DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's changed since Wheelbarrows?
« on: December 13, 2017, 12:30:16 pm »
Not that the game is really being developed in terms of "arcs" anymore, except in larger-scale terms (like the myth & magic arc).
true, I was just saying the caravan arc because I feel this guy is familiar with the old definition arcs instead of our current definition of arcs being
huge, game changing additions.

I recently re-watched the FIVE episodes of the clerks show, shame it didn't get more episodes.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Giant with necromancer slab
« on: December 13, 2017, 10:51:57 am »
I'm not sure the slab is usable in fort mode.  Can dwarves read it?  I was under the impression that they'd only read books.

Actually, since we're on the subject, if you do get a book that contains the secrets of life and death, will dwarves become necromancers if they read it?  And can they make a book from a slab?
to all of your questions, yes. the slab does need to be in book form, but the dwarves can copy it into a book I believe

2. this happens with barrels and is equally annoying

3. I think in general this is a problem with stockpiles in general, it happens with barrels too (why seed stockpiles shouldn't have barrels) so I think the stockpile system needs to be reworked at some point (I think toady said he was going to rework stockpiles when workshops become zones)

I think, after the Star Wars Holiday Special, all notion of artistic integrity was lost.
I personally think that artistic integrity was lost after episode VI, at that point the movies stopped being WWII in space with good characters and became a cash cow to milk (look at all the star wars toys, and the 2nd coming of the ewoks pogs or whatever they're called)

Thanks. In hindsight I realise I should've just asked "is it a live action movie" but I guess I'm just naturally needlessly convoluted.

As for the thing in itself I'm a bit in the edge. Maybe I'll get used to it. Looks a bit extra strange if it's just her though.

Also. Isn't Japanese girls getting eye problems from real life "mangaisationing" of their eyes a problem already?
I think people in america do the "mangaistioning", or what ever it's called. nothing like permanently fucking up your eyes to have anime eyes

I cannot stand Harry Potter, but that was bloody hilarious.
Maybe that's why I liked it so much... it was a vast improvement on the godawful originals. :))
same here

It must've been one hell of a markov chain generator. I've never seen one make any kind of coherent narrative at all in the past, or properly place both quotation marks around dialogue.
I think the way they did it was they had one for the story and a few for dialog to have it be set up properly

For a second, I thought that my kitten meows without opening his mouth.

Also, I'm the only one who never 100%'d a video game?
I have never 100%'d a game.

My grandfather had the flag of a Cathedral in England which had bullet holes in it. I can't quite remember the story of how he got it, but it was certainly interesting.

My brother brought it into school, and someone burned it. They were Irish, and it was too British  ::) Bastard.

shame that happened. that flag seems rad

speaking of WWII items, my friend in California has a bed frame that's worth a lot of money. The local museum wants it (think they said they would buy it for a million, or something dumb like that). the story behind it is a woman in his family (I think it was great great grandmother, don't remember) wanted to keep the frame but nazis were going to take it and melt it down to make bullets, what ended up happening was in the night that woman sneaked back into the house (the nazis kicked them out) took the bed frame and smuggled it out to america.
my friend refuses to sell it to the museum.

why not have it so you have to pay to use the box, something like you need to put x amount of wax before you can summon the wax golem. why not have it so every time the wax golem is summoned the price changes (roll a d20 for the next price, so a 1 will cost 1 once of wax and a 20 will cost 20 ounces of wax).

just looked up the book (its available as a pdf) and there is no mention of half trolls or trollkin (another term I saw floating around)

405
A half-troll like what you'd want would normally be way too spicy to put into a regular party, no way that it doesn't give you some serious LA and no way it lets you actually regenerate (which is what I assume you mean with the limb removal thing - limbs fight on and that sort of thing). Like here's a homebrew example for 3.5 and here's one for 5E.

cool thanks for these links
I sent my GM the 3.5 one (he already saw the 5e one and said he didn't like a bit of the stuff in there).
I'm sure that at this point the GM and me are going to make a half-troll from scratch.
