You can't dump things that are owned actually, but you can dump those which are held.

Are you sure? If you fill the barracks with a stockpile or a zone, your soldiers won't spar, so the stones might have an effect.

Yes... it's been changed from the original version. Now they just grab the closest thing of the item they want. Example: Fey metalsmith wants metal bars. He's got a gold bar right next to him. He'll take that gold bar. He wants leather. You've got a stockpile full of leather downstairs. He grabs the first thing he sees; swordfish leather. He wants a shell. Uh oh...

They also never want specific items now. So just make whatever you've got and hope for the best.

Yes. Regenned a new world twice in fact, after deleting everything in the objects folder.

I'll try again, see what's up.

If I remember right, all you have to do is delete the butcherable_nonstandard tag from humans (in the /raw/objects/creature_standard.txt) and you will be able to butcher them. You do not need to make a new world to get it to work either (err.. I don't think you do anyway).

I tried this. Doesn't seem to work. I don't think you can butcher civilized creatures normally since I also removed it off goblins, kobolds, elves, and dwarves.

I actually do give my dwarves coins. Around... 12000 copper, 4000 silver, 4000 gold. This way, dwarves don't get unhappy thoughts from lack of coins.

but I run a good system so it handles well. I won't recommend it to anyone with a weak processor though.

Oh, and ignore what the bookkeeper recommends.

edit: Oh, and I don't have any problems with cluttered coins either. The dwarves just stuff them in their rooms or leave them in the coin stockpile (albeit in mini piles).

I don't think anything destroys statues but I could be wrong (since I've never used statues to supplement walls before).

yes. They block movement though.

yes for both questions.

You could try building a perpetual motion power generator to avoid that (or use windmills)

It's complicated at first. But once you understand it, wow! Everything becomes so clear and yet... totally illogical.

Mrm... so many questions at once.

I don't know what you mean by underwater, since you obviously can't build UNDERwater as your dwarves currently don't know how to construct while diving without drowning.

If you have an underground lake or an underground water source, you can build a pump station there and nothing will happen during winter since water sources only freeze in winter if it's labelled outside.

If that pump is blocked (I assume by the ice freezing), it would depend on how complicated your system is. If you have more than one pump and one isn't frozen, then everything should be good. But for most people and most systems who aren't insane building 20000 safeguards on their water systems, yeah, your water system will halt.

If your "powerplant" is big enough, you could use just one to power your whole fortress. Provided you can build one big enough, that is. Most people normally just build power when they need it since it's much easier and simpler that way.

I have come across a strange bug where eventhough the water is labelled inside and subterranean, it still freezes in winter. So... I dunno.

You can draft and undraft them to cancel the command. Helps when the game bugs up and the command will never complete.

Patrol points... are kinda useless. Since anytime you want your military to do something, you'd want them to go to a specific point, not wander a set amount of points. Also, putting your dwarves on duty all the time is a waste of their free time.

I think you were probably thinking of sending those guys off to distant lands to conquer things in your name but unfortunately, it's not implemented YET.

To send them into a specific place. Click "m", then highlight the dwarf(ves) you want and click "v". Once you set them to "on duty" in that menu, click "z" to zoom to the commander and once you're there, move to wherever you want the guy to go and press "s". If it works, you should see a flashing light blue "+" on the spot where you clicked.

The guy (or squad) who you asked to go there will attempt to make his way there and slaughter anything in his way.

The stuff isn't forbidden and the dwarves have access to them, as evidenced bywhen I build weapon traps and use the lying around weapons, the engineers happily used them.

Oh well, I guess I'll just release the magma flow and incinerate everything if it becomes too big a problem.

No.

They actually haul corpses from the outside, but they don't get any of the other stuff like weapons or clothes in.

I've got all the stockpiles ready too. Kinda annoying.

Here's a question.

My dwarves have stopped hauling anything from the outside. I've got refuse gathering to accept gather outside refuse, I've got empty stockpiles sitting there and everything, so why aren't the dwarves carrying stuff to my piles?

They used to do it a few in-game months back, but now they've stopped completely and I haven't done anything.

ideas?
