Wallish: depressingly, it doesn't really matter what any of us put for our justification. There's going to be no serious contest for any seat outside the South, and I suspect it's not even going to matter there because of the five wildcard seats. Currently, it looks like contesting a seat will be sufficient to win it.

Furthermore... this is eThailand. No matter how much we want people to vote for the "right" reasons, they're just going to vote according to party diktats. Sad, but true. Rationales are superfluous in the current political atmosphere.

Ticket on its way...

(As to the prices, don't ask. The Moving Ticket market seems to set its prices randomly...)

Ugh, I don't know if we can spare the voters in NE, but... yes, go, if you would, please. I can always try to herd some cats to NE by end-of-day tomorrow, but candidates need to be in place today.

Eep! Any B12 people who aren't already standing for Congress, please stand in Central Thailand. We currently have 0 people standing there, and we'll certainly have voters there (no matter how hard I might try to re-distribute them elsewhere).

Wooty: sure go ahead. I'd say North or NE CENTRAL would be best. Depending on how many people we have to vote in each area and how many TNT visibly does, I'll take your lack of an overwhelming desire to run into account when considering who to assign voters to (i.e., if it looks like we won't have enough voters to take all contested seats, we'll end up prioritizing... but we may well have enough to take what we contest).

Wallish: your call. The eThai Weapons industry is probably currently the most profitable one we have, given the glut of war and rumors of war. So Iron is in demand. But then, so is Grain and Wood. I'd stay in harvesting though. There's been some effort to shift people into that domain.

Actually, what I'd like to see Liberal (or Moderate) cops in L+ society do is damage juice until it hits zero, at which point the target doesn't convert, they surrender. The problem is, since this is in a firefight, the LCS might very well kill all the police, so it would be bad if the surrendered LCS members vanished immediately to jail. It'd be more programming to implement, but if they could be be "stunned" either until combat ends (i.e., they're restrained upon surrendering) or for X rounds (after which time, should the fight still be going, they figure the cops are losing, so sweet talking mediator or no, they're going to start fighting back again (until and unless the mediator "restrains" them once more)). Or I suppose the mediator who "talked them down" could vanish out of combat with them, much as tackling cops do in a footchase.

(People with 0 Juice should surrender to L+ police upon being politely asked to, as they haven't been instilled with enough Liberal revolutionary values to buck the L+ social norms. This whole discussion makes me think of the scene in Demolition Man where the futuristic police first attempt to recapture Wesley Snipes' character...)

Beorn: we don't have so many candidates that I'll turn anyone away who wants to run. Frankly, I'd like to see at least one more running in the NE so we have 4 candidates, plus another in the North (I think we have a non-B12 TRP candidate who should be contesting there). I really don't want to see any seats going unfilled or getting eaten by TNT for want of a candidate.

Right. Once all candidates are listed I'll tally semi-probable votes an send out PMs on eRep haranguing people to vote for persons X, Y, or Z. Those will be done by end of day Monday.

And on Wednesday, we get to find out what oversights and/or bugs slipped into the admin's latest attempt to make Congressional elections.

Sabai is not corrupt. TNT is the only party that has exhibited active corruption; the other parties all formed a coalition to oust them. Sabai has also shown a great deal of willingness to listen to other parties and work with them, up to and including having 1/3 or 1/2 of government ministers in a Sabai government coming from non-Sabai parties.

As far as "re-rehabilitating" the brainwashed, I will continue to advocate their automatically succumbing. It's not breaking them back to conservatism, it's re-establishing their original identity as a normal (albeit Conservative) member of society. That's a sight easier achieve than turning a normal (albeit Conservative) person into an unflinching violent terrorist (moreso if it's acting against their political ideology). It's not "we're going to beat you and drug you and crush your id", it's "hey, you were brainwashed by those evil (Liberal) bastard, but we rescued you from that, understand, and won't hold it against you... so you can go back to your old life (with a slap on the wrist or less)". Remember, these people didn't join LCS because they wanted to or believed in its ideals, they joined because their id was crushed and they were convinced it was what they should do (possibly ALL they could do).

Entirely setting rationalizations aside for a moment, auto-de-brainwashing is not without merit purely in terms of gameplay. It serves as some small balance for the fact that brainwashed members are "free" in terms of Leadership slots.

Incidentally: if you want to run for Congress, nominate yourself on the party page. TNT is running 3 candidates in every region expect the South, where they have 5. We're mostly centered in Central and Northeast at the moment. Sabai is going to have an ugly fight on its hands in the South, as they're fielding 7 against TNT's 5. I would like to see one or two people contest in the North, as Cavalcanti ha planned to organize that region but went back to Brazil when the war was declared. We currently have no candidates there. I'm not sure any party but TNT does, in fact. If someone wants to move there and contest but can't afford a Moving Ticket, send me a PM in eRep, and I can send you one.

I'm going to sit down tonight and try to figure out exactly how many voters are where, and maybe do some last-minute shuffling accordingly. Ugh. </3 the new Congressional system.

It was bad, but not that bad. TRP got ~30% of the vote I think; TNT got 30%. TRP got ~20% of the Congressional seats; TNT got 66%.

  • An Elite Liberal (1,000 juice) can be "rehabilitated and freed" if you give up during a siege. Fix this?

Juice or no juice, the brainwashed are always vulnerable to being rehabilitated. This just means you can't ever have your B/W'd surrender. I'd hope this doesn't change.

This is a discussion we've had before, and the conclusion that was reached was that it's just not in the spirit of the game to make torture as graphic and detailed as possible. What we have is graphic and detailed enough.

Aye, I meant to bring up bulk in my above suggestion. D'oh! I'd largely agree with what you outline. In a perfect world I'd still prefer to see some notion that some outfits are more or less conspicuous with bulky junk; people with dollies in work clothes in an apartment building aren't going to be as conspicuous as people in expensive dresses with dollies in... well... pretty much anywhere. Also, location should matter; a hand truck is going to stand out in a gentleman's club regardless of what's on it, while in a factory I'd expect its conspicuousness to be more tied to its (presumably concealed) contents.

But that's in a perfect world. I'd be quite pleased to just see a bulk penalty added (which presumably would also affect how hard it is to get something out; if you're resorting to carts and bags, you're not going to be able to instantly get out that AK 47, but you should have no problem whipping out the knife you tucked into your boot).

the mobile armory "issue" (personally, I don't see it as a problem).

It is a problem though. You can put on security uniforms with sidearms equipped, walk all the way to the back of a CEO mansion, cause an alarm, then suddenly pull assault rifles and heavy body armor out of thin air to shoot your way out. Even worse, under the current system you can do this in a sweatshop when starkers.

At the absolute very least, each item stored in hammerspace should impose a location-dependent (possibly also outfit-dependent) stealth/disguise penalty; eyebrows would be raised higher at a group of guards carrying three large duffel bags in a mansion than in a factory, to say nothing of how high they'd be raised at a group of naked "garment workers" doing so in a sweatshop.
