Reality would reboot eventually and we’d be able to start over again anyway.

Yeah, and I'll be able to play!

Urist would wander aimlessly through the miasma and still complain about his environment being 'stinky'

WWUD if he was turned into an elf?

I have some questions about the game, since I'm not sure yet if I wanna join or not. If you could say anything about these that'd help me decide.

-What will the tone of the game be like? On the one hand it seems to involve fighting monsters, which gets an automatic plus from me, but then it also mentions 'classes' and such pretty often in a way that makes it sound a bit like those high school RP things. How is the balance between these supposed to be? Is it lighthearted or more serious? Or like that thing they have in some anime were they mix the things, with silly school shenanigans one moment and limbs flying the next?

I am going for a mixture of light-heartedness and seriousness, with a healthy dose of black comedy. As for the classes, they are there to give the students a chance to learn skills that will aid them in battle or some other tasks. As for the silly school shenanigans, they will come about either due to the actions of the players themselves or if the NPCs if I want to spice things up a bit.

-The rules mention death coming quick but then also say you can be patched up from nearly anything. So, how high are the stakes exactly? How bad is it if you screw up? Is there a real failure state?

I haven't thought about any high-stakes, irredeemable states of failures at the moment since the game would just now be starting. However, a plan I'd been having concerning missions is that if every student participating in a mission gets wiped out, the enemy will fortify their position if they are still lead by intelligent characters, making it harder for the players to just waltz in there right after dying. However these circumstances are not to be expected in each mission, at least initially. Future plans will see the student finding a means to get straight back into battle and the challenge rating getting harder in response. For example, if the students collected enough materials in previous missions to build something of a 'mobile respawn point', then another objective would be to protect it from the enemy. However, I do plan to include events that occur due to the players' failure to stop something in time.

-What is the gameplay format like? Is any person free to do whatever, will there be mission cycles, freeroam with occasional events?

There are indeed mission cycles with interspaced rest times where you can do whatever you want as well as events. You can even choose not to participate in any missions if you want to do something else, whether improving yourself or even free roam. There aren't much restrictions in Altera Vita.

I hope that I'd answered your questions sufficiently and clearly.

Granted but its special properties actually catches your body heat and slowly releases it back to you, which is slowly building up the longer you wear the suit. You are slowly cooked alive by your own body heat.

I wish to serve man.

Granted, now your character is flat and uninteresting.  :P

I wish that life was a role playing game with infinite lives.

Hmm, in that case. It's fine the way it is. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Alright, here's the character sheet.

Spoiler: Jun Yeung (click to show/hide)

Everything's looks great! Just as a note: your character will start out with being able to use only two connecting portals for the same of balance. Other than that, your app looks good!

Also, @Dustan Hache, I'd just realized that your character's Psyche could be overpowering. Would you like to have a duration or some other condition?

The feeling of the twisted doll's presence is still fresh in your mind. You try to call upon it for some quick modifications to your doll. Unfortunately you can't concentrate enough to begin the transformation.

Jack reaches the guard before he can recover and kicks his gun away... straight into the guard's chest. The guard reaches for the gun again, Jack falls on him and they struggle, each trying to pull the gun away from the other.

You try to change the doll again. You manage to fix its legs somewhat but its transformation is far from over. You direct it to help Jack with the guard. It reaches the two and helps direct the gun towards the guard's head. Jack pulls the trigger, splattering the guard's brains all over the door.

Jack looks at the gun for a second.
"Thanks for the assist."
He tosses it aside, wipes the blood from his glasses on the doll and then searches the body for a security card.
"Those guys are professionals. We can't underestimate them."
He finds the card and gets ready to move.

Your dolls at the intersection just ambushed a security guard coming to help and they're keeping her occupied, but you don't want to take any chances. You take your gun and use it to slam the security panel, breaking it. You reason the safest lock is the one without a keyhole. You go through the door and shut it from the other side.

The area beyond is an intersection with conveniently labeled signs. "Vault Elevator" is right in front of you, an elevator with large heavy-duty armored doors and two key-card readers. "Armory", "Security Control" and "IT" are on your right. "Safe Deposit Boxes", "Management" and "Engineering" are on your left.

♚The Doll Prince: The First Time's the Hardest♚

Looking behind them at the security door, Napoleon thought about the guard he'd helped Jack killed. Sure the man was dangerous and sure they were running out of time and Napoleon knew what he had to do but the feeling still bothered him even if he'd only helped did the deed. Despite possessing the means to do so, Napoleon had never killed someone before. Sure he always used his dolls to take down scum but it never crossed his mind to end their existence. Not that he would make a case for complete non-violence of course but even bloodshed was out of the question... until now. Though he'd considered himself more of a pragmatist than a pacifist, Napoleon was everything but a killer and now there was no way to wipe away that stain. To make matters worse, once the other guards discover their dead comrade in front of the door, they will be more intent on sending them out of the casino in a pair of body bags. Even if they proved merciful to take them alive, both Napoleon and Jack could spend years behind bars, no doubt at the mercy of predatory malefaiteurs. Either way, Napoleon will have to once again soak his hands in the blood of people who are just doing their jobs.

"Excusez moi while I recompose myself, Monseigneur Jack," Napoleon said as he collected his thoughts. This is about survival and a clear head is very much needed here. "The first time is the hardest but better them than us. Anyway, by the layout of the entrance to the vault elevator, two security cards must be swiped, perhaps at the same time and we only have one. However, there got to be emergency stairs nearby or some similar access points that the guards can use just in case the elevator stops working or if there's a fire. Let's look for those first."

Search for the aforementioned stairs or exits to circumvent the elevator. If none can be found, go to Security Control since that's where more security cards can possibly be held. Finish modifying the doll now that he can concentrate a bit better. To take his mind off his recent deed, ask Jack how'd he came to be in the same situation as him with the Queen. In other words, ask him what's his story prior to him meeting with Napoleon.

Annabelle looked confused as she watched Dis roll some dice while staring intently into a bowl of water. At first, she thought that he was going mad but then she remembered that he is Awakened, just like her. For all intents and purposes, he could be staring at something elsewhere, using the bowl as a means of observation. If that's the case, why was he rolling dice? In her studies during the time before Serapis' arrival, she came across knowledge of people who practiced divination. Basically, they would seek to determine their gods' intentions by looking for signs in mundane items and rituals. Whether it entailed reading the discoloration on a goat's liver or in what position bones landed when tossed, divination was used to make choices and predict future events. However, Dis was repeated rolling dice. Was he not happy with where the dice keep falling or was he actively manipulating fate, using the dice as foci for his ability? If so, what exactly are he trying to achieve?

Annabelle will continue to watch Dis, reading his expressions and actions while remaining as quiet as possible.

so now that we have players in plural, does this mean an IC thread will be up soon?

I'm thinking about waiting for at least 6 people to sign up before I start

-snip-

Everything looks great so far! Based on the description of your Psyche, you're basically using your Willpower, the sum of your mental determination, to boost a magical attack to make it 'Go Even Further Beyond' its normal power see what I did there? XP. This would not only mean that it's good for the same round you're using the magical attack in question but would involve using some of your Willpower to do so, having some remaining for any Willpower checks in the same round.
That's the idea, yeah. Is the sheet good to go in its current state, then?

It certainly is. I'd even updated the Google Drive files and the Player list.
