Monika

As soon as Marionette switched her focus back to Verna, Monika allowed herself to land, skidding across the ground with locked knees before coming to a stop. Now that she had some distance, she could try one last trick to stall Marionette, at the cost of leaving her defenseless to anything that came at her. Namely the monster she was currently trying to slow down. Regardless, Monika brought up her free hand, using it to help with her aim as she flipped the grip of her halberd, lifting it to her shoulder like a javelin. She'd have one chance to get this right, and at most it would only slow Marionette for mere moments, even if she hit.

Shortly after, Monika narrowed her eyes, focusing on her target and quickly going through the calculations needed to hit Marionette from where she stood. Once she did so, the Major pulled her arm back, before letting her halberd fly, twisting her body and firing off a blast of heat from her hand just before it left her contact, launching the Holy Weapon at incredible speeds at her chosen target.

Maria

With the skeleton taken out, Maria glanced back at the vampiric undead, just happening to notice it tear into the Prince. Bearing a look that crossed with annoyance and frustration, she quickly made her way to her Prince's side, firing an arrow into the undead just as Gaspar blasted it with his magic.

Monika

Though the chances of winning was swiftly approaching zero, Monika herself was also managing to shake off the rust that had accumulated during her imprisonment. So, when her feet hit the ground and signaled Marionette's charge, the Major barely wasted a moment as she set off yet another blast of heat under her feet, blowing apart the pavement underneath and launching herself back. Though she was thankful that Marionette was focusing on her, she was not going to give the monster the opportunity to engage with her weapon. So she forced herself back, continuing to set off explosions under her feet in order to move away from Marionette, and hopefully move her away from the bulk of civilians.

Raguel vs Sycophant

Of all her opponents in the tournament, the one she stood against now was one she was most familiar with. Simply for the fact that they had once fought before. It was that familiarity that gave Celica a better feeling than her last fight; Instead of walking into a fight stacked against her, she was in a field that played to her strengths, and against an idiot who had once been easy pickings for her claws. The key word, however, being 'once'. Being on the receiving end of her tricks would force her to be more creative this time around, as even an idiot would be more aware of the true nature of her Spark the first time they fell victim to it.

Still, it should be a remarkably simple walk in the park. Once her claws latched onto her opponent, it would be over in an instant.

"Raguel. I don't think we've talked since we arrived here" Celica commented as she switched on her communications, keeping to her ever-so sweet voice as she swiftly crawled through the tall grass, body practically sliding across the ground as she moved around. Patience was a virtue, and as always, Celica chose to wait, watching the angelic mech to see its first actions before moving in.

"I was not startled! I just lost my footing is all."

"Still, burning a sandwich? I'm... Somewhat impressed actually, and interested in how you accomplished such a feat."

"But, cooking is its own art, the same way forging is as well, and not everyone is as proficient in one or both."

503

"Tiaxian Mudfish? That's quite impressive. I also doubt that this will be the end of the two's issues, but hopefully they'll at least put a bit of effort into doing- GAH!" Reeve jumped as soon as Lin spoke up, nearly dropping the fish she held in her hands, scrambling in order to keep it from falling onto the floor. Thankfully, she managed to quickly get her footing, snapping back to a proper standing position and clearing her throat,

"Well Weylan, if I were to give a guess, I'd say that it comes down to a matter of preference. I happen to find my own relaxation in places like the kitchen, rather than in a hot forge."

Monika

Inwardly, Monika cringed when she saw Marionette claim her second victim, who had been unfortunate enough to be slightly too close to the mindless killer. Mostly because she herself had launched her closer. It was obvious that they wouldn't be able to actually take out Marionette, or even deal any lasting damage. She'd just kill someone and repair herself instantly. But, even then, the two had to cover the fleeing civilians.

With an explosion of heat launching her into action, Monika leapt into the air, her blasts erupting around her feet so that she could 'climb' over Marionette's range of death, positioning herself right above Marionette before sending another large explosion down unto her, allow the momentum of the blast to carry her further upwards.

"Perhaps because they were interested in exploring ways to spend their time together, or perhaps they simply ended up that position in some miraculous spin of fate. I truthfully didn't bother learning the 'why'. Do I look like the type of girl to pry into people's private affairs?"

"Ultimately, the point is that they've been reminded of their responsibilities, and should be more focused. I just wanted to let you know that, and bring up some relevant information should you two decide to help out those lovebirds in the near future."

At Kaede’s scoff, Reeve visibly deflated, pushing herself off of the Treasurer with an audible sigh,

“Aw, and here I thought I’d be able to get a reaction out of you. Ah well, can’t have it all.”

“But no, I’m still being serious. At least partially. We found them playing with tape, and seemed pretty into it before we interrupted them. I believe Kuriyama’s exact words were-” Reeve paused, clearing her throat before mimicking what Himiko told her, managing to change her pitch so that she almost sounded like the Union President, but not quite, “‘This is official Union business!’”

“The two then proceeded to talk all over each other in an attempt to defend themselves, bickering like an old, married couple. Was quite adorable, to be honest, but they never did explain how them being on top of one another was 'union business'.”

507

"Oh yes, he happened to be correct this time. You'd be surprised at what people do behind closed doors, even when they're not locked" Reeve stated, quickly moving to Kaede's side, leaning up against the Treasurer with a mischievous grin,

"See, when we entered the Union room, we happened across quite the scandalous sight. Our dear Prez and Vice-Prez on a couch, Kuriyama on top, Harvey below-" Reeve continued, leaning in further and bringing a hand to her mouth so she could whisper her next words to Kaede, content to leave Jackson to his own imagination,

"-kissing each other. Lip. To. Lip."

508

"Miyajima, I don't carry around a camera, so I don't know how you'd expect me to present physical proof, or any proof beyond just telling you to question them yourself"

"However, if you really want details, all you need to do is ask. I'd be more than happy to share what Cattleya and I saw at the Union room."

509
Miraculously, Reeve managed to retrace her steps back into the Dining Hall, striding into the large room with no sense of subtlety. Not bothering to wait for a moment, she immediately locked onto the two Union members, having a polite chat while they no doubt waited for Reeve and Cattleya's report, naturally heading over to them,

"Hello again Miyajima, Sloane. I hate to interrupt, but Cha-Cattleya and I have returned from our meeting with the dear Prez and Vice-Prez" Reeve stated as she approached, clapping her hands together as her smug grin grew, turning her gaze to the Union secretary,

"Sloane, your hypothesis seems to be correct, the two are obviously going through some lover's quarrel. With any luck, them being reminded of their jobs will be all that's needed."

"Focus on killing it instead of wasting time trying to talk Gaspar. You're free to dissect the corpse and add it to the records once we're done." Maria commented, smoothly ducking underneath the Skeleton's swing and weaving through the pillars, only taking a moment to turn back and fire an arrow at the undead's head.
