Huh? I'm still up.

BenLubar said his crashed because DF ran out of memory after being running 24 hours straight, so he restarted.

Urirst McBenLubar has created an AI. The dwarves are self-aware. The dwarves are screaming.

I was on reddit today and read that someone programmed an AI that can play DF utilizing DF Hack, so now I started streaming it :D

Info: DF-AI, written by BenLubar, is a plugin for DFHack. This plugin is an Artificial Intelligence capable of playing Dwarf Fortress Fort mode by itself without any help. You can find some video of the AI playing without graphics sets in ASCII here: http://www.twitch.tv/benlubar, the source code is here: https://github.com/BenLubar/df-ai

Chrysalids are the speed of like, two stun lancers put together.
...Also vulnerable to sniper shots since they rush out of cover to hit you.
Yeah, as I recall on Commander a sniper shot from Plasma lance will 1 shot them from overwatch. So you send a rookie or phantom ranger/armored dude to scout and a team of 2-3 snipers spamming Overwatch/killzone makes the groups of them die as soon as they appear.

meh, they're not often lined up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYkqXmcCHHQ is when killzone spawns on a Grenadier with the AWC.

This kind of stuff happens all the time, takes no effort. You set up killzone (It's a big ass cone compared to the null lance line and gets more range) and everything in that zone dies until you run out of ammo. Not to mention you don't get as heavy crits with that psi trooper. (Not sure if I ever saw null lance crit)

Psi trooper is good, but that's because they get domination/mind control along with lance, whereas snipers just put out constant everything's dead damage. And as long as you have high enough aim and a clear line of sight, it can literally be from across the map without putting anyone at risk.

edit: forgot name of null lance.

Breezing through Commander once I got the setup, actually been sitting on the last mission farming instead. Next is Legendary/Ironman.

It was actually hardest in the beginning of the run before I had snipers set up.

His kills aren't that high because I have about 5 other snipers set up the same way, and my grenadiers are also pretty awesome.

Even without upgrades, killzone snipers get three free shots in a game where getting two moves in a row is broken. They work extremely well coupled with grenadiers because snipers counter is cover, and explosives allow snipers easy access to people's heads as well as shredding armor.

Speaking of which, I haven't used any snipers since the very early game. The actual sniping feels underwhelming and the pistoleering is basically the same as grenade spam except it isn't paired with high-damage armor shred on the primary and can't have esoteric effects.
...Serial (you keep sniping as long as you get final killing blow) or Killzone + overwatch/squadsight (shoot anyone who moves within cone next enemy turn) with upgraded clipsize can be 6 dead guys in your turn or their turn. It's broken as fuck and the only reason I'm surviving along with grenadier spam. Add in a scope and they pretty much carry you all game. It's nearly almost as good as lolsquadsight from XCOM1.

Since each sniper is a force multiplier that can take out multiple contacts per turn I just have 2-3 snipers, 1-2 grenadiers and a specialist healer in my squad or lose one grenadier for a psi trooper, which is also really good.

Someone should make a squad that consists of lookalikes from the current Republican and Democratic primaries.
Already on the Xcom subreddit.

Honestly I don't see how you can win on Legendary or Commander without abusing multi-attacks. You almost NEED killzone for some of these missions, you NEED to spam nades/flashbangs/smokenades. It's pretty much non-viable to play hard difficulties without utilizing a lot of AOE or multi attacks (also ranger, psi trooper inspire).

meh, upgraded plasma grenades on grenadiers with the Demoman upgrade that adds +damage and radius.

you can kiss an entire town goodbye when each Heavy carries 3 nades and an upgraded plasma bomb launcher. Very satisfying to blow cover and entire buildings to hell.

ADVENT scurry to cover when discovered? What cover?

PS: Also if your snipers are still bad you can cheese turrets by knocking out the floor under them which insta-kills the turret.

Just had another impossible mission lol

Get dropped down. 8 turns to get to intel across the map. First move immediately breaks concealment because we're surrounded. Get shot up on 3 sides INCLUDING 4 turrets, 2 snakes, a bunch of ADVENT, and a codex teleporting around that used the ammo draining psyonic power on 3 of my guys. Also there was an ADVENT infantry drop mid battle.

Managed to survive and forced to EVAC with no chance to get to the objective in time. I got out with 5 wounded, 3 gravely, no losses.

Sometimes the RNG just screws you long and hard.
