((I am back, reading through the last few turns now.

A few notes:

Grieger - I'm pretty sure in my standing orders I said that you got permission to complete the road from the lord of Romilath, granted he's going to tax any good passing through pretty obscenly.

Akroma/Imp - Awesome writing for the battle.))

((I must apologize for my lateness at posting.

My computer is going to be out of commission for the next week, and my time to check this thread will be very short, not nearly enough to write a proper RP.

Akroma will be in charge of changing turns while i'm gone. He's proven in the past to be fairly willing to reliably change the turn orders.

For my moves, they will be as such:

Karamara will offer to try and help Larika find her way home, effective immediatly. Once there she will try and broker trade relations and get a trade route set up. If anything untoward happens to them en'route I leave Impending Doom responsible for keeping her alive. Iten will remain in Aveceleba until she returns, under the care of Dodek and his wife. (Please keep them out of RP's unless Aveceleba is attacked. If the vulpinan capital is placed under siege while I'm gone then Dodek will use his summons and Mranna will use her own 'special' brand of magic. Which is a form of necromancy that binds summoned spirits to dead bodies indefinably. Obviously it's very experimental and a capable human could easily take on two or three undead in combat. However these living dead have no mind and no fear, and the force animating them doesn't stop until the creature is fully dismembered, as even individual limbs will attempt to follow their master's orders.) Fortuantly, the dracon woman does rather like the little furball... as much as she likes anyone at least.

Kireal will maintain power in Romilath, and will use that to place a high tariff on any goods bought in his marketplace. Obviously, merchants can avoid the tariff by bypassing the city, but doing so is long, difficult, and irritating. Generally it's just not worth the effort.

The migration in the west will continue until they meed Graed. Graed will spend only one turn in the Roshani town.

Cenna will say anything in order to survive her particular predicament. Revealing all she knows about Liliaceleba. The defenses of the town are as follows:
1 earthen palaside and moat. The palaside is thick and heavy, having taken many months to finish. Normally two vulpinan's patrol around the outside during times of peace.
1 - Elite Bowman (Grand Master) + Competent Swordsvupi + Adept Ambusher + Trapper: Raom. He has a few stacks of iron bolts hidden, however mostly he uses bone bolts made from fish bones, his bow is an artifact. In DF terms he would be Very Agile, Strong, and Unbelievably Tough.

1 - Accomplished Bowman + Swordsvulpi (Absent) : Graed. He is currently away, however it is prudent to mention his ability since the storm giants are very close to Liliaceleba. His bow is wooden, and he prefers alder arrows. His stats in DF terms would be Agile, Extremely Strong, Tough

5 - Professional Bowmen + Spearvulpi + Competent Wrestler: These three men and two women serve as the town guard. Generally they patrol the wall in shifts, normally two at a time. Since Gread has left the midnight patrol has been one short. They carry wooden bows and arrows, as well as three wooden spears each.

3 - Competent Bowmen + Expert Ambushers: These three are the hunters for Liliaceleba. Although they have no formal military training they are quite good with their bows and good at not being seen. In the case of a fight these three will act as scouts, guides, and as auxiliary fighters.

4 - Wood Cutters(1 Absent) / 1 Miner : These five members of the town are auxiliary forces. They are all Very Strong and Very Tough, but none of them are particularly fast. There are suits of armor for each of them in addition to their copper weapons (which double as tools of their trade) and enough bucklers in the armory for each of them to be considered *technically* fully equipped.

Karamara's notable skillsare as follows:

Expert Cartographer, Novice Ambusher, Novice Magic User (water affinity), Novice Consoler, Competent Conversationalist, Proficient Judge of intent ,Adept Negotiator,Talented Pacifier, Adept Persuader.

She is Perfectly Agile, but has no other stat boosts aside from her immortality (which all heroes have. making them immune to aging effects, but not to getting killed by mortal means.)

