But what?! What is it you can't do? I've given this guy nearly all of my goods, several hundred units of stuff accidentally given for free because I was frustrated and pushed the wrong button, and this guy will not trade. Is there something I'm not getting about trading? I'd like to have enough food to not die in the winter.

What does the Degrinchinator do? And honestly, the best trap I've ever seen was the **** the World device in Boatmurdered, I lol'd so hard when he wiped out the traders.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / (22f) Viewing engravings in Fortress Mode?

Sorry for the old version, it's easier, and I'm using it to learn the basics before I move on to 3d. I was wondering, how do you view engravings? I remember using K in the 3d version, but that doesn't work here. 22f is the Boatmurdered Version, and they viewed engravings all the time. Is there a different button I need to press, or is there something wrong specifically with the file I recieved, that is identical to every other 22f file in existence?

I'd always load a caravan up with the kids I hated and ford the first river. I've learned now that's an unhealthy way to deal with my problems.

I do plan on eventually migrating to 3d, probably after my second or third fortress in 2d. The problem with 3d is there's so much I get intimidated, I think 3d can ease me in so I'll be ready for the masses of buttons. And on elephants, I've already got a trapper comatose, I'm wondering if she'll ever come out.

Well, I'm trying 2d now, same version used to do Boatmurdered, and honestly I like it better, it feels cleaner. Part of the reason I didn't like 3d is there were SO MANY ROCKS. I'm a very neat person and can't stand clutter. It seems like there are less rocks in this version. There also seems to be less functions and buttons than before, which makes it less intimidating.
Plus, I can see the elephants, no more than fifty feet away, watching the interlopers with all the xenophobic hatred of a thousand drunk Texans.

I'm aware of the threat posed by carp, but it seems like in the time I've spent playing DF, I've seen like 2% of the game. I didn't know till last week that there were harpies and werewolves.

I'm relatively new at Dwarf Mode, but obsessively play Adventure Mode. This new version takes away my mercenary buddies, so I was thinking about trying Dwarf Mode while I wait for them to come back. I read Boatmurdered, and thought it was great, and it made me lose some faith that 3d was that great, so my question is, should I play the 2d version or the 3d version? What are the pros and cons of each?
