soldiers. She fell to her knees as the memories flood back.

Prince Tal was horrified when he was brought the news of the attack. He quarantined the 6 remaining soldiers. They seemed to be free of mind control, and expressed shock at what they had done. They vaguely remembered a voice giving them orders they could not resist.

Prince Tal swore that he would provide aid whenever the Sindari need it, even if they need to keep their relationship private for the time being.

The Atlantean army mostly withdrew, leaving behind policing forces to maintain order in their territory. Over the past 30 years, the Empire has expanded massively   Their professional forces are spread thin, and discontent among conquered peoples is rising.

China is in recovery mode. The plague unleashed by Apollo has begun to die down, but the devastation it unleashed has crippled countless villages. Prince Tal has focused on using this time to train a match for the Atlantean professional army. He asks the Sindari if they could acquire several thousand lightening rifles, and perhaps assistance in training the corp. The Dragon Emperor spends most of his energy restoring the land, and increasing the defenses of the nexuses.

Japan has conquered Korea. The island nation remains strong under its empress. And rich. Even with generous terms, China has required much trade.

(Event is over, feel free to post your turn when ready! If you participated in the 2nd battle, your first year is spent at war. You can use that to gain a skill though! This turn will be 10 years/actions.  The Pharaoh event is moved to next turn. Thanks for your patience, and let me know if you have any questions!)

Masamune held the blade to the soldiers throat, not even winded by the display. The man’s eyes held a blankness, and his response was to ram himself into the blade.

Or tried to.

Masamune, seeing his intention, shifted his blade and slammed his elbow into the soldier’s face. With a crunch of cartilage, the man crumpled backwards.

The fight was over. Alarmed guards ran around outside, and stopped at the sight of Masamune standing over the bodies of Chinese warriors.

The three soldiers made no response to Amelia as they approached, and the lead soldier lunges forward with a dagger. Amelia reacted, her arm a blur as she deflected the attack to the side and slipped behind him. The other two drew their swords, their faces blank.

The woman stepped forward. “Know this, Sindari. Surrender your selfs to Atlantis, or our war will create even more rivers of blood and countless pain. Your struggle against us will bear a heavy price if it persists any longer. And it will not be borne by you alone.”
At this the other two soldiers draw their swords, and prepare to fall on their swords. The woman leaps at Octavian, a dagger in her hands.

The Dragon Emperor slowly shook his head. “You are wise and brave, Sindari, but my responsibility is to protect my people. We will accept their peace deal. The Sindari are our best chance to survive, so we will not abandon you. Become stronger, weaken them from within. When it is time to march, we will march with you.”

He closed his eyes. “The Nexus Points are an incredibly valuable resource. The Pharaoh could do much evil if he was able to access it. However, I cannot allow its destruction for it would cause to much damage to our land. Rivers would dry and life would leave this land. “

“Stay strong, Sindari.”

Turangol woke with a start. The Hunter was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps it was just a dream or vision. He searched his possessions for the soul gem of Eltirian, but he couldn’t find it. His head pained him. A quick scan of the future revealed no danger, but gave no signs of the Hunter.

Dragon’s Tooth remained in the Emperor’s hands, while the Atlantean army withdrew slightly to receive the tribute.

Meanwhile, during the night, Chinese soldiers burst into the room of Masamune. Swords drawn, the 4 of them rushed the now wide awake Sindari.

Amelia turned as 3 soldiers entered her study, interrupting her discussion with local nobles. Their faces were blank and full of terrible purpose.

2 men and a woman approached Octavian as he walked quickly across the battlements. They held up a hand to ask him to stop. They seemed vaguely familiar.

The wind whistles by as the Godslauers fall through the air.

(6)
Grognor the mechanical tank acted quickly, forming thrusters on the sides and bottom of his body. They rumbled to life, arresting his fall with a roar. The Dragon dived at Grognor with a roar, but the tank nimbly dodged out of the way.

Grognor is no longer falling, and has Great Position for his next action.

(3)
The Child’s aura seemed to grow darker, swelling with lies he crafted to turn the Dragon from a foe to friend. His voice would not carry well in the wind, so he attempted a mental link.
The Child reached out with his presence. The Dragon roared as he fought against the confusion filling his thoughts . But dragons are strong willed creatures, and this one hardened its will against the Child, and his mental assault was rebuffed. The aura faded around the Child as his lies were defeated.

The Child is still falling, and his attempt to turn the dragon failed, will have to try a different approach. Suffers level 1 harm Drained, can be resisted with 2 might

(4)
Acting quickly, Octal swung up on the now flying Grognor, narrowly avoiding the darting dragon. He focused his power and an ... emptiness formed in around his hand clutching the spear. With his will he sent the bolt of power into the dragon. It cried out as its vocal cords and understand of speech withered. Angrily it turned and whipped its tail into Octal, spikes tearing into his skin and sending him flying off of Grognor.

