Even though you don't think he's scummy, you voted him to tie the vote count?  That's not a town friendly move.  If you don't think he's scum, why aren't you moving on to the next target?

I said it was obviously scummy. Don't you find Vector's random character assassination and attempt to start a bandwagon scummy?

I'll vote to even the scores a little, although if you were actually scum you'd probably be less obvious about it.

It damn sure sounds like you're saying he's not scum there.  So he's nonscum obvscum?  I don't understand your point here.

Vector:  D'oh, my bad.  I knew that, I just forgot.

Of all the roles, I think the Doctor is probably most influencial to the game's outcome. Cop seems like it wouldn't be much use to the Town side, outside of affecting the judgement of the Townie that gets it. Roleblocker and Godfather seem very niche.

I see.

Vector; So, you managed to get 'bad learner', 'inactive', 'will need replacing', 'arrogant', 'naive' and 'refuses advice' from Magwebster's two short posts? And then you bandwagoned him..?

I'll vote to even the scores a little, although if you were actually scum you'd probably be less obvious about it.

Vector:  Bandages asked who you would off as mafia, but the way you described everyone, it seemed to be more like you were listing dangers to the town.  Which is it?

shibdib:  Editing posts is against the rules.

Jokerman:  There's no fallacy- you are being unhelpful.  I'm questioning your actions, not your words.   Web's planning, poking, prodding- you're waffling over options without proposing any sort of solution.  Go question people and try to make them squirm if you've got nothing else.

Just like Double A should be doing if he's got nothing.

Janus:
I comment on anything I see that looks even a little suspicious.  Thus my tendency towards walls of text.  In this case, it's a weak attack because it's weak evidence.

I have seen the behavior I described in games before--heck, I've used it myself a few times--but I'm leaning against it being the case this time.

If it was truly an attack, why didn't you question him on it, or if it's so weak you think it's not meaningful, why mention it?

Org: If A posts an attack on B, and C starts attacking A over A's attack on B, then C is chainsaw defending B.  It's a scumtell on C.  If B turns out town, then it's a null tell.

Also, weren't you supposed to be doing some scum hunting?

IronyOwl:  Fair enough, but I'm curious about one thing (and this is not directed at Org, but is rhetorical).  What the heck kind of role defines your strategy in such a way as giving out your strategy would reveal your role?  I think we know generally enough about the roles in this game to show that there aren't any like that.  Maybe in a Ridiculous Mafia or something, but not here.  Regardless of your role, your prime directive is to hunt scum.

Rube, putting your name in red makes me think of LCS.  Have you played it?  Also, of the four possible non-vanilla roles in this game, which do you think is most important to its respective side?

Jokerman:  You're doing a great job of lurking, with your two whole posts.  You said we should try something else, and said you didn't like a no lynch, but you didn't suggest any alternatives.  Why don't you actually contribute instead of standing in the background?

Holy Hell, Toaster, how hard can it be? I don't like a no-lynch, therefore my suggestion is...LYNCH DURP DURP. I didn't realize I needed to spell that out for you. Were you expecting me to suggest a half-lynch?

*sigh*

Yes, duh, lynch, but lynch WHOM?  I don't see you offering suggestions, or even trying to find out someone scummy to string up.  All I see is you watching the action.

Lonewolf:  *sigh*

Web:  I agree that one day's worth of inspections is pretty much useless.  As far as using our inspect as a pseduo-lynch, remember that doesn't help us figure out who the poisoner is, which could be a lylo issue.  Right now, if we go after anyone, I'd say Jokerman unless he actually does something helpful.  I'm keeping my vote on no-lynch for the time being until I decide which is best, but I'm leaning on NL due to it being a 10p game, despite the poisoner.

Cript:  Who would you lynch for maximum information?  Who would you lynch for maximum scumminess?

Maybe the choice quotes of the event, though, came when Kotick talked about Activision’s developers; you know, the guys who actually make the stuff he gets so rich from. You’d think he’d have a bit of respect for them, right? Oh no, Kotick’s goal over the past 10 years has been – you couldn’t make this up – “to take all the fun out of making video games.” How? By instilling a culture of “scepticism, pessimism, and fear” amongst the company’s staff based around the economic depression and an incentive program that rewards “profit and nothing else”.

Does anyone have this quote in context?
I remember reading it, back when it was plastered everywhere. It didn't sound any better in context, which was, if memory serves, something along the lines of "when I came here, everyone was great at making games, but all those programmers and artists didn't know shit about accounting and management. I'm proud to have taken all the fun out of making games". The sentiment is both sadistic and nonsensical (complaining that people whose jobs are not accounting or management don't know how to be accountants or managers, but are otherwise quite skilled at the job they fucking have), bordering on Stupid Evil.

Why was I included there? I mildly agreed that heusoo should stop starting threads like this, but if anything that quote only serves to emphasize my argument against Kotick by contrasting with his methods ("lowest quality, highest prices").

I was wondering if it sounded any better in context, because that was heavily outside it.  Oh well.

And I wasn't clear- I was agreeing with you, and thought you might like to see that quote because it did support your point.

You drop it in a shop.  However, the Terinyo shop is a food shop, and only buys and sells food.  The black market in Lawiethwhatever will buy anything, but at very cut rate prices.  There are two guaranteed general stores in the game (one you can't miss) that will buy anything at decent prices.

I think the setup would work better if the larger game concept was fleshed out first.  Two sets of SPIN cops, two scum, and one third party, maybe something simple like a antimiller survivor.  Test the balance of that before adding in the crazies.  This setup definitely needs more town.

Anyway, game!  Let's hunt some scum bums!  We all need to work together if we're going to root out the scum.

Jokerman:  You're doing a great job of lurking, with your two whole posts.  You said we should try something else, and said you didn't like a no lynch, but you didn't suggest any alternatives.  Why don't you actually contribute instead of standing in the background?

Webadict:  Obviously, if someone is scummy, we should lynch them.  What would you do if no one person stood out?  Would you find someone anyway, lynch someone with many results to gather maximum information on sanity, or go with the no lynch?

(Personally, I'd lean toward a no lynch at this point if no one stood out as scummy.)

Double A:  You didn't answer my question.

Double A, what do you think the best plan for scanning is?

You're posting, but without content.

Lonewolf:
Last four posts ->  Webadict shows us how it's done.

Buddying much?

RedWarrior:  Could you clarify the exact effects of being stoned?

Janus:  Fair enough WRT lurking.  However...

And I don't think it's necessarily the case in this game because it's a closed setup, but IMO most of the time if someone asks a question about a scum role (especially if not directed at the mod), than they're usually trying to hide something.

You tried to cover it, but there's still a weak attack there.  Not enough to get a response out of him, but enough so you can cast doubt on Jokerman.  Either attack hard or not at all- don't just try to sow doubt on others.

Org:  You're acting strange, even for Org.  We don't care about your role right now, so just help us find scum.

Solifuge:  You hate RVS.  That's great.  Quit sidelining and play the game.

Eduren:  Do you have something meaningful for us yet?

IronyOwl:  There's scumhunting, and then there's looking around to see who's an easy lynch.  You sure look like you're doing the latter, especially since you mentioned Org policy lynches earlier.  Why are you pressing that when you could be doing original scumhunting?
