DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Whats the traders problem?
« on: January 19, 2019, 09:23:20 pm »
How much was what you were buying worth?
I've found it to be around 40-50%.
I shoot for 50%. Depending on the broker's skills, sometimes the trader is ecstatic at 40%, sometimes they won't take anything under 60% without a counteroffer.

I believe it was around 30ish but i wasnt exactly taking notes.

But i remember it was a LOT of stuff

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Whats the traders problem?

I was recently trading with a human caravan with a VERY big trade i offered about 7k in profits...

They demanded 20k in proftits

Eventually he got impatient and i settled for 18k

Does anyone know the sweet spot for these things or bend over and give up your jeweled flasks

Raiding is a new DF mechanic where you can send out squads to raid other settlements (which can goad the victim into eventually going to war against your civ). This is done from the 'c'iv screen. I assume the wiki contains info on how raids work.

Wow its been a minute sense I've played. Thanks for the help

1) What is your population (not including visitors)? Goblins ignore you completely until you reach 80 (in vanilla settings).

2) Were there goblins in your list of neighbours when you embarked? They won't come if they're too far away.

3) How many raids have you sent out so far to encourage goblins to attack you (they'll ignore the pop and distance limits if you provoke them into war).

1) I think its 160ish.
2) I believe they were? I wasnt looking for it but like I said I'm parked nearby savage lands and I coulda swore there was a civ in it
3) uh raids??

I posted on the wrong board so I figured id make a new one here, I used to play all the time but I'm back from my break
After 10 years on my first fort I don't know what a goblin looks like
I do know what 5 Forgotten beasts look like- 14 casulties
One captured, tamed, then rouge Hydra- 1 legendary miner and a trained cave crocodile
one Ettin- 42 animals

So I'm next to a savage lands but across the world from a goblin civ, Should I start a war with humans or just wait for a Forgotten beast to finally make my fort fun

General Discussion / No goblins... lucky or bug?

First post in a long time I used to play this all the time but now I'm back and after 10 years of striking earth-
5 forgotten beasts-claimed 14 dwarves
1 Hydra- Captured
Ettin with a legendary copper spear- claimed 42 animals

I've had about 6 trade caravans total. truly as peaceful as it gets.

I'm a day travel from a savage area but no goblins in it... but near the glaciers there's one. Far north

so should i start a war or just accept ill have to wait on a forgotten beast to eventually end my fortress?

Just to clarify I had do now and suspended EVERY job I could (couldn't stop stockpiles or plant jobs) and yes I made sure I didn't suspend the lever job

Maybe they all felt suicidal

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Nobody feels like pulling a lever... Fun times?
« on: September 06, 2017, 11:46:36 pm »
So my second goblin aeige I got a ton of goblins against my 30 poorly trained troops stood no chance against the 40 warriors and their bird things so I activate my bridge! I have a tunnel into my base with LOADS of traps ready to go

Only problem is nobody felt like pulling the lever to save everyone they would rather pray or socialize...

Next fort any tips for this? Or just lock myself away and say goodbye to traders