Finally. Heph, I'm not certain if they have moved. I was assuming you were moving them since your hero is in the group, technically putting it under your control. :/

Either way, Graed will quickly lay down a basic trade agreement, and leave the next turn to meet up with the migrant group and have them set up a settlement between Liliaceleba and your lake.

Offer: Wood, Pottery, High Quality Crafts, Cloth, High Quality Clothing
Requesting: Stone, Certain medicinal herbs only found in wetlands, glass.

A trade of technology would not be a bad thing either. Vulpinan's have an extensive lore for medicine that probably could benefit the Roshinani. However, the roshani should be wary. While many vulpinan's are like Raom and Graed, very trustworthy and hard workers, others are very *good* thieves. I'm not talking just about klepto pickpockets like Cenna either. Catburglers, swindlers, con-men, and the whole lot exist in vulpin society, and many are part of a very real nation-wide thieves guild based in Aveceleba (indeed, the thieves guild is more unified than the governments.) The reason not much has been mentioned about them is that they have very a very stringent code about not stealing from locals and kinsmen. However, foreigners and other species are fair game.

I'm not saying don't trade. Just be wary that I will have a *lot* to post when i get back, and much of it may be a very nasty surprise if you let my traders get too close.))

((Honestly, I don't think she'll learn a lot more from him. In a little while I'm going to write a bit concerning Larika and Kara's move for this turn. Let's just say thing will get interesting. ^^))

Aveceleba -

"all right, let's try something harder...let's summon a lesser fire spirit now." Dodek said into Kara's ear as she focused again, his clawed hand brushing a faint trail of dust that the wisp she had summoned left behind that had accumulated on the table from her last attempt. The vulpinan woman was progressing quickly in her studies, almost too quickly for the old summoner's tastes. In only a few short months she had become proficient in many of the basics of the craft, reaching a stage that most people took years of study and practice to master within a few short months. It was unsettling to the old summoner, to say the least.

However, Dodek did not let the progress of his best pupil deter him. Many of the other vulpinan's who had visited him to learn his magic had been turned away. Some lacked the temprament to properly bargin with the entities, other's the sheer magic power required, and more than one had been forcefully removed from attempting to take his belongings. While certainly not all of the vulpinan's were thieves, it seemed almost a running joke that an eight guild operated within the walls of the city, taking what it could from foreign visitors and merchants.

With reservations Dodek returned to the business at hand, watching as the vulpinan took two pieces of chalk in seperate handpaws and began scetching out symbols on the flat rock table that he had bought specifically for his craft. Even after nearly a year of interaction with the vulpinan woman, he still could not get over the dexterity of her people. Balancing on both of her right limbs, somehow she managed to lean over the low table and draw the protective symbols into it, the long lines of chalk going into the exact patterns of the barrier spell she had learned. It was a neccecity, at least when bargining with spirits of fire, to do so. When summoned the creatures were malevolent and violent, many of them would attempt to maim or kill their summoner, to either free themselves from their magic, or in an attempt to satisfy their violent natures. It was only with the barrier did any living creature have a chance at communing properly.

With a deep breath Karaman began to concentrate, her will pushing and pulling against reality. The actual act of summoning this spirit was not unlike that of summoning a whisp. Just the power was different, and the bait for the spirit had to be perfect.

Dodak felt a draw as she began the ritual, her voice muttering syllables of incantation as the magic swirled around her body tighter. Knotting up and rifting a bit of *this* against *that* as the fabric of reality began to shift slightly.

As the wind rushed past his face towards the rift, Dodek called out to Karaman "Good, now hold it steady and place your offering to the spirit. Just a small segment of your magic, enough to tempt it to listen to your bargin!"

Suddenly he felt a shift, a rumble almost of anger and digust that caused the floor of his house to shake. Kara's eyes flew open as the rift began to shudder and break apart, the palm of a flaming hand just visible through it. A great indecipherable voice boomed out, angry.

Suddenly the magic ceased, and Kara walked back from the table, shaken. "I'm sorry Dodek. I... don't know what happened."

