DF Gameplay Questions / my world is gone

I started a new fortress and about 30 minutes later I had to go somewhere, so I saved it and quit, when I got back and booted up DF the world was gone, only option was "create new world" looking in my files and the region is still there, help

I've had loads of crashes when playing adventure mode, not sure of cause, last time happened when I entered a lair intending to slay a wicked hag consort
ideas on cause?

No. This isn't Minecrap. There's a selection of igneous intrusive stones, look it up on the wiki.
woah dude it was a question, for your information I haven't played minecraft in YEARS, the reason I really asked was because I found black sand earlier, which can be caused by basalt from volcanoes

I've started a new fortress and I've hit a few obsidian layers. I know you can make obsidian from magma and water but does finding layers of it premade mean there's magma under?

as the title says, on the embark screen, it would be cool if among the listed civs, one option would be "start dwarven civilization" where you would be the creator of a whole new civilization of dwarves, with the ability to choose your civ name and image. of course you would still receive migrants and trade caravans, but the migrants would be from other civs and dwarf caravans from other civs too (no outpost liaison either, have to wait for diplomat) what do you guys think?

It has come to my attention that the noble population has been making more and more impossible demands, while demands and mandates are perfectly acceptable among the nobles, the frequency of mandates and demands as well as the demands themselves have worn my patience severely, my masons, smiths and carpenters have had much of there precious time making your absurd demands. My limit, however, was reached when a "Thob Rawcrystals" baron of this fortress mandated the construction of a slade bed. this, of course is impossible. In response I have constructed multiply cages that have been scattered around the map, in the event that a similar absurd demand or mandate is made, the offender will be hauled to the nearest cage out there, walled up, and promptly forgotten has they slowly starve to death. you have been warned.

and I mean EVERYTHING, stuff like lions, alligator and giant animals I understand, but in the summer, I get bombarded with "urist mcsomething cancels haul, interrupted by buzzard or some other thing" it gets to the point where I have to lock the doors and keep them inside, the thing is, these buzzards or whatever else is interrupting my dwarves, are like 10 z layers above them flying lazily about

I cut down the tree hoping to kill him in the fall. sadly it didn't but the fall torn off his hands making him drop his crossbow...which is now mine

the only animals at the time were barn owls, and the only "remains" would a few drops of goblin blood

EDIT: after relooking, I saw there were also 4 giant flies, so that might be why. also, in the unit screen, the wagon is listed as "missing"
