Building a pump stack, can't seem to figure out how to make so that I can choose the mechanisms for the linking. It shows me which ones will be used, but clicking on that just seems to cancel things up.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: (Steam) Forcing uniforms while off-duty?
« on: December 14, 2022, 02:36:31 pm »
Isn't there an option in the schedule menu? Should be next to the one about wearing uniforms over clothing.
Ah, managed to find it. Had to check the individual orders, not the general schedule menu.

DF Gameplay Questions / (Steam) Forcing uniforms while off-duty?
« on: December 14, 2022, 02:00:44 pm »
Been trying to make a military squad, can't seem to figure out how to force them to always be in uniform, even while off duty. Anyone knows how to deal with that?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / (Steam) Trade Wagons
« on: December 12, 2022, 01:58:28 pm »
Been playing with the Steam version, haven't gotten any caravan with a wagon yet. I think my Depot is Wagon accessible, but either I can't check on this version or I haven't figured how to do so yet. It does have a 3 wide route, no stairs or anything else in the way, and the map is sparse enough with trees that they shouldn't block it either.

Do caravans just don't bring wagons in this version? Am I just getting unlucky and getting small caravans? Something else?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Flask Weights
« on: February 07, 2022, 03:02:34 am »
How else are they supposed to carry their full ration of booze?

Maybe use tin or something instead.
I mean, at that weight they might as well have strapped on a wooden barrel* (with avocado**, a pretty middle of the road, if on the slightly lighter side) weighting 10 Urists, just about the same as a silver flask, and then they would really be able to carry a proper booze ration.

* Speaking of which, the metal barrels probably are rather overweight too. Dwarves seem to like make things thick***.

** Now I'm feeling like having some Mexican food.

Can you elf-loving sons of a goblin stop being convinced by foreign agents to steal our artifacts? I like displaying them in the tavern for all to see, but for Armok's sake, I can't go a week without having to track down a "misplaced" artifact, and a month without having to kill a "visitor" trying to just go away with said artifacts.

Do I have to lock the artifacts down in fortifications or something?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Flask Weights
« on: February 04, 2022, 06:21:53 pm »
So, been outfitting my military and decided to be a bit ostentatious and give them silver flasks instead of simpler waterskins. Except that when I go check the empty silver flasks, I notice that they weight about 10 urists, which seem excessive, given that a steel breastplate is about 16 and a silver mace 8.

So, gotta ask: Do I have a bug/typo in my raws? Are they supposed to weight 2/3 of a breastplate? Really, how thick are my dwarves making those flasks? Because that's more like a solid brick than a mostly hollow vessel.  :o

Other Games / Re: What are you currently playing?

Right now alternating between Shadow Empires and Monster Hunter Rise. One is still rather buggy, unbalanced and needs work but still manages to be very fun, while the other is a very fun games, even if it is still buggy, unbalanced and still needing quite a bit of work. :P

Other Games / Re: Aurora - The Dwarf Fortress of 4X Games

Just went on the Aurora forums after a couple months without visiting (also, huzza! C# Aurora is out!), and this passage on the updated terms of service made me chuckle:

Quote
There will be no discussion, asking for, promoting, or writing of mods to Aurora VB or Aurora C#.
Steve must have gotten seriously tired of people insisting on the subject time after time.

I don't know if it has been released yet (or even if it got canceled/fallen into development hell), but I recall seeing something about what was essentially a game very heavily inspired by Lords of the Realms 2, to the point of arguably being a spiritual successor, but I can't seem to recall its name. Obviously not Lords of the Realms 3, that one sucked balls, and the game I'm thinking is far more recent.

Anyone know which game/project I'm talking about?

It was definitely a third person game, and I do recall it being newer than Arkania. I actualy checked those one outs, because the name got a bit familiar, but it wasn't that.

Also, Aoi, get in contact your local embassy if you haven't already. They are probably the best equipped to help and counsel you in this situation.

Edit: Aha! Found it! It was Arcatera The Dark Brotherhood. I knew it had something sounding like "arc" or "ark" in it!

There was this old 3d CRPG I can't for the life of me remember the name, not very popular, had an early "npc daily routine", and at least two of the characters were, I think, a monk (western, not martial arts) novice who used to be a thief, and a young woman who was a wizard apprentice.

I remember it wasn't all that good, but if I can't remember the name it will absolutely gnaw on my brain until I do.

In terms of stability and some logistic feature, wouldn't it be better to fork it from CDDA? Assuming there's no major backend issue involved here, it sounds easier to change what you want from the further developed CDDA than trying to many times "reinvent the wheel" addressing issues and bugs CDDA already did.

Still, either way, if it goes forward it will be very nice to have as a counterpart from the "hyper-realism all the time" direction CDDA has been going.

You're not thinking of For Honor, are you? It's not CRPG, but there was a lot of hype about historical accuracy (at least for the combat), and then things went a bit looney tune.
No. It might have been Mordhau though, but I'm fairly sure it was a RPG, not first person medieval "arena".

Darklands?
No, newer than that, I believe it was crowd-funded too, although I can't be entirely sure if it actually was or if the internet hype about its development just happened around the same time as crowd-funding was at its apex.
