"Curse you! Curse you all! Curse you all for turning a blind eye to the sufferings of an innocent boy! Does it please you to have his blood on your hands by your own ignorance?! Then fine! Come at me! Kill a child! Kill someone from House Argenteolus! Be the gears in the Empire's automata that exchanges blood for magic! See how much your loyalty pays off once your blood is the next sacrifice for 'the Empire's sake'! Spineless cowards!"

In face of her impeding doom, Djedre clutches at a hint of unrestrained freedom. Realizing that cruel joke, there is no longer a reason to repress what she truly feels about a society where only spellcasters can find fulfillment.

"ARNVIDAR!"

She had experienced many hardships, and few moments of happiness, in her life. What always kept her spirits high though were the books she read. Stories about heroes rising up to great challenges and overcoming them. She admired to become like them, to break the chains kept upon her by her family and become her own person, someone like the manifold protagonists in her books. That is why she chose this life, instead of staying in exile. She wanted to make the world just a little bit more like the worlds in her stories and bring hope and idealism back into a world darkened by elitism and classism.

When she chose that life, she renounced her last name.

But now, as her comrade fell to the ground, something clicks within Djedre's head.

Or, rather, snaps.

Some things were never meant to be able to escape from.

Djedre fixates her gaze on the guard in front of her.

"... Commoner! I endured enough of this tasteless joke! First you dared to imprison me and now you strike down those that are under my aegis! Is that how you treat a lady from House Argenteolus and her entourage?! Yield your weapon at once and step aside, or face the wrath of a noblewoman whom you dared to draw blood from! Then all of you shall pray to be in jail yourself, for no other place on Corothis shall be capable of keeping you safe from ME!"

If the Guard does not yield, Push DEX and attack.

The shattering of the bottle Susumu threw did little to change the tension in the air or distract the opposing gang. Mostly by virtue of landing on the ground halfway.

"Cool it for now, Shiraishi-kun. There's enough opportunity to learn the proper dance, promised."

A somewhat strong and definitely loud voice comes from the backrow of of the Hirose delinquents.

"OI, OI, OI! YER PULLIN' MY LEG, SOUBAN!"

The man belonging to that voice pushes forward and it was immediately apparent that he was the leader of these delinquents. First, he was a fit man with some noticable muscles under his uniform and visibly puts on a knuckle-duster as he approaches, a peculiar choice for someone who always has to expect to fight against more long-ranged weaponry like rods, boards, bats, trash cans, car tires, wooden boxes et cetera.
Second, only a leader would brandish a unique hairdo such as his.

"Yer promised me and my boys a good scuffle so yer can make up with the Tiger Bancho after yer pissed him off with yer 'Fuck the Bodyguards I have nerds!' declaration! And now yer pissin' on that peace offering? Crazy dawg yer are!"

"Crazy dawg indeed. And also a dead dawg! The Heavenly Bodyguards' gonna mess yer up real good if he hears this shit!"

Retaining his unimpressed facial expression, the Souban simply cracks his neck by shifting his head to the left and then the right before staring at Hashimoto.

"I know it's rather unusual, Hashimoto-san. Hence this not being a normal fight either. It's a vote-of-distrust fight."

The moment he mentioned these words, the Hirose delinquents lowered their weapons and fists, their faces in utter disbelief. And for good reason too, for a vote-of-distrust fight is issued when a gang no longer feels that a higher-ranked delinquent deserves to be on top of things. To stop abuse of the system, alongside the general honor- and pride-driven culture of delinquents in the area, the one who issues the challenge bets their entire territory on the fight. If the challenger wins, the delinquent gets demoted to a rank below the challenger. If the challenger loses, their territory is now part of the higher-up's realm.
In other words, the Souban just now issued a challenge where he could lose everything and win absolutely nothing, as Hashimoto is already below his rank. In fact, some rule-lawyers might even argue that in the case of the Souban winning, Hashimoto would get "demoted" to Bansho since that would be the rank below the challenger who is the Souban. It's a win-win for the Hirose gang no matter what.

"... Yer a wicked dawg, dawg. There's no way we wouldn't accept, right, boys?!"

The delinquents regain their cocky grins and start getting into a formation while shouting victory cries and some cackling like hyenas.

