Bio: Life in the Borderlands was a constant struggle, each day bringing about new threats in the form of the Shadowspawn. In these lands, one would inevitably need to defend themselves from the teeth of the Trolloc, and as such, most were trained to do their part to protect their homes and lives. Camira Naeronne is one of these people, born in Arafel as the second child and only daughter to the small Naeronne family.
Being born in the Borderlands, Camira was given the basic training everyone received, but unbefitting of a young lady, Camira was not content with just the basics. Head filled with dreams of glory and combat, Camira pushed her father to further her training, eventually forcing him to cave into her demands once he learned of her private training sessions. Acknowledging her drive, her father contacted a friend of his, an old blademaster who had been searching for a new pupil.
From there, Camira’s talent with a blade was found and refined, the young girl quickly rising to her new mentor’s expectations. Like with most of her people, Camira had found joy in the bleak Borderlands, a life that had meaning and a future.
But eventually, her world came crashing down on the day a routine patrol turned into a sinister encounter. Alongside her mentor and five other men from her town, Camira came across a Myrddraal, one of the most fearsome Shadowspawn to roam the Borderlands, and its company of Trolloc. Knowing the risk of leaving such a creature free to roam, the seven charged the black robed monster, a long bloody battle that altered Camira’s life for the worse. In the aftermath, all of the men that had accompanied them were left slain, her master joining them as he sheathed the Myrddraal’s sword with his body, giving Camira the opening she needed to decapitate the monster.
Despite her own opinion of the matter, Camira’s actions were hailed as heroic by her community, especially when she returned with the decapitated head of the monster and her mentor’s sword. Seeing her as her mentor’s successor, Camira was entrusted with the duties he had possessed, one of which being the protection of a village disconnected from her own.
At first, Camira held her head high, taking her new duties with pride, as they were not responsibilities given to just anyone, especially not women. But inevitably, her skills were put to the test once again as a small group of Trolloc moved past her village’s borders. Ordinarily such a small group wouldn’t be too much of a worry, but their proximity to the village she was charged with forced Camira into action, heading out with a few men under her command to deal with the infestation before it grew into a problem. However, her haste was a grave mistake, because in the few days that she was gone, a massive Trolloc horde had rushed into the village, slaughtering all who lived there and razing the buildings to ash.
Due to arriving at the aftermath, Camira was spared the worst of the horror. But even still, she was left broken, pride shattered at failing her most crucial task. In her distraught state, Camira remained at the ruined village for two days, even when those following her had long left, only leaving when she came to a conclusion: She could never return home until she was able to restore her honor, as there was no singular punishment in her culture that could rectify her mistake. She would have to accomplish a task that would outweigh the severity of her sin.
So, keeping her mentor’s sword as a reminder for her mistakes and goal, Camira left the Borderlands, heading deep into the continent and taking up the role of a hired blade, quickly building up a reputation as having an extreme talent for the blade, but a strict code of honor and justice. A difficult combination to keep control over, but an invaluable asset to those who could keep her in check...