Octal is still falling, sustained Level 2 harm Slashed chest (can avoid damage for 2 might).

Causes 2 damage to Dragon ( 6/8 health left)

(1)
Ravana falls freely through the air, watching the dragon fly past with his 20 eyes. He forms a spear of nothingness in his hands and flings it towards the dragon’s mind with a thought
The spear homes into the dragon, but it twists in the air, seizing it in its talons. The spear turns black from the remaining lies harrying the dragon. With a diminished, croaked roar it sends it screaming back into Ravana’s body.

And then Ravana knew that the dragon was actually his friend and ally, and the other Godslayer’s were actually assassins sent to kill him.

Level 3 Harm suffered: Enthralled. Can reduce by 2 to Level 1 dazed by resisting.
Still falling.

(Critical success, 2 6s!)
John falls, arms wide and joyful. The Dragon circles back around the Godslayers and John’s joy turns to spite. Is boiling red magic pours out of him , and with a shout sends it shooting into the Dragon.
The Dragon tried to dodge the attack, but the spiraling red magic sinks into the dragon’s scales, enveloping the dragon. It cried out it pain as it started to dissolve its organs. It begins to plummet to the ground.

Causes 4 damage to the dragon (2/8 health remaining)

John is still falling.

Clocks:
Dragon calls for aid: 2/4
Crash into the ground: 2/4

(Going to retcon the 4 Godslayers to 5, so both Max Spin and Mallos are accepted. )

The Godslayers enter the portal and emerge from the other side, into the open air. They drop, falling to the ground. Grognor the machine begins to tumble.

Before them lays an wide expanse of sky, blue with wispy clouds trailing through the air. The sun blazes harshly overhead. Below lies a yellow desert, broken up by jutting stones carved by the wind. The sand might provide a cushion for your landing

Oh, and an angry dragon looks ready to devour you.

Nearly a hundred meters long, bright red scales flashing in the sunsFuriously beating its wings, it is charging at the falling Godslayers. It roars a challenge at them, flames spitting from its mouth.

Unfortunately it seems your entrance was somewhat prepared for.
What do you do?

(2 situations here. First one is the dragon charging you. Second one is you are quickly approaching terminal velocity as you fall to the earth. I’m going to make 2 clocks to represent these two dangers. These clocks will advance by 1 every turn, but may be reduced or increased due to consequences.

Due to the circumstances, your position is desperate, which increases the consequences but grants you a point of experience! Since this is the first battle, I will also give bonus experience for using might to aid others, giving yourself a bonus die, and resisting injuries. To aid others, consider if your regular action could assist another character narratively. If it does, consider spending a might point to add a bonus dice to their roll! Also, you should be able to roll on the discord. Good luck, feel free to ask questions!)

The Dragon Calls for Aid: 1/4
Crash into the Ground: 1/4

OK. Can we take actions yet?

You can move through the portal  :P

But good question! The Hallowed Halls have wards set up that prevent magic, and hides it from divine notice. So you can’t use your magic to create or destroy things in between missions.

The Darkness rises. The Godslayers are drawn to this corruption, and from the Hallowed Halls they must set forth.

The group march down the bright hall, wide enough for legions of warriors. This day, it is empty except for the 4 Godslayers and the Oracle. The portal lay in front of them, connected to the realm of Ashernipath. The Oracle stands before the group, steel grey eyes looking at the Godslayers and nods in approval.

“Your first task lays before you. You have begun to master yourselves, and proved able to harness the ancient Power. You alone posses the ability to end the gods that tyrannize mortals across hundreds of worlds. But they will not go down easily.”

“Ashernipath is a fearsome god, a giant with cruel appetites and tendencies. He rules over a wasteland of his own making, stripped bare by his greed. His domain lies over fire and the sun, be prepared for attacks from those sources. He sired giants from the mortal human stock, and they are just as bad as their father. They sacrifice men, women, and children in dark blood sacrifices, and feast on their corpses.”

“Ashernipath is empowered by these rituals and the worship of his dark heirs. Their society will need to be disrupted and purged to weaken the god. Save the mortals if you can, though rest assured that a quick death would be better than a fate from these monsters. “

“When you are ready, go through the portal. Stay strong, and may you return to us as Godslayers. “

(Glass, Jerick, and dgr11897 are accepted as first 3 Godslayers. Still have time to join in, and if you don’t make it in the first 4 there are will be reserves/ waitlist, and maybe a second team. So if you got a badass concept, create a character!)

Godslayers

Blessed with unstable, wild power, they fight to free mortals from the grip of tyrannous gods. They wield powers of Creation and Destruction, to purge gods who cling too long to their rule. They travel from realm to realm, bringing them into reality with each god they slay. There is little rest for them, being driven onward by their will and power until they die or become gods themselves.