"Since I'm such a benevolent future Souban, yer have a fiver to whip yer nerds in shape. I don't want any of them to stain their panties when we lay on the beatdown, hurhurhurhurhur!"

As the group was waiting, a familiar face enters the back alley and approaches them.

It was none other than the Souban himself.

He is followed by a bit more than a dozen unfamiliar faces, all of them wearing the Hirose High uniform. Some of them wielding wooden sticks and boards, a few carrying larger rocks and one even bringing an iron chain to the mix. They were smiling and grinning at the recruits in a rather sinister manner. One of them speaks up.

"That them, big boss?"

"Yeah. Accepted them, even kinda encouraged that dork over there to join when he was about to brown his pants."

He points at Tomomi Mori. The Hirose delinquents chuckle in response and different ones start talking in response.

"Hurhur, I like 'em. So you really wanna make us fight 'em. How cruel of you, Soooouban~"

"Yup."

"This will be so much fun!"

"Yup."

"Can't wait to beat these losers up!"

"... Oh. I think you misunderstand."

The Souban slowly walks over to the recruits and turns around to the gang from Hirose High, his expression remaining as serious as ever.

"I brought you here so you can get beat up by them."

He then tilts his head half-way towards his fellow students.

"Anyone wanna chicken out of a Kishibe-style job interview?"

~~Prologue Chapter~~
The Sun May Set, But My Fists Never Will
First Opening Theme

Early Evening. The sun is barely visible behind the tall buildings surrounding a back alley near Kishibe Senior High. Throughout the decades, this back alley has become intrinsically tied to the history of said high school itself, being the place of many historic moments. Banshos swearing their loyalty to the first Souban this city ever had during the late 90s. The "4807" event of 2007 where not even riot police could break up the biggest spontaneous party happening in this back alley, lasting for an entire Friday and Saturday, with the Banchos hosting the party agreeing to clean up the alley on the Sunday after out of sheer respect for the place's history. The Purge of 2014 where the second Souban's gang directly attacked members of the Yakuza trying to use Kishibe delinquents as middle-men, resulting in them actually ceasing operations directly targeting Kishibe High. And, last but not least, the Double Coronation, where the Banchous swore loyalty to the third Souban, only to do the same thing again a year later with the fourth and current Souban, kickstarting the Golden Age of Delinquents.

One year later, this back alley becomes witness of a historic moment yet again. A handful of Kishibe students most wouldn't associate with the usual Yankii gangs are gathering here, in what many would consider a Yankii Sanctuary. Those are the downtrodden, the ones hit with tragedy, a thirst for vengeance, or simply bad luck, who wouldn't have become proper Kishibe delinquents under any other circumstance. But with the Souban having suddenly disbanded his Heavenly Bodyguards (consisting of six of the strongest Banchos in the area) a week ago and forming a new group, having rejected the established delinquents of Kishibe High but accepting said downtrodden students, fate dealt a new hand to them.

The new recruits start to gather in the back alley. Only the Souban hasn't appeared yet on time.

All players may post now!

Quick rules reminder:

1. Keep non-IC stuff in the OoC thread. Otherwise you get dopeslapped by the Souban and last time he did that the dopeslapped dude got hospitalized for two weeks.

2. Post formatting mandatory. As such:
"Colored normal text for spoken words!"
Colored italized text for thoughts.
*Colored text that is small and/or between asterisks for whispering*
Normal text for general descriptions.
Bolded text for mechanical actions and orders!

3. Order of battle posts:
Player actions -> GM resolves -> Player actions -> GM resolves -> Repeat pattern until all player actions have been posted -> GM posts and resolves Ally Phase, followed by Enemy Phase, -> New turn map -> New round, repeat above
If posted actions need to be resolved first before you want to plan your action, ask in the OoC thread or on the Discord server.

4. Activity is key! You don't have to make eloquent RP posts all the time (or even have to RP, especially during combat), but try to post your action within a reasonable time. To keep the flow going, during combat, each turn enters a "Megapost" state if there are still unresolved actions after a week (exact date will be posted in the Discord channel's description). During that, all players are allowed to make actions for the remaining players who haven't posted an action yet. However, it would be polite to ask the respective players beforehand if they still want to write an action themselves, to give them a chance.

