I commissioned a new batch of excessively huge decorated floors for my pet dog to play in and when it was completed, I noticed that out of all the tiles, 90% of them were of dwarf faces.
So, I checked them all out and most if not all read something like this:
"This is ... of two dwarves. The dwarf is refusing the dwarf. The dwarf is weeping (or "looks confused" or "is disappointed" or whatnot")
All the others were of:
"The dwarf is dead."
... err... so, what does this mean?

I could swear I saw a tag for 'invaders' in there, near the series for 'weather' 'caveins' and a bunch of the other things I turn off for my framerates sake. of course, no clue if it really works or not.</STRONG>
You can turn off economy, rent, sieges, etc.
It's nice to know my dwarven children are sleeping on the souls of elves.
I guess they're silly like that.

All the others have the dimensions in the name, but the square one is 16x16? The hell? Is it 1600x1600?
A bunch of other interface questions:
1. Is it possible to use an interface but with different dimension sizes?
2. How do I know what the different dimension sizes are?
Cheers and thanks.

An infinite cycle. In some place, somewhere, a goblin clothesmaker is making millions.
Other than that, 5 good quality steel shields and some decent armour along with a few swords to outfit some military dwarves is usually enough to stave off but the most determined of foes. Keep in mind that ANY weapon regardless of quality is 5 times better than wrestling and any shield is better than none.
Also, if possible, build a few sentry towers a few levels above ground with some marksdwarves alternating sentry every season or so. This will almost guarantee the safety of any wandering dwarves within the area and is very useful in the later years. In my 8 year old fort, there are always 8 elite marksdwarves located within several towers around the external courtyard and ever since I instituted the sentry regimen, I have not lost a single dwarf to ambushes or sieges.
In fact, it's so effective that I've had ambushers pop out of hiding, completely surrounding a poor fisherdwarf and were but one square away from him... but all 8 of the enemies were slaughtered before they could even raise their weapons.
EDIT: and no, corpses don't create a cushion. Check their wounds, see if they are injured.