The old summoner looked at her quizlically and shrugged as best as he could. "Perhaps... perhaps we were wrong to move ahead this quickly. Let's take a break shall we?"
~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~≈~

Kara furiously skipped a smooth rock over the surface of the river as she left the walls of the town, watching as a large fish under the surface quickly gulped the stone down before it could stop moving, causing the stone to disappear in a flash of scales. Unheeding, she racked her mind as to why she had failed to summon the spirit.

Five attempts, each of them meeting with failure. No matter what she did the creatures on the other end refused her. Laughing, shouting, jeering... Not that Dodek could see that. Only her senses had told her that her offer, one made exactly as the summoner suggested, was being ignored.

The chant, the protective spells, the preparation, the implementation, everything down to the very attire of an apprentice summoner. She had even taken to carrying a focusing stone like his, although she doubted it did anything good. So why... why, WHY, did it fail? Frustrated she leaned against a nearby tree. An ancient oak, untouched by her bretheren because of it's placement near the river. Removing it would have caused the topsoil to losen, potentially damaging the river. Letting herself slip halfway into a magical trance to cool her emotions, she thought once more to herself 'Why?'

'It's because you are not like them'

Kara catapulted from her resting position, nearly falling into the river before regaining her balance as a voice, gentle and calm touched her mind. Feverishly she looked around for the speaker, trying not to shiver as she thought about how  something could talk in her mind.

'I am right here.' This time Kara was aware, actually understanding the voice and locating the thought. Her eyes widening in suprise, she reached forward to touch the old oak she had rested on. 'You... you can talk?'

With little emotion the tree replied, it's great voice melodic in her mind as she sank deeper into her trace. 'Yes, We trees always have listened and always have thought of your kind. Now that you have finally begun to tap into your magic my voice has been awakened to you.'

Kara shook her head, disbelivingly. This wasn't real, there was no way...'Dodek never told me anything like this. Am I dreaming? Did I fall asleep at your roots and am I now imagining your voice'

'All of reality is a dream. All of your dreams are a potential reality.'

Kara shook, pinching the skin of a backpaw. Pain, she wasn't dreaming...'Wait what was that?'

The tree almost seemed to chuckle, it's intractable voice sprinkled with faint mirth, 'Pay that no heed. The explaination to why Dodek did not know is simple. His people are those of fire, living across the vast desert. They do not belong in the forest, and never before has one of their summoners come to see us.'

'How... how would you know that?'

'We trees have long memories and loud voices, at least to each other. My people remember the wars waged between his people and men. How they both cut us down mercilessly in order to spill the sap that runs in their viens. If your master, this Dodek, were to come to me I would not speak with him.'

'All right... but that does not explain why I cannot summon a fire spirit.'

'His people are of fire and air, all emotion and heat. Like the scorching deserts they claim as their home they are quick to come to an opinion and even quicker to act upon it. While your people share with them that fluid freedom that is the sky, you lack the internal fire they contain to call upon the same spirits. You, Karaman Amanela, are of water. There is little more Dodek can teach you that you cannot learn yourself.'

'But... how can I start? How should I start? He was my guide, my teacher. I hardly know where to begin without some form of guidence'

'Trust in yourself Kara, and remember: trust in the whisps.'

((If I used that mentality for every civ, I would already be done.

No, I'd much rather do this properly and work on each civ in turn. Right now i'm trying to figure out why Roshani adventurers refuse to wear clothing, and why every guard has on nothing but at <<Rope>>.

I'll get back to you when I get progress.

Either way, this is way OT. I will say nothing more of the mod for a few days.))

((Currently !!elves!! are slated for the very last race to be done. Making them playable will be a project almost as large as making the other races possible, so i'm leaving it for last.

Unfortunatly, many of the ideas you want for them to use are totally impossible. In the end, it may be better if they end up as a nuisence or sieger civ and not a playable one.

Either way, I'm working my way down the list slowly.))

The dracon are unchanged except for reducing their river/lake/ocean support and increasing their plains/desert support.

