tbh I think that if meph came back he would probably be crucified by the community, or at least the most hatted modder on the forums.
He already is considered that amongst the modding community, I'll say as much.

haha what the fuck i'm pretty sure i'm historically the most public masterwork hater and i still think that's a ridiculous statement to make
I've maybe twice seen hate for Meph, not sure how that's most hated...

I'm just a bitter asshole with bad opinions, but when you donate money to someone/something you expect them to do what they promised, and when they don't deliver that promise I just kinda lose respect for that person/thing (kinda why I hate the red cross).

but then again I've got bad opinions on things.

Is this, instead of the procedurally generated religions described in great detail in the dev notes and Toady's
numerous talks on the subject, or in addition to it?
I was thinking about adding on to the random gods with some more interesting things.

Not sure what you're suggesting be added/changed with the first and last point.
guess I should have been more specific with that, so for the first one I was thinking that the general temples (no specific god) will be less useful and the temples for specific gods need certain items/furniture to be complete (like a war god associated with axes needs axes in the temple for proper prayer) as for the last one, I was thinking more like if a god is on great terms with you, you might get a divine weapon (don't know how it would work all that much) or they might stop a killing blow on you, but if you're on bad terms with a god, the god might try and ruin your adventure or just curse you.

Army arc is a long, long way from done.
I'm pretty sure that it's the next update, but might just be bits from the army arc with the caravan arc done

you should only have one clay/sand zone because a single zone produces an infinite amount of clay/sand. the dwarves may be getting confused by the two zones (no clue why, also you may be the only person that has had this problem). if neither works try closing and starting dwarf fortress back up.

My dwarves are engraving the entire fort with every gory death in known history, I mean it, the halls are lined with countless depictions of dying dwarves, elves, goblins and humans. In the sleeping area they are PARTICULARLY engraving dead/dying dwarves and elves, also coins. What happy thoughts while you go to sleep every night.
that's just kinda how the engravings go, since there is so much fighting and killing in the legends there is a very high chance that the engraving will be of a dwarf smashing a elf's skull in with a hammer.

Meanwhile a farmer has lived for one year without arms, giant monkey helped on that count, locked her in her own room though, waiting on her to die, she has spent more than a year wailing about how she can not "store item" due to inability to grasp anything. As to how she is managing to eat and drink, no idea.
if she can't leave her room it sounds like a very strange glitch, if she can leave her room it could be something like she just eats like an animal now.
if you want to kill her set up a small room, make an atom smasher, burrow her in, and pull the lever.

so here is just a few things I would like to see in DF with gods
Dwarf mode
1)randomly generated temple requirements (non-specific temples will not be as good as temples to specific gods, each god needs specific things for a temple, like death god needs coffins/bone things, war god needs weapons/armors,etc.)
2)crusades (with the army arc done, why not have certain religions attack to purge heretics, other religions are more likely to crusade than others)
3)race/culture exclusive religions (dwarves won't worship a sun god but will worship a mining god, a certain region worships a hero local to that region as a god)

Adventure mode
1) bring back religion
2) offerings (make offerings to gods, whether that is life or item, can make a god happy)
3)intervention (a god decides to intervene with something whether that is good for you or bad for you)

okay so I just looked this up, the dwarf has a higher level in fighter and striker than marksdwarf (adequate is a level higher than novice), so I guessing that he was going to be ambushed by the olm (just going off of the observer skill here) but noticed it before he was attacked, so he was too close to use the crossbow and since the crossbow is made of wood and he has either no level or a very low level in hammerdwarf he deiced that the crossbow would do less damage to the olm than if he started punching it. As for the backing away I think he was trying to get range for the crossbow to be effective, but the olm kept getting up.

I've been using taverns for a long time now, but I know that you can bring in weird things through the taverns (like gremlins, cave spider people, plump helmet men) so if I want to bring in visitors/residents/civilians like this do I have to build a tavern in the caverns (or at least closer to the caverns)

The Streamer "Vargskelethor" got me into this game last year, I kept watching him play so I decided to play it myself. Complicated to learn at first, now I love the game and cant wait for the update :D
joel also got me interested in Dwarf Fortress
