So, just grabbed pokemon Y used (technically. Someone with an European 3ds had bought it, couldn't make it work for obvious reasons and returned with the store, but since it was already opened, it couldn't count as "new" anymore, which means her loss was my profit. :P )

On other notes, since my character name is Felius, apparently I'm going to be nicknamed F-Meister... "Hint, hint, nudge, nudge" comes automatically with it. :P

Sad fact is, life doesn't have a happy ending either.
If someone's life was kept punching them like Goblins do with their characters, I'd be surprised if they didn't jumped on one of the oblivion holes.

Or, a relevant quote from TvTropes (original site seems to be sadly dead):

"By all means, writers, let your story wander around the dank, twisty little passages. You may even permit that journey to come to a bad end. But without some light source, your story will be eaten by the Grue of Indifference."

Just binged through it last night, and finished this morning. That is some dark stuff! I disagree with people who say the thing is nothing but dark now though, Forgath still has some pretty good back and forth with Minmax and Kin, and I thoroughly enjoyed Dies Horribly's arc. Though I was somewhat confused at the end. Are the Vipers gone just like that? That seems a bit cheap. I'm also still surprised how bad I felt when Chief went to -10. I do totally agree about the fight scenes though, I had to look twice to see just what was happening in a lot of those panels, but it has gotten better.
It's not about the comic being all dark moments at all times, it's about how they seem to be unable to get a single lasting meaningful success. Any time they do seem to actually accomplish something meaningful, they'll either lose it painfully soon enough, or it'll cost far more than it was worth it, when it's not both. Any time their character develop in a positive way, or any time they start creating positive bonds with another character, it's nearly guaranteed that something will happen that will either kill one of the characters or destroy their bonds somehow. At least they will traumatize them thoroughly.

Summing it up, it's not quite that every moment is a dark moment, but simply that they seem to be doomed to failure in the worst ways, and any light of hope that appears seems to be an incoming train. It gets very hard to actually care.

Yeah, your reaction when someone get maimed shouldn't be "Again?!".
Much less "Meh". :P

Being completely honestly, while I'm not quite at the level to drop Goblins, Thunt is making harder and harder to actually care about the characters and what happens to them. Too much putting them through the grinder, any kind of apparently bright spot only existing to be squished even harder. He's essentially achieving Darkness Induced Apathy.

I'm really hoping it'll draw somewhat heavily on the Rogue Trader RPG. It really gives that feel from what I can see.

News from ireland: Cajoling vassals, giving up ducal titles, etc... made me reach 5k+ troops, making the wars much easier. I unified Ireland, bar from a single county, which belongs to Jorvik England.
Oh yeah, I didn't tell you? Jorvik became england. And later inherited northern scotland. They have 13k troops. She has 46 state intrigue and doesn't like me... AND she's not even 35 yet. Damn. I'm very afraid.

I continued marrying my fuckton of daughters to kings and whatever, often making bad decisions at that. But I married my penultimate daughter to the inheritor of the Byzantinium Empire's throne. Yay!

I have now so many prestige that only the Lotharingian Emperor is above me. The third guy is a random sultan, the fourth is... The Queen of England... And the fifth is my wife, yay.

I managed to put my daughter-in-law on the throne of Scotland, and won her a second county (yes, scotland is a clusterfuck).  However my son DIED, setting a trend of skipping generations. This time it's sad because he was sooooo promising... I do hope that my maimed old man will survive long enough for my grandson to reach adulthood. I'll try not to get this one maimed.
I must ask. Your daugthers, are you marrying them in Matrilineal Marriages or regular ones? It's very fun to get all of them in matrilineal marriages with high ranking nobles when you can, even if you end having to get them on your court first. :P

I'd say your numbers might be a bit overestimated. Consider that some people might download the file more than once due to a number of reasons, from download issues, to having more than one machine and not wanting to transfer it by usb drive/LAN, passing by deleting it by accident or even just losing the file inside some folder somewhere remote in his hard drive. :P

And again, do think really hard if trying to pull a whole moth modding DF full time will not burn you out and actually be productive. From what I understand, you do this on your free time when you want to do it. Making it a chore you have to do eight hours per day can make start disliking it, and furthermore make you be much less productive than doing it on your free time. The aftermath is something to consider, but you'll likely have a vacation from DF during your time in Africa, so unless it completely burns you out, it shouldn't be too problematic by the time you come back.

That all said, if you do believe these wouldn't be a problem, and Toady gives his "go ahead", I'll probably throw a couple bucks your way.

For the Ninja: Black47 have a point about the next DF update. Given the time it have been in development it is likely to have some major changes, so it might or might not be better to do it after the update. Nonetheless the previous paragraph's point stands.

Worldgen settings should copy over fine. However if you are getting different worlds, make sure the seeds are not set to random but to the value you had in the world you want replicated.

Even with this, because of some inherent randomness there will still be only ~90% match. Some things will still be different. It's intriging as I've seen perfect volcano next to stream embarks have the volcano slightly drift away from the water.
Nope, no seeds are random. I get consistent worlds in 4a and consistent worlds in 4b, with the exact same world gen settings (copied the text and even went in DF through all of it to confirm they were identical), but the world I get in 4a and the one I get in 4b are wildly different from one another.

177
Did you change anything that might change the worldgen? Or do tileset bring a different world gen result? I was trying to recreate a world that I had in 4a in 4b by exporting world gen info, but can't seem to get the same world.

There's two main issues I see: First, any legal issues given this is a mod. That said, that's about Toady giving or not his approval for it, so not much you can worry about.

Second, and more concerning, making working on the mod an obligation, specially with a set schedule for it, might make you burn out and start disliking it. Never underestimate how something fun can become incredibly annoying if it becomes a chore.

The "harder smelting button" should probably be readded, at least for those who disable the ore processor. Checking the raws, there still seems to be the violent reaction coming from the ores.

4b Spacefox GUI

Were changing my settings in the GUI. First thing was to change the graphics, then in order, a few ini settings (initial save, pop cap, invaders, etc), proceeded to disable the researcher in the workshops, the ore processor in the furnaces, the Secret !FUN! in the Misc Features tab, enabled Invaders Mat and Lvl boost in the same (yes, I disable the invaders previously, but that's just temporary to give me a bit more time to actually build the fortress. But I digress), but when I tried to disable Harder Mining it gave me the following error message:

"ReadFile error. Cannot find file:
MasterworkDwarfFortress\Ironhand\raw\objects\inorganic_zwarpstone.txt"

which is doubly strange because I'm not even using Ironhand.

Nevermind, already reported.
