No, no, Gunslinger is about firing accurately without aiming. It says that the GM has the right to make or not make a muscled-range weapon version of it. Might as well erase it... :(

Weapon mastery increases the unlearned, default skill level.
Hmm, I'll put it under consideration. But if you are using a single weapon type, do consider simply getting a couple extra points in skill.

Gunslinger is only for guns. Muscle powered ranged weapons are covered under weapon master. Wealth levels are buyable, yes. There should be details about it in the first chapters of the basic set characters.

Hmm... For RoF vs damage, it seems the composite bow might be the best choice. As for the skills, I guess I'd need to change Crossbow to regular Bow, eliminate Gunslinger, increase Strength by 1, and add Fast-draw(Bow).

I still do not understand why the game maker even bothered to add crossbows, when they are pretty much owned by bows :P
Fast draw (arrow). It's the same specialty. And do note that crossbows can be stronger than the user (although it does take longer to reload. But against plate, it's better to get a shot that counts instead of barely scratching him), and crossbow is a DX/easy skill, against archery's DX/Average. Basically the same reason cross bows were used in real life.

Actually Kuji, if you use paper cartridges, you can reload in 5 (4 with fast-draw). But that said, that's not a bad reload time. Only melee attack every turn, and that's not even all melee weapons, excluding ultra heavy weapons, unless the user is brutally strong.

1d6+1, specially for impaling attacks is not that bad. You might consider the same model of gun Kuji's using instead though, or if you really want a fast ranged weapon, a bow, which can fire every other turn, or throwing weaponry, which can be thrown every turn even. (all assuming no aim and the use of the fast-draw skill).

It's good to have some melee capability as well, as a backup, of course, but it's not entirely likely for someone to annihilate you guys in 4 turns. Specially if the enemies start at a distance themselves.

Bolts can be reused if not destroyed, but honestly, I'm likely to abstract ammo anyway, so don't worry about it. And even if I don't, bolt's are quite cheap.

And ok, Haika's complaining of being murdered at range, and you guys complaining about being murdered up close. :P

Edit: Oh, and don't forget the option of the classic brace of pistols.

No. It shaves one second out of 4. It makes a crossbow reload in 3 seconds instead.

With fast-draw (arrow/bolts) you can shave a second (if I remember correctly) out of the reloading time. Other than that, there aren't that many options for what you want.

TL Is Tech Level. TL 3 is medieval, TL 4 is around Renaissance/age of sail, TL 5 would be industrial Revolution.

Thr+x is damage, that is base thrust damage for the ST (in case of bows and crossbows, the ST the weapon is rated, not your own) plus x.
Weight is weight in pounds. After the slash is for the ammo, per "full magazine", or in case of normal crossbows, a single bolt.
Acc is accuracy. If you spend a turn aiming, you get that number as a bonus for your attack. If the weapon is of high quality this number might be higher by 1 or 2.
Range, in case of bows and cross bows is a multiplier that you apply to a something (I believe it's basic thrown distance, but I might be wrong right now), which is based on ST (again, the weapon's, not yours), to get final range, in yards.
RoF is rate of fire.
Shots is how many shots it can shoot before reloading. Inside the (x) is the reloading time in seconds.
ST is the minimum ST to use the weapon. This is not the same that the ST the weapon is rated at. I need to re read the specific rules though.
Bulk is basically the size of the weapon. A high bulk make it difficult to fire on the move, or to conceal the weapon.

If the crossbow is rated the same your strength, 4 seconds if I remember right. If the crossbow is stronger than you, it might take considerably more, including requiring the use of a mechanical help such as a goat foot or a cranequin.

Do note that this is TL 4. A pistol is a single shot weapon that take maybe around 10-20 seconds to reload. I'm willing to allow a "repainted" version of the repeating crossbow that the chinese had (stats on the GURPS Low Tech, if you don't have it, I can send you the needed stats), unless weird veto it because of fluff reasons. It has a "magazine" of 10 shots, and is able to shoot a shot every other turn while it has ammo, assuming you are strong enough to draw it without issue. It also isn't that powerful, strength wise, other crossbows (and fire arms) are likely to be more damaging.