Skills

Creation: The ability to magically create and restore. Can heal, create life and objects. Use must result in an increase of complexity.

Destruction: The ability to magically destroy and damage. Can wield forces of nature, disintegration beams, despair. Use must result in a reduction of complexity.

Prowess: Physical skill, strength and/or agility. Can be augmented, used to resist physical damage as well. Physical health.

Presence: Social ability. Can give commands, deception, inspiration.  Mental Health

Create and command legions of warriors. Wield storms to crash against foes. Duel giants, lead mortals to freedom.

The Godslayers are not bound by space or time. They are drawn ever onward, until they relinquish their power and die, or become gods themselves. The magic that fuels them is a wild one, harnessed just barely by their will. Some are mortal, driven to take up this power. Some were divine creations themselves, driven to take power.

Spoiler: Character sheet (click to show/hide)

Game Stuff

You start with 6 might points, which you can use to resist injuries both physical and mental/spiritual, add a dice to your roll, assist another, and generally twist things to your advantage. You restore your might after slaying a god.

Corruption: The power you wield is that of the gods themselves, and can corrupt the Godslayers into god. You take corruption when you die and return, and can take corruption as part of a dark bargain or to automatically succeed on a roll. When you fill the corruption bar you transform into a god, and are whisked away. When you kill  a god, your corruption is rolled. If the roll is equal to or less than your corruption level you become a god (perhaps replacing the god you just killed). Passing the corruption test after killing a god resets your corruption.

Might costs:
Resist: 2 might
Add dice or +1 effect to own roll: 2 might
Assist another with their roll: 1 might

Health: Consequences for rolls could include damage, based on a scale of 1-4. You can have 2 of each level of damage. Level 1 damage causes -1 effect level, level 2 causes -1d in relevant stat, and level 3 requires you to spend might or receive assistance to act. Level 4 causes death.

Effect/Position
Effect is generally how strong an action is in relation to the strength of the target. Position is the risk level of your action, helping define potential consequences for failure.
Most of the time it’ll be risky position/ normal effect, but if you get the upper hand in a situation it can show in an improved position or effecf

Making a desperate position roll is risky, but it grants you an experience point. You can have your action become desperate if you want the experience, but it may be hazardous for your health!

Complicated spells/crafting: Creating new beings, armies, earth shaking storms and other marvels takes a bit more time than casting a fire ball. Based on the complexity, it could take multiple successful rolls (or a crit).

Misc. Stuff
When you are describing an action, feel free to describe what you are doing, stopping just short of the results.

Go big! Take epic actions!

The game is inspired by Mythender, which is free and you should check it out! http://mythendersrd.com/index.htm

I’m looking for about 4 Godslayers to start. Let me know if you have any questions!

“Hmm,” King Tristan said as he leaned forward in his seat. “I can see why he would be concerned. But I believe that the benefits might outweigh the risks. We will direct him to to Lord Riskov, he may have ideas on how we can market this and other inventions.”

“How do your lands fare, my good Duke?”

The Dragon considered their words, and shook his head. “You tell me you may hold the fort in one breath and in the next tell me that you have prepared to destroy it. After it is destroyed, then what? Let their armies and disease ravage the land, taking what they asked for and more? Tell me otherwise if you believe me mistaken!”

Octavian and Amelia stand before the Dragon Emperor in his great hall. His great length lays coiled around the dais, upon which stands an ornate throne. His scales glow gold in the light.

Octavian informs the Dragon of Atlantis’s offer, which consists of surrender of territory they conquered, payment of a massive tribute, exchange of hostages, and the exile of the Sindari in exchange for peace and assistance with the plague.

Steam rises from his nostrils at this. He growls, “These terms are not to my liking, but my generals are afraid, and worry we do not have the strength to beat them. What are your thoughts on the matter?”

Octavian also tells him of the Pharoah’s plan to infiltrate one of the nexus of magical energy in China, and that disaster of an unknown form would result. The Dragon Emperor eyes narrow.

“My duty over these lands are to protect these nexus. You have done well to bring this to my attention.”

Wait, so he's an actual dragon? Why wasn't I told of this?

I don’t think it really has ever come up before.  :P

I'm pretty sure that the mind control thing is just a general ability of immortals with high levels of Willpower, or possibly a more Charisma-based ability.

Sorry for the spotty attendance recently, but given the whole maybe-the-gem-won't-work thing, what might be the best option? This guy DID leave his easy-to-hand weapons in the boat, anyway, so if I vanish into wind he might fail to catch me. He might also have appropriate preventative magic, though I guess we can HOPE that magic can only be countered if you know how it's done, not just what it does.

Or just give him the soul gem. . .
