DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Funniest Names
« on: January 17, 2018, 11:52:30 pm »
My newest world has a legendary ring known as "The Strapping Cat" as one of its artifacts. This would be an amusing enough name on its own...but made even better by the fact that it was created as a gift for a cat demon.

so kinda dawn on me that the demon was lying and had a second identity during a massive insurrection that started when I got to the spire.
oh well currently screwing around in Fort mode to see if I can get one of the dwarves to marry my goblin adventurer, then see if they fall in love with the demon next.
process probably going to be grueling waiting and pondering if I can lock 2 people in a room.
"What? Who? I'm afraid you've mistaken me for another lizard demon. I'm nobody special, nosiree... Just poor, humble Snang Hexrasps. 'Don't go calling folks by fancy titles,' mum (bless her soul) always told me, 'especially them wot comes offa strange slabs.' Words to live by, or I'm a beak dog's uncle!"

Someone please sig this

This might belong in the suggestions forum but...a number of fantasy stories out there feature mortal heroes that after a lifetime of great feats manage to achieve literal godhood upon their deaths. Might this possibility eventually be implemented into DF (it'd be quite a surprise following an unusually successful adventuring run to find one of my characters showing up in the deities tab of legends mode after a fatal battle with some terrible monster :P)?

Meh...necromancer-spawned zombie apocalypses will seem pretty tame in a few years anyway once we're able to gen worlds with mages capable of putting out the sun by clicking their tongues in just the right way. :P

Well, there ARE traditionally sentient forms of undead (vampires and liches, for instance), so with them the line between living being and fleshy automaton becomes a bit more blurred, but those wouldn't normally be the type to be animated by necromancers anyway.

It's only elf civs that are [AT_PEACE_WITH_WILDLIFE]. Individual elves, if belonging to a human or dwarven nation, are as vulnerable to attack by wild animals as any other race.

EDIT: Though after re-reading your post, I'm now guessing you already knew that.

Ok thanks. I'll consult the wiki on that (still enough of a newbie to the game that wells are an enigma to me :P).

Anyone have any advice to help me save a farmer in my current fort whom I happen to rather fond of (not that I particularly need her, I have plenty of farmers, I just think she has an unusual amount of personality compared to the others and would like to see her live)? She was attacked and seriously injured by a giant chipmunk a while back and while she's recovering from her wounds, I'm a bit worried she's going to die of dehydration seeing as there's currently a shortage of non-frozen water (and IIRC hospital-bound dwarves aren't able to drink alcohol, correct me if I'm wrong). Any help would be appreciated.

In other news, my civ is apparently at war with "The Dale of Smiths", a neighbouring elven country. Still waiting on a siege to make things interesting (may have to provoke 'em by raiding a scroll or two, wish me luck).

Lucky for you then that those will both undoubtedly be among the nigh-infinite possibilities. ;)

Agreed. Objectively good/evil magic systems sound a bit too D&D for my taste. Which I wouldn't mind for the occasional world but not as a general rule.

It's already possible to write plays in the game, but not to perform them.

With that detail aside, I agree with this idea. Having the ability to put on plays in adventure mode in particular would be a blast.

A: Pretty sure this belongs in the suggestions forum
B: Creation myths influencing in-game religion, and thus temples, is pretty much an inevitable necessity in the long-term, so even a suggestion probably isn't necessary.
