That pretty much nails it right there.

However. now I miss things like Regional Prospector and heal.exe  :(

An easy way:

go to DFFD and download the latest windows release with Guybrush's set already installed.

Once that's download, paste in the latest Mac Executable file in the same directory.

There you go, configured and ready to go   :)

EDIT: err, i have no idea how this became its own thread, it was in reference to  an earlier one requesting mac help with adding tilesets.

Heh, this might be an interesting fortress to have in that 3d renderer.

With that, though, I'm worried about the magma running out.. and.. and.. I've put enough effort into it now, that I'll go down in flames, (or dehydration) at this point before I give up my mountaintop..

Meh, This was more of a 'What to do when screwed' test.

See how long I can last selling stone mugs/jewellery/toys/crafts for food and water..
Not to mention that I REALLY REALLY want to place my depot on a bridge and have it plummet alll the way down the cliff side.

Mmm Elf Chunks.

I've actually modified what I was thinking of doing.

Once again side view.

code:

xMMxxRRRxxx
xxMMMxRxxxx
xxxxxxRxxxx
RRRRRRRxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx

Using the magma to heat the River, and then have it drain below, into a tunnel, to somewhere slightly closer.

I'll be boned if my dwarves get hurt until this tunnel is built. I AM working on a sheer cliff face... Hmm.

Bungee Dwarves?

I havent dug that far yet. I've brought a rather large load of drinks and food, (200 of each, as well as 200 Plump Helmet Seeds). So I'm good for a while, just liquid water would be helpful. (the river is a long, long, long, way from where I am.

code:

xxxxxxxxR
xxx------R
xxx|xxxxxx
xxx|xxxxxx
xXX|XXXxxx
XXX|XXXFxx
XXXLXXXXxx
l- lava, F- Fort, X- My landing, x-land Waaaay below(11 levels), - and |, the channel I have to dig

It's a 5x5 starting area, the river is in the far corner from the lava. just to make me cry.
So far so good.

I was just curious. was thinking of making a window with a view of steaming hot lava.. for sh*ts and giggles, a good way to light the grand hall.

I really like this starting place. I'm painstakingly smoothing/engraving all 11 z-levels of cliffside. BECAUSE I CAN.

Edits: I've even put the trade depot on an overhang, beside where the lava river flows over the cliff. Very imposing, hopefully the elves wont mind that I (accidentally  ;) ) burnt down the only, teeny, tiny, patch of trees. (there were two, and a few shrubs.

So, iirc, if I get the water underground, it'll stay thawed? I don't remember :P I've not been on a cold climate in.. well a long time.

I thought about using the magma, I'm just afraid it'll gum up, and do something bad to my poor.. poor dwarves.

Second question:

code:

~~~~~~~~~
XXXXXXXX~
XXXXXXXX~
........~
XXXXXXXX~
XXXXXXXX~
Assuming ~ was lava, and X rock. and the . a tunnel (this is side view), would the lava flow into the tunnel?
Like a tunnel under a waterfall?
So, I'm at the cold end of nowhere. I've got a nice magma vent, a frozen river, not a tree in sight (Sure Elfies, I'll not cut down the trees here!  ;) )
So, I have an.. issue, I'd like to thaw out the river, at least in part, and I'm not sure how to do it,
I thought about pouring lava from the vent over the cliff. (Did i mention the river is 11 Z levels below my fortress, which is on a mountain peak of sorts. It's a sheer cliff down. The magma vent is about.. 20 squares from where the wagon started. so it's nicely located.
Any ideas?
Try making them bedrooms closer to the digging area. Dwarves hate commuting.
