Dwarves can throw other dwarves while wrestling. Throw into deadly places.

Use caution when wrestling near clifs, magma, or other dangers.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: No access to floodgate question

Yah dont channel your floor unless you want to build in the floor UNDER it.

Basicly floodgate block a little pond of water like..

Water souce - Flood gate 1- water chamber - Flood gate 2 - Farm

Open flood gate one to fill the space, then close it. Then open floodgate 2 to pour the water caught in the space onto your farm. I belive 1 7 depth water square will wet 7 square of open ground, so size your water chamber to take that into account.

Remember to lock/forbid the door to the farm room to keep the water from getting your hallway full of mud untill the water has dried and your left with a nice muddy floor for farming on.

Yah or you can farm on sand/clay.

Make sure you've got a furnature stockpile with empty slots set up to accept the empty barrels. That could at least help the situation.

Check to make sure you didn't set "Orders" to "dwaves don't go outside".

Unless of course your trying to chop down tower caps.

You could designate it a low trafic zone, thus minimizing the chances a dwarf will randomly be standing there when you colapse it.

Also a dwarf falling due to a colapsing floor is significantly more likely to live then the targets with stuff colapsing ON them.

Love the animal trap idea though.  :D

Trade the caged officals back to the caravan for some silk or something.

Ransoming people is fun!

Well the thing is if you allow seigers to tear down walls then they could concivibly enter from ANY point on the map that is on the same Z-level as your fort. Heck it would be very easy for the goblins to decide to tunnel though the whole mountain to get to you which would end up causing alot of lag in the long run.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Never ending Meeting
« on: February 18, 2008, 07:49:00 pm »
Ok so the human caravan has come and gone (still no wagons, I doubt ill ever get around to finishing that path) with much trading done. However something wasn't right.

The human trader is still here, he's been here for a whole season now! He is trying to have a meting with the mayor... funny all his jobs have been turned off for forever because he is usualy in the military... so I have no idea whats going on. I take a look at the mayor. Ok the job screen says he is "Conducting metting" i check up on him, he is sitting in his office with the human trader and his two body guards, but the meting never ends!

So now the dwarf caravan is here, and now there is anohter person camped in the mayor's chamber, and nothing is happening. He will stop the meting to eat and drink, he will do other jobs if I enable them, but as far as his mayor duites are concerned he is completly stuck in that meting.

I belive my transition to the latest version may have just been given a kick start.

My latest artifact was a turtle shell Helm, decorated with turtle shell, and lined with turtle shell. It also has a set of menicing turtle shell spikes on it.

When my craftsdwarf started making it I was like.. wtf? 4 turtle shells?

I think its, you can't get pregnent in a cage (birth controll!).

Also I like having at least 2 cats around for steady supply of kitten mittens.

Oh also, in desperate times, drafting someone into the fortris guard generates a happy thought. That can prevent a trantrum and also keeps voilent dwarves under controll.

Good Quality rooms for every dwarf and a Legendary Dining hall do wonders for repairing depression. Also a few platnium statues in the Bararks help aleviate military woes.

When all else fails get your military dwarves to kill something or spar, that will cheer them up. Theres also mist, if you can manage that.

A cage designated as a zoo also helps.

Your path is clear, you must obliterate the ston by flooding the room with magma.