5. If you feel like you cannot participate for an extended period of time, there's no shame in informing the GM and players about it. Common solutions to that would be to let a player write actions for your character if the non-participation is temporary, or make the character leave the game if the non-participation will be permanent.

I know it's late, but will you take anyone to be on some sort of waitlist?
There'll be no waitlist in the foreseeable future.
What might happen is that one or two players may drop at some point during the campaign. If it'll be two or even more, I'll do emergency applications. However, this is not guaranteed to happen and I obviously can't predict when it happens.

Your best bet would be lurking on the FEF Discord channel for either emergency applications happening here or generally keeping an eye out for new games opening up.

Rolling Affinities for the nine players who made it. If the remaining two players send in their bio within the deadline (as discussed in the Discord), I'll roll for them too.
Edit: ctsun got a last-minute bio in and is accepted. Affinity rolls added below.

As his leisure walk around the campus came to an end, Kruger refreshes himself with a bottle of lemonade, consuming its content while moving towards the library instead of doing so in peace, as he would usually tend to do.

Not half a minute after the bottle has been emptied, he already enters the library, looking around for a short moment before heading straight to the librarian's desk and waiting until the person in charge returns. His spoken words were at a lowered volume, as such a place would deserve it.

"Greetings, I hope you are well. I'm looking for books about the history of Cuauila and Huraw. Voluntary presentation."
"After all, there's no such thing as too much extra credit, right? Heh."

Still waiting on the spritework. I like the overall character, so would be a shame to not at least give it a consideration on Monday.

A late arrival, but a good one. The only thing I have to critique is that you've taken two instances of bonus Crit for Personal Skills, which is a no-no. Fix that, prepare some sprites and you have a chance when I'm deciding on the line-up on Monday.

Evaluations are over. You have the weekend left to fix stuff before I'll pick the new Souban gang on Monday.

"Knowing you, you already have a list of preferred rope patterns for exactly that occasion."

He silently groans as he lets his neck crack by making a circular motion with his head before looking towards Oswald and the tall girl.

"Anyway, Mr. Black-And-White-Clown over there talked about how the Chiefs have no power without their boss, so let's just join arms and punch some color back into his face, that oughta be enough of a reminder of how the weakest link in our combined chain is still capable of choking him out."

As the robed person reveals himself, the sudden fanboys start chanting and Keith does his bit, Yliss got a bit overwhelmed but quickly starts to enjoy this twist of events.

"Hey there, Orobas! And wow, you got a cheerleading squad now?"
"Must be nice, finally getting acknowledged as the queen bi..."

But her words get interrupted mid-sentence as a mighty pillar of flames erupted to her right, at a distance she instinctively knew was a distance she wouldn't like said fire to emerge...

"MOMO!"

She immediately sprints to the other side of the battlefield, throwing a fleeting "Step Aside" glare at Asuna as she passes her, and calmly switches her weapon as she looks towards Miria and Trish.

"Oh, don't worry. I know this is non-lethal. I know this is a show match. Nevertheless..."
"... you have three seconds to step aside or I'll give the crowd a show they'll never forget."

Move to I-8, equip Steel Blade, perform Leaf on the Wind.

Just one new application inbetween evaluations, but that's fine for me as long as the current apps are pretty decent. Speaking of...

No edit since last evaluation, so again, looking solid, just would like the bio to get expanded a bit.

Looks alright so far. Since it's a physical class, Underdog's Uprising doesn't worry me too much. Only missing a sprite and the bio now.

Quote from: Unlurking Sentinel/Gou Kuroki
Looking good so far, only missing the bio.

Quote from: Gaterhyme/Nonoka Ishikawa
The Personal Fault is... tricky to evaluate for a Trainee without a mount, but since it's only five levels and the PF is pretty debilitating, I'll allow it without affecting you until you reach First class. With that said, looks like your app is complete!

The next and LAST evaluation is Friday next week. Don't forget that you can always ask me about stuff before that!

"The show must go on... I agree with that."
"I will not disappoint you. But more importantly, I will look forward to it, Freddie."

After exchanging necessary infos, like club times, and ending the conversation, Kruger takes a leisure walk around the campus.
