I really enjoyed your writing and style, del! Thanks for making these for us!

On a sidenote, what, in the name of Armok’s hairy legs, is a fleshball?
well, that’s less awful than I had thought, at least
but the image of Elpho just grabbing it and kicking it and punching, killing it for no other reason than that it’s there, is deliciously horrible

the poetry is tainted with the racism you'd expect from a goblin
this is just perfect; I’d sig it if I had any more space

Other Games / Re: How did you last die?

The final boss keeps zapping me. I jump up to his head and try to play grenade basketball but I’ve never really gotten the hang of grenades in Half Life and I’ve died so many times. One time I fell into his head but I didn’t know what to do, and, predictably, died.

I mean, it took more like a month for it to get built, but the first time around it was destroyed in roughly .2 seconds, so y’know

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Please Don't Bring Back Dwaren Economy
« on: June 23, 2021, 06:47:30 pm »
What I don't think would be a good idea is any sort of walrasian modeling of fortress mode. To put it simply, that's kind of the game, isn't it? To me fortress mode has always been throwing down the gauntlet to all those who claim that the 'benevolent dictator' is a reasonable way to run a society. It's clearly not, and DF makes this case in spades.
That’s so true, isn’t it? The way the player walls in the vampire so he can become their never-sleeping manager or walls out the last two dwarves to die by goblin because they’ll get there too late and they’re too slow and they’re nothing more than useless Legendary Stonecrafters anyway or walls in the three people who got bitten by the werelizard, gives them no food and water because they’ll regenerate every month anyway, and then releases them on the invading goblins to die when the time is right, for the good of the Mountainhomes and the Crying Melons, just destroys the idea of a benevolent dictator. It would be even worse if the player was physically a dwarf who could die, because they’d do anything at all to save themselves.

I mean, maybe we do all this because it’s !!dwarfy!! and efficient and they’re all just little bearded smiley faces and binary anyway, but still. Still.

Edit
Oh and for the record and to be at least slightly on-topic the economy sounds like a terrible idea, to me, at least without a worldwide economy first to give it meaning.

I heard before about insanity treatment, so called "Amontillado method", but when I asked Recon about Amontillado she answered that we don't brew that stuff here. Sadly, you can't have everything in one fortress.
I know I’m late, but this is absolutely brilliant.

DF Suggestions / Re: Terrible Suggestions Thread

Dwarves can have a preference for hickory smoked horse buttholes.
They also get terribly upset if they catch you trying to substitute hickory smoked cow buttholes.
i don't know what this is a reference to and i'm not sure i want to know.

An old youtube poop called doctor tran. Its funny, while.youre ten years old.
One of the kids in my middle school class brought it up, but also mentioned the additional "hickory smoked bear vaginas" which im convinced he made up.
...so that’s where that came from...
For some reason I misread that, and saw ‘so that’s where that cat came from’ and I was, quite justifiably, fairly horrified.

Welcome.

Warm Canyons is well constructed, and seems like it would have efficient pathing for everyday commutes. I like the open air room that extends down about 6 or 7 z levels. And the curvature of the entrance tunnel is pleasant to look at.

The deaths due to the occasional splash of aquifer dribble hardly surprise me, as it doesn't take much for a dwarf to casually fling themselves off of even the slightest waterfalls.
They do it with such abandon, don’t they?

we have a new generation of cat's!

The story has taken an unexpectedly cute turn

I mean, what’d you expect? Smallhands, after all.

327
Well, a non-messy fortress would be non-dwarfy, isn't it?
Ha, darn right. Your English is just fine, by the way; I’m learning German, and wish I could speak it half so well; please do take a turn!

Life imitates art
and well does ‘the first resident was identified as a man in his 20s who had been homeless for several years, and who has been staying in local shelters and living on the streets’ accurately describe the average dwarf at Smallhands

329
I’ve loved your updates, delphonso! ‘The writing is cruel and scathing; overall, the prose is amateurish at best’.

61 citizens? Looks like someone will have to put the small back into smallhands...

Got all my preferences reset (custom keybinds and whatnot) - and spent a while taking stock of the fort once more. Should update within a couple days. The baby has decided that mornings are no longer for me - but instead, for her.
Mornings for the morning god!