There are also many other little changes to the raws. New weapons for the bigger races, new toys (the removal of all shoes for Vulpinan's. >.>), instruments, and the Tengu Tokin.

If you have anything in particular you want to add, mention it and it will be so.

Six civs done so far. Testing the Roshani now.))

((And I planned to have Kara be found half-dead in the final months of pregnancy outside of campcastle by a regular patrol (Honestly I did. I didn't account for Sivek to send a scouting group to find her so far.) When things happen you don't expect the best thing to do is to suck it up and roll with the punches.))

The first post is (mostly) updated. If anything seems unusual please shout it out so I can correct it. I lost track over the last few days of what was happening where exactly.))

Also the skin can be easily defeated whit tactics one it is know, just let one big or a few smaller units hold him and ether put a spear down his throat or hold him underwater till he drowns. He can also be assassinated whit poison.

I don't really have much against an instant freezing attack by one single creature if it is stated long before it is used, the thing that brothers me is the speed and the fact that there were no warning, and also that it just sensed the aura of the !!elf!!.
A superattack is ok considering the sacrifice, OR an instant messenger whit no baility of physical interaction, but NOT an instant teleporting superattack))</STRONG>

((Each god gave them their own gift however, and even then they gave it limitations. Items can be lost or stolen, invunerability to most common forms of premature death, in a form that cannot be lost or taken and drastically changes his appearance from that of his creator's original intention tend to break the fairness of the game. I agreed with Akroma when he tore out Iten's eyes, even if I didn't like it. That is why I asked you to remove it in the first place, rather than having my piece invunerable but blind.

As for the wraith. It's attack really does not seem that super. You've stated yourself that the !!elves!! are vunerable to cold and especially water ("water, even boiling water, causes them to freeze to death"). Considering that the wraith is a very special unit created from a powerful one and your elf is mearly a single unaware scout it would make sense for the wraith to have more power in this instance.  Yes it's fast and has a powerful attack. However it's limited to places where the Storm Giants have temples already established in its reach, and vunerable to physical weapons if they do manage to hit it (that which I'm assuming a standard military unit could do.)

If you really want to insist on it, then have your elf fight back. Just remember, this game is just starting yet and people will not forget who was stubborn and who was willing to bend once the real fights start. After all, he is just a scout.))

Kireal snarled as he watched the Dracons on the horizen. Their road halfway to the city now as they worked steadily. Weren't they leaving? The overseer had claimed he was leaving, such a duplicious race. If he hadn't had the mind to shoot them where they worked he would have liked to have one of them on his council. Gods knew he needed it. Still, this troublesome bother could not be permitted. Why, allowing reliance on foreign trade would be unthinkable. Vulpinan's traded with vulpinans. There was no need for anything more because they made things the best.

Quickly he strode down the path connected the work site to the road, a brilliant emerald cape billowing out behind him as his bodyguard fanned out along either flank. On the side of the road two dozen vulpinan workers, many absent from their duties, had turned up to watch the strange Dracons. If he was safe anywhere, it was here.

However, even amoungst the sea of protection he felt vunerable as he walked up. Rumors had been creeping into the palace that a rebellion was being plotted. The very idea was atrocious, but if it held any weight then Kireal could not afford to lose face. Any swing in popularity away from him could lead to a bloody civil war within the city, or even a coup. The foppish lord cringed inwardly as he thought of his body on a pike, being paraded along the streets as the others shouted his name with disdain. While foriegn merchants put honest vulpinan's out of business. The very idea of it... was a terrible thought.

It was in those few moments between when he first noticed the other vulpinans, watching on with so much excitement and care, and when the overseer turned and sneered at him in the way only a lizard could, the beastly creature standing tall compared to the vulpinan that Kireal came up with a plan.

His expression changed within a second, the mask of anger and frustration replaced by a winning smile and a cheery voice. The lord quite suddenly looked five years younger as he saluted the overseer with a brief wave. "Overseer! How does your project go? How long will it be before your road to our gracious city by the ocean will be completed?"

