5e is the 2e AD&D of the Wizards era.  TSR/Wizards, spooked by moms'/grogs' reaction to AD&D/4e, produce a bland, sterilized version that nobody could possibly hate because it doesn't have the balls to do anything someone might hate.

I like 5e, but only because there's nothing notable about it.  My biggest complaint is that it goes too far into GM fiat.  I have lots of story-driven rules-lite games I can play, Wizards.  I play D&D for crunchy grid-map combat.

Yes, everyone slips up and has the "wrong" opinion once in a while.

 ::)

I also had a little wew lad moment there.

SJW is a great word to taboo, since everyone defines it differently.  It's also got motte and bailey built in since any discussion of it can freely be redirected to "you think the world shouldn't be just?" But that's what happens when you argue over ill-defined and nebulous terms.

I had a post on /r/latestagecapitalism removed because I referred to the Earth as "dumb"

The only one I can actually think of is Abysia.  All the perennial blood nations put it aside for MA, like Mictlan and Ashdod.  Ashdod still has some of the blood summons like se'irim but I don't think they naturally get blood mages anymore to summon them.  They also lose the Watchers which sucks.

I dunno if MA is the best age for going full blood.  LA has a ton of blood nations and EA has some standouts.

Stranger's Wrath crashes if you unfocus the window, which is pretty damning at least for me.

Holy shit, that's a lot of patch notes. I like how co-op doors are referred to as friendship doors among other little touches- sure seems like DE is listening to its community.

The community can be -super- bitchy about things though, particularly its subreddit. I'unno. Curious thing to balance, innit?

Admittedly, though there's a few quests, raids, mastery, etc still to do, I feel like I've done most of the game. Much as I want to come back, I don't know that I have a reason to. Unless I play an alt account to unlock everything again, I dunno. Not sure if that's fun. Is that fun?

The new quest is very short and literally a filthy frank video.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And that's basically all the new content.

Nothing bad's going to happen if they live that long, but they probably won't.

My problem is less losing guys and more the process to get there doesn't feel meaningful.  Battles are just everybody lines up and takes turns rolling dice until one team falls apart, and fatigue especially grinds the battle into exchanging single weak strikes after a few rounds.  It doesn't feel like there's really any strategy to this.

Is it bad that I find this game more frustrating and random than darkest dungeon?  Darkest Dungeon at least feels like there's some kind of reliable strategy to winning.  HEre I give my guys shield and put up shield wall (for the two turns they can maintain it, maybe) and they still eat every single fucking swing right to the face.

I haven't tried using that many archers, I've got two. W ell one now.  I gave my high initiative high dodge archer a two-hander to see how he'd do and he exploded the instant someone looked at him, same as always.  Probably gonna reload or even start a new game, I'm just spinning my wheels at this point.  Renown too high for my team, losing everything we gain as soon as we get it.

Do people generally think it's better to go for numbers first or power/  Should I be settling on seven or eight stronk dudes early or going for the full roster?  I feel like my fortunes starting to turn for the worse after I hit my 12-guy  milestone.

There is no before they have a chance for me.  They die so fucking fast to anything that looks at them.

Maybe I'm just horrible at the game.  It feels like, especially against human enemies with shields, the game boils down to both teams lining up and rolling dice until one collapses, and fatigue values are so low even on high level characters that shield wall only works for a couple turns.

Trying the game some more now that it's finished.

Has anybody gotten two-handers to work?  I've put them on hills, given them the best armor I have, no matter what I do not having a shield in this game is just inviting death every turn he's within two hexes of an enemy.

For four bucks I'd get it if we can find some people.  Might be able to rope my friend in too.

Can we talk about Xenonauts here?  The game sells itself on the improved air combat but god damn these pipe fitters are getting on my nerves.  The way they approach targets is so inefficient I probably lose half the UFOs I go after if I don't babysit them every step of the way.

Saw this during the summer sale. Definitely caught my interest because I love gladiator games. But I didn't pull the trigger. Does it have legs? I understand it's all made by one guy. But I kinda want something to sink my teeth into, not something that will be done in 9 to 10 hours.

The full game can be played through in like two hours tops.

I got back into this.  Currently have Volt, Rhino, Frost, and Mesa, and only frost still ranking up.  Mesa is fucking crazy, with power efficiency and good pistol mods her 4 just deletes crowds and big guys alike.  Killed hyena pack in two seconds, almost strong enough to one-shot sentients.

I think the lore is pretty neat but the gameplay is just so at odds with it.  They went too over the top with warframe powers, it's a little silly to hear the Lotus telling you to watch out for increased patrols cause you're in a high-security facility while your squad is blitzing through at 50 miles an hour obliterating dozens of corpus a second.
