Odd. EThailand appears to have an infestation of Romanians centered around K-Gifts. Just... odd.

(Seriously... why would anyone move to bleeding eThailand and set up a Gifts company?!?)

If any of you haven't voted yet, log out and go here to see results before you vote... then vote accordingly.

Argh, and I've gotten 2 more votes, damn it!

Pardon my language, but turning agents is a bitch.

Heh. On the subject of having trouble turning people, I had a News Anchor in the current version resist something like 2 months of $100 dollar dates plus 2 week-long vacations before finally succumbing to one last week-long vacation with my 15 Cha, 17 Heart, 14 Seduction Liberal Guardian prostitute. That was... tiresome. I'm still not sure how I resisted the impulse to just kidnap them; I think after 2-3 weeks it was mostly incredulity that they'd neither broke it off nor succumbed, coupled with curiosity as to how much longer it could keep going.

Aye, I didn't find the hostage-tending bug to be critical, but as I'd never seen it or even seen it mentioned...

I also have a save with some fun vector subscript crashes that appeared to arise from mixing pedestrians with passengers in the same squad when leaving a site... but this was extra-fun because the save didn't appear to, um, stay the same when I reloaded it. I reproduced the crash once; tried a third time and got a crash when going to the site instead; backed up the save; tried a fourth time and found that the passengers then all listed as pedestrians but it'd still crash on leaving the site. The same holds true for the backed-up save.

(I got around it by re-assigning everyone to another vehicle, and continued as if nothing untoward had happened.)

Wooty: I suspect it won't matter who I throw the vote for. I hope it won't. If it comes down to it, though, and both of you have 2 votes still, I'll probably throw it for you as your XP total is lower. If need absolutely be, Nouv will have slightly better luck grabbing a wildcard with his slightly higher XP total.

However, I encourage you to send out a shout like "TRP: vote for Nouveauk and Wooty in Central!"; I can post one, but it'll only go out to "friends", as only your first of the day goes out to "everyone", and I've already used 3.

Currently, in the Central region we need people to vote for Nouveauk and Wooty. I'll throw my vote at one of them very late in the day; hopefully people will Stop. Voting. For. Me!!!

In the East, Wisdom needs a vote as a priority. When he votes for himself, he'll probably be secure, as most winners have only 1 vote, and Wisdom has 403 XP, so he can trounce them handily in case of ties. s33vald is suffering from the same phenomenon I am, but it's more damaging for him; he has two people (kirrs556 and t3rr0r) with precarious vote totals that could really have used some of the extra votes he got.

NE is messy. Lance could use a vote. Beyond that, the TDP Marksman could also use one.

The North is really ugly. Mew Tong has sucked up extra votes that we now sore miss, though this is balanced by la belette doing the same to TNT votes. If Fernando gets a vote, he'll push the TDP candidate out. Same if Zipper gets one. It's presumably impossible at this point to reduce the TNT seat count here though, as it'd take a minimum of 7 votes to oust their lowest candidate.

The South we only are involved with by proxy. As predicted, that's where all the wildcards are turning up. JSnow needs a vote to push out the lowest TNT prospect.

(Sorry about the misleading statement that you could view vote counts without voting. Right after midnight server, you could. As it stands, you still can if you have access to an SO...)

As a note, you can see election results without voting by going to:

Info->Political Stats->Congress: Election Results->Nov 2008

I encourage everyone to hold off on voting until as late in the day as possible, then consulting the election results in order to distribute votes as evenly as possible, while trying to ensure the average votes per candidate exceeds however many the TNT candidates have.

There's 7 seats per region, plus 5 wildcards going to the 5 regional-seat losers with the highest vote counts. These'll almost certainly be divided between SUP and TNT in the South though...

I currently have a save where my interrogator didn't quit Tending a Hostage after I successfully turned them into a sleeper.

Lovely. Since Antonio has discovered that he got a charge of calumny to stick against Beorn, he's decided that he can use threats of admin intervention to bully anyone who isn't willing to help him flush his past misdeeds down the memory hole. How very, very reprehensible, and very, very like him.

CEOes are the faith healers. (EDIT: Well, anybody who has the blessing of God [meaning, money] really. The more money you have, the more likely you have been blessed.)

No, no, no. As you say, the CEOs are clearly foremost amongst the blessed, but the faith healers are the ones wholly given over to tending to the spiritual needs of others, while CEOs are more concerned with tending to more temporal matters. The two have different callings...

If you lose the game, hospitals are banned and everyone has to engage in faith healing.

Hmm, that fits with the Dominionist part of C++, but not the corporatist/oligarchical/feudal part. Now, as pointed out above, C++ is the result of the sweet union of these, so theocracy has its place, but we need to give some respect to the upper crust. I'd think a better angle would be having the poor forced to resort to faith healers, whereas the crème de la crème (e.g., CEOs, hangin' judges, and particularly prominent faith healers ;)) have personal MDs on retainer to look after them and their families.

'Course, the real problem (indeed, the deciding factor) is choosing a C++ stance that can be stated pithily.

What's an election without bugs? Check to make sure you're still a candidate if you signed up, and complain to Beloved Admins if you're not. I fear my last minute strategizing was based on the buggy roll call; we may be rather hurting if/when the disappeared re-appear...

Aye... it's not like your accusation was unfounded. Hell, they disappeared 2/3rds of his stolen loot, and he later openly called said money stolen. That's just... sad. Is this a lame "a pox on both houses" false equivalency to try to make the admins look even-handed?

[e] Re-reading that exchange, the only "false accusation" I can dig out of it is your faulty prediction that the admins would probably ban him. He was speaking in remarkably bad faith, and he was corrupt.

I suspect you can't find the article where this exchange occurred because Antonio deleted it. Not certain, but I do suspect that. IIRC, it occurred in his newspaper, and it's not in any article from that era.

EThai Congressional Election Guide

Note that we've only fights on our hands in the NE and E. If I had been less paranoid, I should have asked one candidate from each of those to shift to the North, at which point TRP would have simply won every seat they contested. That's honestly a sad testament to the activity level and engagement on display in eThailand. Hat Yai is the only region that will see a serious contest, but even there only just barely. There's 12 candidates for 7 seats... but there's also 5 wild cards, so even that might not matter. Wisdom in East Thailand may get hammered, but if we have 2 non-candidates to the East, it would probably be enough to make sure he at least got a wildcard. The TDP candidate in the NE is the only member of that party present, so they'll likely fare poorly so long as all our candidates can get at least two votes. Which, yuck, means I need to determine if we have three non-candidates in the NE.

Makes me wonder a bit about when we first entered eRepublik, how our political party endorsed the man who is responsible for the current situation in eThailand.

The consensual illusion that he wasn't as corrupt as his predecessors, an utter lack of transparency on his part, and an unwavering refusal to understand how the game's economy worked on theirs.

Or more succinctly, laziness and naiveté.

(Recall that prior to Beorn, a1s, and I opening the floodgates of economically informed scathing, TRP "criticism" consisted of accusations that Rockman was stealing LCP's "good ideas" for fixing the economy...)
