I'm playing it in a window that is 1920x1100 right now, I do it because I like to stay in window form so i can surf the web on my other monitor. Is DF going to run slower because its resolution is much higher than the default?</STRONG>

Umm when your playing DF you should not be browsing the web... Thats going to cause significate slow downs right there. Run DF in Fullscreen and don't do nothing else while running it.

If you want to browse the web, save and shut down DF first.

Maybe its time to not put so much pressure on toady and let him do what he does best   :)

I'm sure him having to read about people complaining in the forums about simple stuff, is not helping motivate him to get things done  :)

Theres a thing called karma, which i just like to call the exchange of negative and positive energy.

'Us', if we create negitive energy, and toady receives that negitive energy, thats bad karma  :)

I do my best not to create any un-needed negitive energy for toady. So if we all do that, then that would be in all of our best interests  :)

We should just let this topic die. I figured it was dead until someone else replied.... Just let this topic go  :)

Yes the game could be more challenging.(A lot more....)

I'm pretty sure toady knows this...

Why are you guys arguing about this. Toady seems to be a decent programmer, and will make the game more challenging, as time permits him.

Posting in the forums arguing about this stuff does nothing to help make the game more challenging.

I'm sure if you go read the Dev pages for what toady plans to do. You will easily and quickly see that toady has a lot of stuff planned to make this game more challenging.

We just have to have patience and wait   :)

Thats where that thing "Making the game more challenging Yourself" comes into play. Waiting for better challanges to be programed may mean making your own challenges and sticking with them, to pass the time.

Or go play a different game until a new update of DF comes out  :)

I'm usually playing between DF and Wolfenstein  :)

R = River
W = Water Wheel
H = Horizontal Axle
V = Vertical Axle
G = Gear Assembly
< > = Direction pumping from
code:

RR#
RW###
RWHG#
RW#V#
RRPP>
RR###

My Wheel is transmitting power to my Horizontal Axle. The Horizontal Axle Transmits power to my Gear Assembly.

The Gear Assembly transmits no power to the Vertical Axle.

I tried Switching the Vertical Axle to a Horizontal. But that didn't work.

Can anyone tell me how to get this pump working?

Okay.... I switched the vertical axle to a gear assembly, and of course it works now. However. What was i doing wrong before. Why wont the vertical axle connect to the gear assembly ?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Hurry up & pull that damned lever!!!
« on: February 09, 2008, 07:38:00 pm »
Yeah thats what there needs to be....

Lets see what happens. I'm sure Toady knows about this stuff, its pretty obvious.

But for right now getting that Pull Now Option Coded in would be great. If possible.

Well, thats why i just suggested that other option "Pull Now"

Pull Lever the normal command, would work the same.

But if there are invaders, or you just want a lever pulled right away, there should be a pull now command. Which gets the lever pulled "NOW!"

:)

The one command would work normally. The second would make the dwarfs stop what there doing to pull the lever. That way if your building stuff and you don't want the dwarfs to stop building that, you use the first option.

I was just thinking last night.

That it would be a great idea, to add in a second pull option.

"Pull Lever Now"

When you select this option, the closest person drops whatever hes doing and then goes and pulls that lever. Nothing else can make that person stop, food, drink, injury.

In fact, for no reason should that person not pull that lever. Even monster targeting the dwarf should not make him not pull that lever.

The only way the lever doesn't get pulled, is if the dwarf dies.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Do underground water sources run out?
« on: February 08, 2008, 01:05:00 pm »
Is there anyway to turn that off so they can be drained out.

Ive tried 3 different maps now, to build a fort with a river that freez's so that i can divert it, and every time i get down like 2 or 3 tiles from the frozen river, and all it is is underground water all over the place. I cant even dig my fortress. Its pretty damn annoying  :(

I managed to hit a underground water source. I drained it for 3 months into a stream area, and its still going strong.

Do they ever run out or do they just keep re-generating water?
