DF Suggestions / Portals could be used for backwards compatibility

It has been said that portals could create objects and beings, why not pull from the raws and create something that doesn’t exist yet? This would be cool for modders who want to put their stuff in their world with an empire at their disposal rather than having to start fresh.

Because it’s hard to notice the subtle change of color, it shouldn’t change the civ to blue and rather highlight it blue or gray.

DF Suggestions / The aging system should be rewritten

The aging system causes death by old age to happen at a constant chance at the beginning of each month(?)

It could just be a simple equation:

Chance = ( (Current age - minimum death age) / maximum age) / 4 (for each season) or 12 (for each month, I’m not sure which), but no greater than 95% per year.

Any suggestions or better equations (especially from Toady One Mc-Has-A-Ph.D-In-Math) would be wonderful

Someone said this before, but I could not find it as it was a comment and not a post.

The point that they were trying to get across was that arrow pullout effects should exist.

I think it should be defined like attacks, except of course coming in the reverse direction. This would mean that it pierced the flesh from the inside.

I was having fun in the OTA with my Phoenix, spitting two fireballs at two elves, at the same time.

I want to know if my Phoenix (which is [TRAINABLE_WAR]) can do the same as an actual creature.

This would remove the effects of the syndrome, either gradually removing them or instantly diminishing them.

Some examples:

This would mean that if you are able to milk a cave spider’s venom (via extraction), a medical dwarf (maybe a new job to administer medicine) would bring him/her the venom and ask him/her to drink it, curing the literally never-ending headache.

This means that if a creature has [HUNTS_VERMIN], but also has [GOBBLE_VERMIN_CLASS] or [GOBBLE_VERMIN_CREATURE], it should try to kill that vermin before it eats it. Also, if the creature has [RETURN_VERMIN_KILLS_TO_OWNER], it would only do so 25-50% of the time. (This could be used for cats.)

A debatable subject, that seeing your announcements isn’t really as important as countering that goblin trying to rip you apart.

It’s up for debate, and I expect not all of you agree with this.

DF Suggestions / Arenas and brawls.

An arena would be a new activity zone. It would be a place where brawls are hosted.

A visitor could challenge others in a brawl. A dwarf can choose to challenge visitors as well.

A dwarf that has free time (and likes brawling and stuff) would come to watch it on the same level or one level above (or both, if you wish to do so.)

Brawls would use the (currently unused) brawling level of conflict and the first to submit would lose. This would be the point where gambling would come in whenever it is released.

Currently, dwarves can (presumably) make a large amount of food from very small ingredients. For example, we would give strawberries [COOKUNIT:2], and it would take 2 strawberries to count as one ingredient. (It would take 4 strawberries to make Dwarven biscuits)

I intended this for very small ingredients like beans, which only four are needed to make a very large roast.
