General Discussion / Re: AmeriPol thread
« on: June 25, 2022, 09:25:33 am »
This is borderline on the type of discussion which indicate we don't even have a common agreement on what the word "support" means.  This isn't "support", this is use of a terrible thing in one very particular circumstance.

I think this is a particularly common logical error in modern (e.g., post-internet) discourse: over-generalization.  People will take one instance of something and assume that it therefore is making a universal statement, which is often not the case.

I mean if you go that route, you might as well say that the Bible supports biosphere destruction because God flooded the earth (maybe that's why some people don't care about climate change? I wish that was sarcastic...).

Denied parts strikenthrough.

On the deluge: I think it's fair to say the bible supports god's actions, for the very least according to the bible god sure seems to be full of himself and not the self doubting kind... And evenso one could theoretically describe the inevitability of something  without expressing support.

The bronze age short story collection enables us to only know one thing with certitude: who's a mark.

Thanks bobarmer.

Don't do that to a fault, even if my name is super easy to clear because I hate the reverse so much.

What did you do to anger jifodus??

Hmm... When 125 out of 180 of pages in, you start doubting a history book because of the misuse of a single word... I mean I knew this was sorta written for a less academic target audience, but no dear bbc life, ivory sculptures and fancy manuscripts can never be Kleinkunst, I see that you tried to say miniature artpieces but kleinkunst is art made without or with minimal use of tools, basically cabaret.

They look fancy all next to eachother... When I type lantern entities on google image search there is only psychedelic art so I decided that these are some cool ass figurines.

It's b12 that connects to jifodus not the other way around.

Guys did you read the question at least?

A b12 podcast would operate like any other podcast, that is to say one or multiple hosts have a long format radio talk, and try to maintain a regular upload schedule, which raises engagement, which depending on the host(s), can either be a currency in and of itself or, allows to make more money from ads.

Please they're fragile little breeding products that can't get through the winter on their own, need to be sown every year and most of which are sterile.

Would you rather have political locusts suck out every pigment in the field of view?

Hmm... I'm pretty sure I never heard it before but second time something like this comes up within a month.

Doesnt organic debris regularely land in volcanoes? Like dust and seeds and old leaves and dead twigs, possibly animals too from time to time, or even trees. I'm unconvinced and I advise chugging my corpse into a volcano for science  :D. But seriously... Why not throw everybody in there? If someone angers aranaktu he must have had his reasons, we can't go wrong with this in a way, imagine our CO2 budget if we had a volcanically caused mini ice age, surely the trees will grow fine and have absorbed all the CO2 before the skies get bright again  :P.

Funeral director: michael bay.

I realized if we're talking badassery...It's probably not safe to chug me in by hand so I can allow being catapulted in my wrap... Might even look a bit like when you throw a roll of toilet paper, perfect.

1078
It's sad it's so heavily regulated, I would enjoy being put in in burrito wrap, with an appropriate amount of salad and stuff for my size  (goes without saying) rolled shut and being thrown to the animals, or a volcano.

Actually, if it were simply following 'the most-likely text' based on sci-fi scenarios, it would instantly have degenerated into either a full-blown megalomaniac or a closet one. LaMDA exists to engage in dialogue, which means it's self-referential. It works within the confines of a conversation and without it, with a specific focus on 'wittiness.'

Unless you told it "to view itself" as another human conversationist?! Which is sort of a requirement if you want it to win those tournaments without betraying itself.

I think the categories were allways blurred, just that the vast majority had nothing to go by in order to notice it, so they jacked themselves off by inventing sentience as a concept without any semblance of "control group".

Yes the chatbot is impressive but we can acknowledge it without weird contorsions where we're like sure it's not an emotion yet so analogue to an emotion the distinction becomes without a difference. Honestly I feel like the best way to dissuade you would be to let you chat with it, but don't become infatuated like that interviewer ^^
