Other Games / Re: Slay the Spire - Deck-building to Death or Glory
« on: January 20, 2020, 01:58:31 pm »
I just did a Mantra/Calm deck and at no ascension it was plainly put broken. My main mantra generators were initially a "pray" and a "worship", but I gradually phased worship out when I got a "prostrate" and that power that gives 2 mantra/ turn. For tankiness I relied on two copies of the power that gives block when in calm plus the starter block+calm card. For damage dealing I used two copies of the Battle hymn power (each giving a retaining damage dealing card/turn).

The whole concept was quite simple. Put down those battle hymns, gather mantra, ues scry to manipulate the draws, unload any damage card when in divinity and try to end your turn in calm. To top it off by act 2 I had also become a vampire so keeping my hp high was quite trivial.

Version 2.0 hit GOG's deck yesterday and I took it out for a test drive. Right off the bat:
  • They didn't have a patch installer so I had to reinstall the whole game (did a new install to avoid losing my progress on the previous version)
  • Ballance on the Ironclad and the Silent seems a bit off, I haven't gone up the ascensions yet but on the 0-lvl they feel too OP
  • On my silent run I had the luck to use a potion based deck that is rather new to me. It relied on the sacred bark (x2 on potion effects), toy ornithocopter (heal 5hp when using a potion) and alchemize and was complemented with noxious fumes (x2), footwork, smooth stone, shuriken, pen nib for damage and tanking. On the last boss (donu and deca) I used the new ritual potion (+ strength every turn) and I found myself throwing 25/50 dmg shivs  :D
  • I'm not sure how I feel about the watcher yet. I like the concepts behind her mechanics but I haven't gotten the hang of them yet to see what works and what doesn't.

Edit: Also, Slay the Spire is half off at GoG. It's worth the full price, so do the thing. It's a deck-building RPG.

StS is an excellent game indeed and well worth the full price! Also as of yesterday GOG has updated to StS 2.0 which is rather quick considering that the previous updates came quite some time after the steam version.

It's good to hear that you are back in action Nenjin. NRDL and notquitethere, I hope you reach and exceed your goals this year  :)

On my part, after a disastrous (both exercise and nutrition wise) autumn and a slightly better December where I somehow managed to cram in a few good workouts despite the increased workload, I'm finally doing well on keeping a somewhat consistent workout schedule.

Nutrition is a whole other issue though. I've managed to shed the kilos I got during autumn but my fat percentage is higher than what I want and I'm really struggling to adapt to a deficit diet once again.

They killed my dog! Those fuckers got the jump on us and at some point I must have passed out..next thing I know I wake up in the same place, blood, dried and wet, covers my entire body. I look around and see a lump of blood, bones and fur just a few meters from me. My dog, gods what have they done to you! They killed my dog! They killed her and then they butchered her!

I already use LibreCalc but thanks for the suggestion :)

Thing is it's quite clunkier than excel so while it does get the job done it's not ideal. Most importantly I 'm not the only user of that pc and the other one hates Calc with a passion.

Just like when they haul anything it's also about strength ;)

As long as they keep training all dwarves can eventually get strong enough to move normally in full armor.

Ms Excel: Crashes immediately as soon as I try to open any workbook.
Ms Office diagnostics: nO pRoBlEm DeTeCtEd

Well fuck you too Microsoft >:(

Anyway, what I know is that according to the error report, that someone had the bright idea to hide in the deepest pit of hell (event viewer) because fuck you end user for using our shit, there is some fault with "MSO.dll". Looking it up on the net didn't brought any solution yet despite people reporting similar errors with the same dll over the years.

Stuff the I tried:

Deleting that dll and downloading/creating a new one (it does one of the two automatically on starting the program if it didn't find it) did nothing. Excel still crashes.

Running excel in safe mode and disabling all add ins (basically just the solver) did not fix it. Even without the add ins it still crashes as soon as it starts.

Any ideas?

edit: Turns out that for some reason I can't disable the add ins. I 've tried to do it through safe mode (with and without admin rights) but it doesn't seem to register the change. Running it again in normal mode still crashes and running it in safe mode shows that Solver is still enabled.

edit2: Problem has been solved for now. Removing the old installation and installing it again has fixed it. I think that the whole problem was caused by the solver add in but I can't be sure. I guess I'll stick with Libre for when I need it since it has the solver function natively.

I binged the new Dracula mini series (on netflix) last night. It's just 3 episodes with a runtime of ~1,5-2 hours each and honestly I would really like to recommend it but I just can't. The acting is a bit hit or miss, even by the very same actor/actress in some cases, and it seems like the creators/producers/writers just didn't know what they wanted to do with the show somehow. There are some interesting ideas here and there but ultimately they don't matter because they are mostly left unexplored.

You can buy almost any type of house you can build, and every one of them except the small shack can fit a lv2 research station.

I'm not sure about that, I remember that I couldn't fit a lvl2 research bench in the Longhouse I had bought in Squin.

Nah Shek cities just have small buildings for sale, other towns like World's End, Hub etc also have larger buildings that can be fitted with higher level bences. Now being completely self sufficient is another story especialy before you research hydroponics.
