DF Announcements / Re: Welcome to the New Forum

Funny that everyone was stalwartly against signature images before the move.  :D

The spoiler tag permission .
Go into Permissions for the Regular Users group; you'll need to enable spoilers to be viewed and posted. You might also want to enable Guests to view them, otherwise they won't show up for people not logged in.

"move" has been stripped out as a bb tag, though it still shows the marquee button for me for some reason.

The button's not showing up for me, so that seems to be fine.

I'm not sure how to do the logo link (or anything related to themes), but it's likely possible.  I don't know how to make themes myself, and there doesn't seem to be an easy editor as with UBB, at least in the admin panel.  I'd prefer not to use DF everywhere on the forums, though the default theme does hurt my eyes a bit so I understand why people would suggest that.  If you are logged in, you can make it appear everywhere from your profile.
The logo as a link is possible as either a mod or as part of a theme. I'll e-mail you with some further information on modifying/creating themes.

Is there a way to see all of the previous posts when you are posting without opening another window?  I can only see 10 or so, with no paging option.  Responding to future of the fortress or a sudden active bug report/suggestion will be quite aggravating this way, since I'll often need to have 2 or 3 pages available.
I might be able to make a mod to help with that.

My position is administrator, but it handles the post-based groups differently.  Even after checking the option not to show post-based groups like Bay Watcher for admins/mods, it doesn't work.
Hmm, I have no idea why that might not be working; I've had no problems disabling that. Did you change that option for the Darkling theme, or just the Default theme? The option is stored separately for each theme.
"

EDIT: by the way, people wanting monospaced text without using a Code box (such as for a signature) can instead use Teletype. The button for it looks like a typewriter, and the actual BBCode is "tt". An example:
gBg
B@g
gBB       Beak dogs and goblins surround the adventurer!  What will happen next?!

Code: [Select]
[tt]gBg
B@g
gBB       Beak dogs and goblins surround the adventurer!  What will happen next?![/tt]

I hope it's configurable.
It is. Look in your Profile under "Look and Layout"
There's the option:
"Return to topics after posting by default."

Edit:
Looks like even with the option it doesn't take you back to the thread.
It always has for me. (EDIT: including this time)
It also shows up under "Additional Options..." just under the posting window.

After I posted a new topic I was thrown to the general discussion (main forum) instead of last post of the thread. However after modifying it returns you to your post.
Can you please configure this to return you to your posted message instead of throwing you in the main forum?
You can set it in your profile here:

Yeah, displayed name and login name had to be squashed together during the move.

And there's this sort of thing:  http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=14904.0

I have no idea what's going on in there, but it gets squashed when you scroll down.
Looks like some HTML in Kagus' signature is causing it.

Seems like everything made it in decent shape.

Best place to look would be here on the wiki: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/List_of_user_character_sets

There are a few with wider text characters used.

There's a 1440x450 character set here: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/List_of_user_character_sets#Square_tilesets

If you're wanting to use a graphics set, you'll probably want to instead stick to a 1280x400 character set since there aren't any larger graphics sets available. http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/List_of_user_graphics_sets

There's not that much difference between 1440 and 1280, so it should be no big loss.

There is of course an alternative to Rapidshare and Megaupload available... http://dffd.wimbli.com/about.php

I'm bumping this thread as a reminder that the site is available as an alternative to Rapidshare, Megaupload, and other such annoying sites which make you jump through hoops and which will eventually delete your files.

I just noticed several recently released mods being hosted on Rapidshare (bleh), so I wanted to be sure that everyone knows about the DFFD site. All DF related files are welcome.

For those of you who don't visit the general discussion board very often, I figured I'd post here to make sure everyone knows about it as a place where DF files can be hosted. The thread with details is over here:

What problem are you having? I haven't seen any downtime with it so far myself, but if there's something I can address (a specific error for instance), I can see about fixing it.
So as not to clutter your mod thread up, feel free to send me a PM about it instead if you like.

What problem are you having? Also, what browser are you using?

Feel free to use the contact form on the site, as this is a bit off-topic from discussion of your mod.

Create a new text file in the same folder as reveal.exe and paste that text in it. Name this file "memory.ini". That's it.

Somebody already posted the memory.ini for Reveal.exe. http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/User_talk:Rick#0.27.176.38c
