This is the Curses Of Balin tileset; my personal tileset.

This tileset is also included in Samba Launcher Starter Pack project for windows

The Curses Of Balin tileset is made in 16x16 pixels per tile square over the original 'curses_square_16x16.bmp' what came with the game. That can be noted when look on the older versions listed here, below.

COB art is basically made entirely from scratch, but has inspirations in MayDay's tileset and Spacefox, what i used to use -- also, for a short period I've used the tracks that both of them has; now COB has his own tracks. And I've played a lot with Wanderlust, from where I got the idea for gradient fonts. I love the style of the Wanderlust.

The goals of this tileset is to became prettier at my eyes, making me feel more pleasure playing the game. Yet, I do not intend to make graphics for everything else, instead I prefer to maintain it simple, but beautiful. With time, i can change my mind -- at the beginning I did not intend to make graphics for dwarfs.

Despite how I have released the old and the latest tileset/graphics below,
here I'll post only a graphic or tileset image file containing my latest "strange mood" creations.
Use at your own risk.

For me, the current version is "X9.8.9K.i".

Note: I tell you... i like the rivers in the map screen... I need to get a way to put it back.
Note: it is hard to make some original walls... seriously...
Note: I really liked that necromancer's towers.
Note: The old - fattest - dwarfs looks better (?)... but they're so fat! - (or so bearded?) - And they're no give space to delineations. The delineations are useful for a best contrast on tileset.
Note: I advise to NOT use this tileset mixed with another one what have some changes in the "raw txt's", if you don't know how to avoid the erroneous placed tiles, caused by the mix. This can be ugly.

=How to change the tiles=

This little text is just for a few instructions, avoiding mistakes and problems to start the game.

I use BMP image files for old versions of linux, so probably all will be fine.

# THE INSTRUCTIONS [to change to the Curses of Balin tilesets] #

0 - I recomend create or download a fresh copy of Dwarf Fortress, all clean.

1 - Delete the /raw folder. Do not delet your /data folder.

2 - Drop the 'Curses of Balin' folders in your Dwarf Fortress gamefolder and override the asked files.

3 - If you want to use your current savegame, just enter on your savegame folder, delete the current 'raw' inside of it, and copy the Curses of Balin 'raw' into it.

3.1 - Before you try to update your savegame to CoB tilesets, do a copy for safety. I already tested some savegames generated using other graphic sets and their owners/creators has change things on the raw folders that i do not have knowledge yet, what can impede the game to start and maybe mess your savegame.

*OBS: inside the /data/art folder has my ASCII font, for who want to play with TWBT.

# Step by step, how to change to any tileset #
00 - go to folder in DF gamefolder \data\art and put in it the file of tileset what you desire to use.
01 - go to folder in DF gamefolder \data\init and open the init.txt file.
02 - In the text file, go to the lines called FONT, FULLFONT, GRAPHICS FONT and GRAPHICS FULLFONT.
03 - In these lines, change the names after " : " to the name of PNG or BMP file what you desire to use - including the extension ".PNG" or ".BMP" if is it.
04 - This is it! It's done!

... i guess...
05 - I advise to NOT use my tileset mixed with another one what have some changes in the "raw txt's", if you don't know how to avoid the erroneous placed tiles, caused by the mix. This can be ugly.

- I've added the tracks. I can't make it in the way i have planned.. I took from an Spacefox tileset. I will talk with the owner soon; and i will change it for an original tile. ...
- I've changed the lines of tracks to be showed properly, but i dont have acess to the Depot yet... You player, change yourself for now in gamefolder => \data\int\d_init.txt

- I've changed a lot of things in these 'walls' until finally make them looks better. But the work is not finished... The textures is not originals from me.
- I've made an acceptable 'fortifications' tileset.
- I've made an acceptable 'wall grate' tileset.
And... i, idiot, only now have seen the details in lines and columns itens of tilesets on the dwarffortresswiki. Now i can make the tilesets more flexible. If my backs permit...

- A lot lot lot of things what i have changed.
- I've customized the 'I' letter to him looks like necromancer's towers
- I've customized the 'Y', to the 'Yeti' letter be showed more terrifyly.
- I've added a demon's tile.
- I've added tiles for deities and angels overwriting the 'Ä' character.
- I've added some acceptable tiles for temples in the map, rings, amulets, caldrons, unmined ores, dimple cups, the Valley herb, aaaannnd... goblin settlements in the map.
- I've put smalls symbols on the right top of some tilesets, to specify the original ones ( . , ' `). They are hidden

And... damn... i forgot to change/fix the tile of wall grate.

- I've modified the tiles of dwarfs, gods, bogeyman, Ñ's, doors, some trees, armor stands, musical instruments, trap components and other somethings. Annnnnd..... I have changed the walls. This one, i did it by myself
