DF Bug Reports / Rain does not hurt the Fireman?

I don't know if this could be considered a bug or not.

However, its raining out right now and theres a fireman outside in the rain.

Should he get hurt / go back to the lava when it rains?

Or maybe even find shelter in a fortress ? heh

Not saying it should kill him, but maybe at least hurt enough to send him back home.

DF Bug Reports / Plant and Furniture Stockpile not working!

I set my plant stock piles to not use any barrels. I'm doing this because i have 6 different stock piles, each stock pile for each crop. (saves barrels)

So now all my plants are being harvested and my dwarfs are putting them into the barrels in the furniture stockpile... wtf!

I don't want them stored there     :(

Is there anyway to fix this for now without having to put barrels in the plant stock piles.

Also, they should not be putting any food in the furniture stock pile at all since its not enabled to have food stored there....
The furniture stock pile does not have any food options enabled...

Just as the topic says, when my dwarfs arrived they have no social skills. Usually they would have a whole bunch. This is the first time since the social skills update, that this has happened.

I was just told that, swan has given birth to cygnets.

How ever i down have no tamed swans, they are wild animals living around my area.

So im assuming this is a bug. Or it could be a bug with the mod im using.

DF Bug Reports / Flux Matrials not avaliable for import?

I was looking through the import list, and i couldn't find any of the flux materials under stones.

This is a bit disappointing as my map has no flux, but plenty of iron.

Its not that much of a big deal, iron will do just fine. But it would be nice to be able to import flux materials as well, don't you think?

DF Bug Reports / Dwarfs ignoreing zone only drinking orders.

i have a nice water source setup down near my fortress, yet the dwarfs seem to want to go get a drink, half way across the map at the brook....

The area with the brook is where all the wild animals spawn that kill dwarfs...


I have not had this problem yet... Maybe its my fortress design, its in fact pretty big, but the water source is very accessible and much closer then the brook....

Im using the most current version, unless toady just released a new one in the past week or so.

Up until now the only people who ignored zone only drinking was my military dwarfs, it seems even your non military ones will do it also at times.

It says you only need 512 megs of ram, yet I've seen DF easly using more then 800 megs of ram.

I wouldn't be surprised if it can get upto a gig.

Or make a option that repeats, but does not remove the order no matter what, unless you tell it too.

I would like to keep my brewery's set to brew drinks for ever. I don't want to have to remake the order every time we run out of barrels, in a minute theres going to be about 5 barrels free from the drink pile alone... hehe

Im assuming this is planned, but if not then i suggested it anyways. If you have this planned already toady, disregard this thread and delete it.

If you build a wall, and then build more then 2 floors away from it.

Building one more floor should cause a collapse. When i say "should" i'm using 3 tiles as a example, toady can figure out how far a floor can be built before theres not enough support to hold it up.

DF Suggestions / Idlers Label and Fonts suggestion

Keep the little idlers label at the bottem right visable still even if you get a message. I find it annoying that when you get a lot of people, you get a lot of messages, and each time you get a message, you gotta press a to clear it, and then press a again to get out of that screen...

My second suggestion, use 2 diffrent font files for draw text and graphics.

In Other words, load one bitmap for the text, and then 1 bitmap for the graphics.

That way we can still read everything in the game. Also it would allow us to add in even more graphics to the sets, since we wont have to worry about them being used in words.

Really would appreciate if you could do this toady  :)

Rather then displaying 200 separate different seeds, Why not just group them all together?

Rather then

lets say you only want to un-forbid one or 2 of them.

When you forbid or claim. It just makes a new stack...

Also, This could work for rocks as well.

When you move over a stack after pressing (k)

It shows you how many stones you have, Grouped together.

[30] Hematite

Lets say you want 25 Marble to be Forbidden

[30] Hematite

Dump would work the same way, but there would also need to be a Dump and Forbid stack also. Much better then 100s of rock's listed.

Are there plans already to do something like this? I don't see it as a hard thing to code in. Be a nice feature to have. Save me a lot of time and i'm sure a lot of other peoples time.


IN Fact.

I don't know how toady has his code setup currently.

But it seems as if theres 100 rocks on a tile. Then there are 100 seprate rock's being stored in memory. Rather then them just being grouped together in a few variables.

Then again maybe he is grouping them already, but he just chose to display all 100 rocks that happen to be in a tile.

If he changed this it could save some cpu, maybe reduce memory also.


Another good thing that would come from this. You would also be able to tell how many rocks are on a tile. Or how many seeds come in a bag that your buying from a trader.

When a dwarf dies on your map, and you don't bury him/her. They can come back and haunt the fortress as a ghost.

Mainly waking people up when there sleeping and scaring people. The ghost shouldn't be able to move things around.

Once religion comes along, a exorcism or whatever its called, needs to be preformed to get rid of the ghost.

It would be more realistically if windmills would need cloth to be built as well as wood, don't you think?

This of course is a trivial thing, but would add to the game in the little ways  :)

DF Suggestions / Save Game, Save Game and Exit.

It would be nice to have 2 options, one to save the game, one the save the game and exit.

Usually i save just because i don't want the power to go out and then i lose all my game. I shouldn't have to unload the whole map and then reload just to save...
