It seems like a lot to add weight on top of everything.

Crouch behind something and wait for somebody other than myself to get shot.

I want to ask, what do you think the basic member of a guild should be called? Currently I have it as Disciple. This is not a official ballot kind of more of a casual "putting it out there" kind of thing. What do you think?

If something else preferably one word.

Keep in mind that some long-running players may never go beyond this rank. Also sometimes people that were once high-ranked may retire and become this again. Currently I feel like Disciple almost sounds derogatory or like calling someone a student. Some may be very veteran players.
I feel like it should be up to the guild. Like, for the guards it might make sense to call them Regulars, for Inventors they might be Tinkerers, etc.

34
I'd recommend swords be longer (aka need a SHEETH)

Some other basics

-torch
-pick
-wood axe
-fishing pole
-quarterstaff
-bow, arrows(QUIVER)*
-dagger

*Actually might be too complicated just yet
I was thinking a sword should be able to just fit in a backpack, since that is a way that they were commonly carried (or rather, wrapped up in cloth in a backpack).

I can certainly make all of those items available and give them prices. The question is whether we're setting their combat abilities, etc., over here, or in the ranger's guild?

35
It will take a little time to seed more ingredients. It is OK if the Inventors "spawn" items, they'll just be more expensive than crafting them.

I guess we'll want to make a requirement to post your inventor when performing your action for the phase. (If it is too lenient it can be hard to keep track if it is just for changes)

Simpler version
Quote from: I

E: Iron Sword (RH), Wooden Shield (LH), Small Pouch (Belt), Small Backpack (Back)
Pouch
[A|B]  A=Iron
[A| ]  B=Yellow Crystal
Backpack
[A|A| ]  A=Soothed dwarf
[A|A| ]  B=Empty bottle
[ | |B]
Sounds good. Should be easy enough for players to post an up to date inventory with this system. And I'll start offering pouches for 4 gold and backpacks for 8. Should be a good enough price for now.

What do you think of iron swords being three long ([X|X|X]), shields being 2x2, and all of the variety of magical items so far proposed being a single space?

Also, given the inactivity of this guild, do you think it's okay for me to hand down Guildmaster rulings on all of these till we have more people start participating?

Your edit looks good.

36
So held/equipped items are just the list, like you used before?

Are we ready for a vote or Guildmaster decision?
Yeah, an example inventory might look like this:

Quote from: Inventory
Equipped: Iron Sword (RH), Wooden Shield (LH), Small Pouch (Belt), Small Backpack (Back)
Quote from: Pouch
[A|B]  A=Iron
[A| ]  B=Yellow Crystal
Quote from: Backpack
[A|A| ]  A=Disgruntled dwarf
[A|A| ]  B=Alcohol to soothe the dwarf
[ | |B]

Should we make a couple of inventory holding items immediately craftable? It would be a use for wambler fluff.

37
I would recommend a new symbol for divisors to avoid accidents.

[ | | ][ | | ][ | | ]
[ | | ][ | | ][ | | ]

The only thing either way, is a middle divisor. _ and — would use a slot. Underline seems a bit much but possibly acceptable since tt/courrier is already recommended.

Perhaps just avoid middle divisions normally.

Or make a paragraph break.
Yeah, that looks pretty good to me as is.

38
That works for me. It shouldn't be wildly difficult to track. I take it equipped items won't count? One option would be to have default inventory only of pockets:
| | |  and | | |
Different storage solutions would have different dimensions. For example, a bandolier designed to hold only small items would be:
| | || | || | |
Where double lines indicate borders between spaces. A backpack would be large:
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
A scabbard would be long, and only able to hold blades:
| | | | |
And we could apply various different arrangements. What do you think?

39
Cooking!

I should add that to the Jesters.

(sound reasonable?)
I think if we want to make it an economic thing it should be handled here, but if it's an idle-hands sort of thing the jesters can take it.

If we're going to give people a reasonable amount of items they can hold, to some extent they're going to need to track it themselves. Even with for use spreadsheet tools, It'd still be a lot of things.

This gets more challenging when we want to introduce theft later on and so we should probably keep things fairly light for now cus they might need to change again and again.

A simple way of doing the grid, might just be to have it be one row and in simple ASCII with just like bars.
So you're saying something like this representing 10 spots:
| | | | | | | | | | |
with this being objects of size 2 and 3 taking up space:
|A|A|B|B|B| | | | | |
?

That's easily compressible to shorter text: Object A (Size 2), Object B (Size 3). Inventory Used 5/10.

Weapons don't come with any ammo when bought besides a single magazine already loaded, so I'll use the remaining 5 for 8 sniper ammo.

You get points for contributing, so you don't ever have to worry about running out of points.
How can we contribute? I'd love to rack up some points. I want to go harpoon and a second melee weapon. I'm trying to figure out if I should take a second weapon right away, and settle for an ax, or if I should hold out.
Scratch that, gimme a butcher's knife and a med kit and say hello to your new doctor.

Ye
Best to call dibs if you will do it soon. Otherwise first come first serve.

And especially with the reward I posted.
I'd love to claim that reward, but I dislike rolling for the outcomes of actions I've taken, so I'll leave it to somebody else.

An excuse to reread this. This is a wonderful day.

Sorry for double-post, but roseheart asked that the Mage's Guild checks in with you about some magical ingredients.

For one, we're thinking of using "mana crystals" as the main spell ingredient -- they come in different colors, which correspond to different types of magic (red, yellow, blue, etc.) Secondly, we're thinking of using "astral dust" -- basically acts as a conduit for mana and spells, also very often used. The Ranger's Guild is working on a yellow mana elemental, which is a sort of living embodiment of yellow magic. When it dies, it drops a yellow mana crystal, 5 units of astral dust, and a 25% chance of an "elemental shell" -- something that can be used for summoning your own elementals. There will be other kinds of mana elementals, again coming in various colors, which correspond to the type of mana crystal they drop and thus the type of magic which can be obtained from them.

What do you think of all this?
That sounds good to me. Do you have any other magical items that need to be immediately realized? Do you have an idea of how valuable they would be to the Inventor's Guild for crafting, or are they primarily of magical use?

Another important thing about items, is how they will be stored and the limits to capacity.

I think it would be really cool if we could do some kind of grid system. Like Resident Evil 4/Diablo II.
Yeah, that's something we could make work. I like those systems over weights, but the graphics would be relatively time intensive to make, and the system is inherently graphical, so that's sort of hard to avoid. I appear to be running a pretty empty ship here, but if I can come up with a way to make and populate grid inventories without driving myself crazy, I'll do it.
