It turns out the bunches of leaves you ate contain coca. You are now energized, like ten cups of coffee, and feel a slight compulsion to eat more leaves.

Mullah Serne
I try to sneak around the pilgrim-accosting bandit scum, giving them a wide berth and continuing onwards until the pillars of campfire smoke in the evening sky are far behind me.

The demon recoils in surprise, having expected terrified prey and at least a little courtesy. You shred a dozen masks, running your axe down its fleeing body before it dives out of range. It's mad now, white ichor leaks down a dozen cuts along its masks, and pulls a giant rust-red axe out of the ground, somehow.

Mullah Serne

The sky is darkening as I see lights in the distance, camped along the road. Likely bandits preying on pilgrims. I draw a sword and decide to take a detour into the woods.

Kas'san
A race of shy, free-spirited bird people, averaging about 4-feet tall. They are of middling age on a galactic scale. They dislike having their personal space violated and are generally not quite prone to meeting new people. They are not very innovative, owing to their exceptional physical abilities, especially flight, and for this have advanced slowly.
They have many tiny, independent colony worlds, most of a few million Kas'san. The exception is their homeworld, which has a higher than average population, due to many being shy of stepping into the great unknown.
Traders are renowned in their culture for "overcoming" their shyness, and for supplying the overstretched species. They still land in designated zones to avoid unnecessary contact, though, and their lack of innovation has paradoxically resulted in large, permanent and crowded trade lanes across space that are easy, predictable prey to pirates.