Cenna shivered as a scream of pain echoed throughout the temple, the noise faint and distant, as if in a long-distant dungeon. Around her the shadows deepened, as she paced through the narrow halls of the building. Fear and confusion began to finally take control of her feet causing the appendeges to twitch. A second of hesitation passed her face as her fear burbled up above her projected demeanor. That giant... even he, as powerful as he wash, was afraid of what was in here. The realization dawning on her, the woodworker turned about to race for the door, her handpaws slipping on the smooth stone as she raced for the distant sliver of sunlight that drifted though the temple doors. So far...

((The wraith required the death of one of Niphantier's most powerful units on the field armok. Although it was not his champion, he made it pretty blatantly clear that the high priest had a lot of power before Ukko had him commit suicide and tore his soul out of it's afterlife to serve as a messenger for his hero. As it is, the creature has a very limited range and seems to act mostly by instinct and command rather than by cool intellect.

It's power does seem notably balanced against what Storm Giants lost (an affluent and EFFECTIVE leader), especially considering that it's hate for it's own people works against his motive ultimatly. If given half a chance it is very likely to betray it's previous species if it can recive it's revenge.

However, that isn't to say that it can instantly destroy your elf. Ukko is not an ice god after all. The wraith has obviously chosen to ignore my unit in favor of attacking your elf (It is likely that it precives the warm aura as a threaght against itself, being incorporeal.) Currently your elf is being subjected to freezing temperatures, act accordingly.

As for Iten. *I* would prefer if that gift be toned down. Personally, I hate superunits. And Iten is (was) anything but. The original post claimed his skin was unable to be broken or cut. Until now no other indication of the other protections was mentioned. I much prefer Iten being able to be killed by violent means than to have him virtually immortal. His mother is the hero for a reason, not him. Being mostly invunerable to knives, swords, and spears is a huge boon already, after all. And Armok is only one god out of many in this game now.))

((I was thinking we probably could skip over a bit of it, Kara will continue to try and get information out of Larika and show her around the town. It's up to you how much she actually divulges. On a whole, nothing earth-shattering is going to happen in Aveceleba for the rest of the turn.

Another time, in another place witout a time limit it would be a different matter. However backlog can create a bit of a problem here.

Armok, Cenna arrived at the fort two turns ago when Niph was not here to reply. we are trying to catch up on what happened. Personally, I'm expecting something terrible that will cause her a 'delay', but that is not my decision since the giants are not my race.))

Cenna felt even more tense as she saw the nervousness of the giant. Her fur stood on edge as she numbly heard his warning, the resulting tingling sensation almost as if it wished to crawl away from her skin and retreat without her.

Mutely the vulpinan followed the Giant's directions, her feet moving forward even as her mind rebelled against it. On either side the massive constructions of the giants loomed, their stone huts standing amoungst massive cabins seeming to hide millions of fearful and cold eyes. Some were calculating, watching her every movement carefully as if counting her weakness, while others predatory, eyeing her like one would a prey animal before the strike. Most of the faces she saw however, were fearful, not of her, but of something else that had fallen on the camp.

Within a few minutes she reached the temple, a gasp escaping her mouth as she took in the presense of the thing. It was massive and dark, made of stone from the heart of the earth, and... and it was beutiful. What the rest of the camp lacked in asthetics, this temple had in abundance. The stone was perfectly smooth, with large engravings every few feet. Perfectly-wroght statues of giants made from iron and steel sat in little engraved alcoves, the figures fitting into the scene around them almost seemlessly... almost alive. The top was adorned with sharp spikes of iron, the pikes sticking far into the sky and coming to a fine point.

Suddenly Cenna realized the significance of this: The giants were not unable to make beutiful goods, they choose not too. Preferring instead to pool their talants into creating a single, exceptional, piece of artwork. It was gorgeous, it was madness.

Stiffening her spine slightly, the vulpinan steadied herself and entered the building. Ready for whatever happened to her.
