But in all this time, it never occurred to me to even THINK about DII having any mods. Dunno why.
You guys are blowing my mind with all the talk about them mods. o.o
There even used to be servers running the mods. Must have all leaked at some point. Blizzard took a looong time to shut the servers down, when they eventually asked everyone to stop their private servers, weirdly enough everyone just DID quietly and that was that.

I don't think they ever expected modders to work on Diablo. They left them to their own devices entirely, and still some amazing results came out. For Diablo 3 they actively discouraged modding, sad thing really. And inconsistent, SC2 has custom maps, why can't we have custom diablo 3? :|

Bowazon is probably the strongest choice. Get a few of the early runewords together, and consider picking up a (cold) merc when you can afford it.

Rings, jewels and amulets are a great source of income.
Keep your eyes open for the scrolls rare jewel to cherry pit or cub scout. There's a few variations on both, they are very strong rings/jewels for the early game. Getting either one will jumpstart your character waaay ahead. Cube scrolls can also be rerolled and upgraded (3x for reroll, 6x+charm to upgrade).

Was unlucky myself with my new char, already 29 but none of the strong stuff for me. lvl 29 at stony field.  (but i'm rerunning the earlier areas with players 4-16. We're up all night to get lucky... >_< starting a first char can really be a bother.)

Jeeeeez. That sounds whackadoodle enough to be fun, and I've milked most of the enjoyment I could out of MedianXL. Will probably download it tonight then and give it a spin- I just might have to do so when my roommate's not in, because last I remember, every page in the manual or splash screen or what have you from the mod had vaguely pornographic fantasy people pictures.

Can it do multiplayer, by chance? I might try to rope my brother in and do a thing with Hamachi or somesuch if it's fun.
Yep, can do multiplayer over LAN or LAN-sims like Hamachi.

Ghouls for fools, kill the quills.
Hint that you may consider cheating: clear the moor but don't open chests. Crank players up to 127, then open the chests. Repeat to get your hands on good cube scrolls and/or a full minor celebrity poster (those drop as 1/3 pieces, get 3 matching pieces and cube them together for a poster. Cube 3 random pieces for a new random piece)

After simply reading the last page of this thread, i have succesfully quenched my urge to give D3 another try. Thanks.
My god just remembering Leoric and the Witch and all the pointless marching around without shortcuts makes me cringe.

Maybe i'll just re-install D2 and start a new Zy-El character.

Last time I tried Zy-El, it was a whole lot of leveling at a snail's pace against quintupled enemy spawns. Is it any better now, or did I miss the good bits?

You only level at a snails pace to begin with. It's extremely tough to get through the first say 15 levels with your first character. From there on you'll have the option to make and use various equipment that your further characters can equip from lvl1 or 2.
I can understand if you never made it past the den of evil (if you even got past the GOD DAMN FUCKING BIRD THINGS in the 2nd area :P)

What i like about it: endless lvling, endless crafting, metagaming around rollovers, HUGE amounts of stuff to find and collect.
There's no great point about it, new plot twists or anything. It's taking hack and slash to the extreme for people who like to never run out of tougher enemies and better items to find or craft. There's 10k lvls for your character, skills go up to 100 (30x100, so you're stuck with skillpoints from lvl2995 or something around that), several dungeons transformed into insanity dungeons whose normal versions you may want to leave alone until you're well into nightmare etc.

You can't spell Let's Play without the German Gronkh. Although there is a disturbing absence of any letter-similarity whatsoever, as i have just noticed.

1 PC, 1 Laptop lightly used while travelling.

Theres only 3 console games i'd play: final fantasy, pokemon and (oooold) metroid. No reason to spend money for whole systems.
I don't even own a TV to plug them into.

Not to mention: i played pokemon red and blue ages ago and the new games dont have the same allure for me, and ff7, 8 can be played on PC anyway.

I invaded a Glitch castle. The guards and lord were hostile, but the normal citizens were neutral so I left them alone.

So. Much. Loot. I have probably four times the number of pixels I had when I entered, a bunch of nifty decorative items, a ton of new codex entries and cooking recipes,  and a fancy golden shield.
It helps to not have your weapon equip when you enter an NPC place.

Or not, depending on your goals. Kills mean loot, of course.

That has me wondering: is there a dimitri video for DF yet? (i.e. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GYWYE6Udi4 )

Smartphones really are a lot more powerful than a lot of people seem to think.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II has a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 720p resolution display, 2 GB of RAM, and storage capacity up to 128 GB.  That's about on par with the PC I had about four years ago.  I played some pretty damn good games on that PC.

Not that I have an abundance of faith in this project, I just haven't completely written it off yet.  He's not getting any of my money until I can see where this is going though.
ugh.

Well.

even if they were MORE powerful, they'd still have no keyboard, mouse, gamepad. Just a touchscreen, and even that minimalistic way of creating input then still lacks precision.
You just can't make a game for such a platform and expect a good result on other platforms. It's simply not going to be anywhere near as good as it could have been.

Thanks for this thread, i came pretty close to buying it when i saw it on Steam. No chance of that now. Mobile game for 20€, lol.

In the same vein, any word on possible pre-order bonuses except for the $5 off? I'm on the fence about it but realize it probably won't be any cheaper on the holiday sale than it is now.
The preorder bonus will be a horrendous amount of bugs to begin with and 15$ extra paid compared to the price 5 months later, like any x game before.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: The Dogs Of War

i don't think dogs gain stats. Read up on DF genetics, maybe you can breed big and strong dogs even if you can't train em to be that way.
