DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Underground Roads

I found a tunnel leading off from the base of a dwarf fort in adventure mode- very straight, about 6 tiles wide. I thought- ooh! An underground road! ...and followed it.

It was very, very long. I ate/drank through all of my rations. I finally gave in when I was dehydrated and near death, and the road crossed a chasm (by means of 2 enourmous bridges). Not wanting my corpse to litter such a lovely pathway I threw myself in.

Has anyone else come across one of these? Do they actually lead anywhere? And, with the absence of fast travel underground, is it possible to follow one without dying?

I'm assuming it was a road, of course- not paved, but very straight and wide- always wide enough for a caravan- with ramps to go up/down levels.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Fisherdwarfs wont

They started off fishing fine, then stopped. I created some new lakes for them (flooding existing murky pools) and they pull some turtles out occasionally, but I've had none of them catch any fish for a year or so. Has the map just run out? I did have a fishing zone for a while, but I've turned off zone-only fishing. Now when I try to create a fishing zone it always says "Fishing: (0)".

They keep complaining to my Mayor, begging for jobs. I used to have 2 full time fish cleaners too, who are now jobless entirely.

A hatch on top of a staircase also flashes (unless I'm doing something wrong!). Far better to build a roof, have a little gatehouse.

The great thing about this is that any dwarf can remove construction, not just your miners. Watching a squad of children take out a wall in double time is fun!

Try a long corridor with a door at each end. Unlock one door and your swimmer will move towards it- then when he's almost there, lock that door and unlock the door at the otehr end. Repeat until bored.

I discovered this while toying with drowning Tax Collectors  :)

This happened to me too, in [33g]. Merchants came, he "conducted meeting" but then ignored them, no trade negotiation screen popped up. I murdered the trade delegate  (whose bodyguards then left) but the mayor is still stuck in an endless "conduct meeting". I really dont want to murder him either, he's legendary in so many things  :(
